In vivo and In vitro Effect of Sulfamerazine on Hepatic Mixed Function Oxidase in Rats
P.B. Dandge,S.P. Govindwar
Research Journal of Pharmacology , 2013, DOI: 10.3923/rjpharm.2011.53.58
Abstract: Sulfamerazine (SMR) administration (i.p., 3 days) of different doses to adult male rats showed significant decrease in electron transport components and drug metabolizing enzymes. In longer duration study, 100 mg SMR kg-1 caused significant decreases in cytochrome P-450 and activities of aminopyrine N-demethylase and aniline hydroxylase. In inhibitory dose of 100 mg SMR kg-1 was selected for dosing young male, old male and adult female rats. Sulfamerazine administration to young, old male and female rats resulted in a significant decrease in electron transport component and drug metabolizing activities at 100 mg SMR kg-1 dose level. All other parameters were unchanged. Sulfamerazine resulted in uncompetitive type of inhibition (Ki = 3.0 mM) of aminopyrine N-demethylase in vitro. Sulfamerazine destructed the spectral and catalytic activity of cytochrome P-450. The studies suggest that SMR is a substrate of the mixed function oxidase system and inhibition is dependent on dosage, age and sex of the animals.
Interest Rate Variation and Investment Determination in Nigeria
P.B. Eregha
International Business Management , 2012, DOI: 10.3923/ibm.2010.41.46
Abstract: This study examines variations in interest rate and investment determination in Nigeria. The study is necessitated by the fact that previous studies only examined the effect of interest rate on investment determination without accessing the bi-casual effects of these macroeconomic variables. Investment decision is seen as demand for credit in an economy and this study calculated the annual variance of interest rate from monthly interest rate data for the period 1970-2002 and examines the determinants of interest rate variation and its impact on investment determination. The study employed dynamic model of two equations using instrumental variable technique of estimation. Data for the study were extracted from the World Development Indicator. The study revealed that variation in interest rate played a negative and highly significant role in investment decision in the economy and demand for credit also had negative and significant influence on interest rate variations in both the short run and long run. Although, the study deduced that investment has an indirect relationship with interest rate variation, other variables such as debt burden, economic stability, foreign exchange, shortage and lack of infrastructure affect gross domestic investment. Improvement in these key macro-economic variables is a necessary condition towards facilitating investment in Nigeria.
Foreign Aid Growth and Determinants in Nigeria: An Autoregressive Framework
P.B. Eregha
Pakistan Journal of Social Sciences , 2012,
Abstract: This study examines the growth and determinants of foreign aid allocation to Nigeria. This study is necessitated by the fact that most studies examines this issue with either panel data analysis or cross country analysis framework, which do not really show specific country characteristics and moreover, there is no time series analysis on the determinants of foreign aid allocation in Nigeria. The study employed Ordinary Least Square method of estimation with an autoregressive model to examine the short run and long run coefficients of the determinants. Data for the study were mainly secondary source extracted from the World Development Indicator, 2007. The study revealed that both at the short run and steady state, national income per capita, total debt service, population and domestic saving all have positive impacts in the determination of foreign aid allocation to Nigeria. However, net barter term of trade has negative impact on it. The study then recommends that policies aim at reducing the dependency and proper use of foreign aid be implemented.
Die rykdom van die Suid-Afrikaanse bodem
P.B. Ackermann
Koers : Bulletin for Christian Scholarship , 1963, DOI: 10.4102/koers.v31i1.1456
P.B. Boshoff
HTS Theological Studies/Teologiese Studies , 2009, DOI: 10.4102/hts.v60i1/2.531
Abstract: The meaning of the tradition of the virgin birth: A discussion in the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk This essay explains the meaning attached to the tradition of the virgin birth according to conservative, liberal and balanced readings. Topics that feature in the course of the argument are fundamentalism, liberalism, kerygma and the experience and verbalisation of the kerygma. Fundamentalism is defined as the inability to discern between gospel and theology. Liberalism is the willingness to renounce the concept of revelation. The gospel is proclaimed by performative language. Dogma is the explanation of belief which precedes it. In conclusion an explanation of the meaning of the tradition of the virgin birth based on proposed hermeneutical principles, is given.
