Abstract: compared to traditional management, organic farming provides an alternative to the problems of the appearance of resistance, residues and environmental pollution, as well as favoring an increase in ecosystem biodiversity through beneficial effects on other fauna. in agroecosystems, the combined action of natural enemies on phytophages can maintain populations of many of them below economic damage thresholds. one of the least known groups of predators in studies on the natural control of cotton pests are the spiders (order araneae), therefore surveys were conducted in plots of organic cotton situated in southern spain: córdoba, sevilla and cádiz. specimens were collected by beating the plants. the most abundant species was cheiracanthium sp. (miturgidae), followed by other species such as philodromus sp. (philodromidae), the crab spiders thomisus onustus, runcinia grammica andsynema globosum (thomisidae), salticus sp. (salticidae) and larinia lineata (araneidae). in addition, individuals were collected from the families theridiidae and linyphiidae. this work, therefore, is a first step in understanding the species and their abundance in organic cotton crops, and will be the basis for future research in the area of phytophage control by spiders.

Revista Colombiana de Entomología , 2010,
Abstract: most studies on the family noctuidae focus on very few species that cause damage to crops; however, there is little informatión on the biology and ecology of the remaining species of noctuid moths. this work examines the relationship of the larvae of cucullia calendulae with their main food plant calendula arvensis. the results showed that the larvae of this species feed on the fruiting bodies, reaching an overall incidence of ca. 30%. in addition, there was a differential distributión of larvae according to their size. early stages were found in the reproductive structures while latter stages were found on the stems, which should be due to a defensive strategy. furthermore, from seven characteristics of the patch taken into account, only the height of the plant explained a greater number of larvae per patch.

This paper has as study object the management of science and innovation at Municipal University Sites (FUM, in its Spanish acronym), because it is insufficient the existent theoretical platform and the methodologies that are applied for the development of this process, as well as it is required of the contextualization from the Cuban models of university management to the municipal context. An alternative method of solution to radiative transfer

Brownian motion in a magnetic field and in the presence of additional external forces

Revista mexicana de física E , 2008,
Abstract: our purpose in this paper is to solve exactly the fokker-planck-kramers equation of a charged particle (heavy-ion) embedded in a fluid and under the influence of mechanical and electromagnetic forces. in this work the magnetic field is assumed to be constant and pointing along any direction of a cartesian reference frame; the mechanical and electrical forces are both space-independent, but in general time-dependent. our proposal relies upon two transformations of the langevin equation associated with the charged particle's phase-space (r, u). the first one is a fixed rotation which transforms the (r, u)-coordinates into other (r', u')-coordinates, and makes it possible to re-orientate the magnetic field along an appropriate direction (say along the z'-axis). the second one is a time-dependent rotation which transforms the (r', u')-coordinates into other (r", u")-coordinates, in which the resulting langevin equation strongly resembles that of ordinary brownian motion in the presence of external forces. under these circumstances, the fokker-planck-kramers equation can immediately be solved in the (r", u") phase-space, following our methodology developed in ref.
