Verification and Validation Methodology for Safety Critical Embedded Systems

Abstract: Embedded Systems used for control of the process plants can be classified as safety critical embedded systems. To achieve the specified probability failure on demand, it is essential to customize the relevant IEEE standards. Since the requirement specifications will be well specified for process control applications, it is appropriate to follow the waterfall product development cycle. Enough thoughts are not given for Verification and Validation of embedded systems. Verification and Validation process for safety critical embedded system and the challenges for Verification and Validation team are detailed in this study.

Abstract: Let G = (V, E) be a simple graph. A clique of G is a maximal complete subgraph of G. A subset D of V which meets every clique of G is called a clique transversal set of G. Since V(G) is a clique transversal set of G, the existence of a clique transversal set of G is guaranteed in any graph. The minimum cardinality of a clique transversal set of G is called the clique transversal number of G and is denoted by A study on this concept is initiated in this paper.

Abstract: Asymmetric control scheme is an approach to achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) for half-bridge isolated dc–dc converters. But, it is not suited for wide range of input voltage due to the uneven voltage and current components stresses. Modeling and simulation of a new high-efficient symmetric half-bridge dc to dc converter is proposed in this paper. The proposed dc to dc converter regulates the output voltage by adjusting applied voltage on the main transformer with an auxiliary circuit while main switches are operated at both fixed duty ratio and switching frequency. So that, voltage stress on rectifier diodes and current stress on switches can be reduced.

Abstract: Let $G=(V,E)$ be a graph without isolates. A subset $S$ of $V(G)$ is called a total dominating set of $G$ if for every $vin V$, there exists $uin S$ such that $u$ and $v$ are adjacent. $S$ is called a total complementary acyclic dominating set of $G$, if $S$ is a total dominating set of $G$ and $leftlangle V-S ight angle$ is acyclic.$V(G)$ is a total complementary acyclic dominating set of $G$ (since $G$ has no isolates). The minimum cardinality of a total complementary acyclic dominating set of $G$ is called the total complementary acyclic domination number of $G$ and is denoted by $gamma_{c-a}^{t}(G)$. In this paper, characterization of graphs for which $gamma_{c-a}^{t}(G)$ takes specific values are found.

Abstract: Classical Problems on any discipline of study has to undergo a series of alternative approaches at different points of time. Many experimental verification of fundamental theoretical results have to be framed in the domain of mathematical modeling based on iterative approaches. One such area of our interest is VLSI Design issue in particular Circuit Partitioning. We present here chronological order of different procedures based on variety of graph theoretical and optimization techniques. These fall into major classification of deterministic and Probabilistic tool kits. A clear cut understanding of these collection will facilitate the researchers engaged in this field for creditable contribution. Hypergraph method is better than the vertical and horizontal procedure in wing and cell partitioning .New type of hypergraph called unimodular hypergraph gives better results for VLSI Cell partitioning.
Review Article: An Overview of Image Compression Techniques

Abstract: To store an image, large quantities of digital data are required. Due to limited bandwidth, image must be compressed before transmission. However, image compression reduces the image fidelity, when an image is compressed at low bitrates. Hence, the compressed images suffer from block artifacts. To meet this, several compression schemes have been developed in image processing. This study presents an overview of compression techniques for image applications. It covers the lossy and lossless compression algorithm used for still image and other applications. The focus of this article is based on the overview of VLSI DCT architecture for image compression. Further, this new approach may provide better results.

Abstract: Template matching is one of the areas of profound interests in recent times. It has turned out to be a revolution in the field of computer vision. Template matching provides a new dimension into the imageprocessing capabilities, although there have been many attempts to resolve different issues in this field there have always been newer concepts emerging in this ever challenging field. In this study, various techniques are discussed and a new FPGA based spectral architecture is proposed to achieve a fast similarity measure between template and input image.