Origen’s theological and mystical approach to the Scriptures in the introduction to his commentary on John’s Gospel
P.B. Decock
In die Skriflig , 2011, DOI: 10.4102/ids.v45i2&3.34
Abstract: This article explores Origen’s approach to interpreting John’s Gospel as can be seen in the introduction to his commentary. It deals with the points which were usually discussed in the introductions to Aristotle and Plato. It was this educational aim of the philosophical tradition that was Origen’s chief concern in commenting on the Scriptures; an aim which was not seen as merely becoming skilled or well-informed. Rather, it was about developing in virtue, in wisdom, in conversion to the Good (Plato); or as Origen understood it, development in love for God. Origen perceived the development of love for God in three basic steps: moral purification, by which the person is enabled to appreciate moral values; enlightenment, by which the person recognises God as the supreme and absolute value; and finally, union with God in love, which is never fully achieved in this life. The New Testament together with the Old Testament (understood in the light of the New Testament), reveals the power of the Gospel “in mirror darkly” while the “eternal gospel” will be the full revelation of it at the eschaton. John’s Gospel is the clearest expression of the divine Logos; but no one can understand the text fully as expression of the Logos unless one becomes like John – who was intimately related to the Logos, as the Logos is related to the Father (John 13:23, 25; 1:18).
Recognition of Marathi Numerals Using Artificial Neural Network
P.B. Khanale
Journal of Artificial Intelligence , 2010,
Abstract: Marathi language is an Indo-Aryan language. It is one of the most popular language used by over ninety million people in India and rest of the world. It is the official language of Government of Maharashtra State, India. Various commercial transactions such as bank transactions takes place in Marathi, particularly in rural part of Maharashtra State. Many times it is needed to process numerals written in Marathi through computer. Recognition of Marathi Numerals is required in various applications where Marathi data need to be processed. It is also the first step towards language understanding. Here, I have proposed a Artificial Neural Network System that can recognize numerals (0-9) written in Marathi language. The system perfectly recognizes ideal numerals and performs reasonably accurate for noisy numerals.

Tissera P.B.
EPJ Web of Conferences , 2012, DOI: 10.1051/epjconf/20121901001
Abstract: We studied the chemical properties of Milky-Way mass galaxies. We found common global chemical patterns with particularities which reflect their different assembly histories in a hierarchical scenario. We carried out a comprehensively analysis of the dynamical components (central spheroid, disc, inner and outer haloes) and their chemical properties.

Ivanov P.B.
EPJ Web of Conferences , 2012, DOI: 10.1051/epjconf/20123901002
Abstract: In this contribution I introduce and discuss the so-called cross sections of tidal disruption and partial mass stripping of stars after a tidal encounter with a rotating supermassive black hole. The presented approach is fully relativistic. Possible applications and generalisations of the discussed results are also shortly reviewed.
Development of a Versatile Mathematical Routine Library with Microcontroller
P.B.Buchade
International Journal of Engineering and Advanced Technology , 2013,
Abstract: A software tool for micro controller applications with assembly language programming for interfacing concepts having a multipurpose routine library is developed. This library is intended to solve different mathematical equations like linear equations, first polynomial, second polynomial etc encountered in data acquisition and analysis. Routines are also developed for proper formatted display on LCD. Some of the unique features of this method are highlighted. A multipurpose mathematical routine library which can be used as a easy tool in designing and implementation of microcontroller based instrumentation systems. The analog voltage on a selected channel read from instrumentation is converted to digital form with ADC stored in internal memory..The subroutine programs for performing the mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division etc in 16 bit format are tested with Integrated Development Environment (IDE) simulator. This subroutine programs are then further used to solve the equations with asm51 cross assembler. The program can debug, erased and reprogrammed immediately and online tested. After assembly completion, error free program is downloaded with FLASH MAGIC in a microcontroller chip
