A Matching Model on the Use of Immigrant Social Networks and Referral Hiring  [PDF]
Mónica García-Pérez
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2012.24070
Abstract: Using a simple search model, with urn-ball derived matching function, this paper investigates the effect of firm owner’s and coworkers’ nativity on hiring patterns and wages. In the model, social networks reduce search frictions and wages are derived endogenously as a function of the efficiency of the social ties of current employees. As a result, individuals with more efficient connections tend to receive higher wages and lower unemployment rate. However, because this efficiency depends on matching with same-type owners and coworkers, there is also a differential effect among workers’ wages in the same firm. This analysis highlights the potential importance of social connections and social capital for understanding employment opportunities and wage differentials between these groups.

García Pérez,Rafael;
Estudios filológicos , 2012, DOI: 10.4067/S0071-17132012000100005
Abstract: this paper studies a group of verbs closely linked to the so-called causative operators: 'converse causative operators' or 'consecutive operators' . from the syntactic-semantic point of view, we show that these verbs share the same structure: they select a subject and a prepositional object; the subject function is performed by predicates interpreted as a consequence, and prepositional object function, by predicates interpreted as a cause. from the historical point of view, we highlight that these operators are the result of different metaphorical processes, which nowadays are not always noticeable to the same extent. the process of their introduction in spanish is also described.
La autopsia psicológica en el suicidio
García Pérez,Teresita;
Medicina Legal de Costa Rica , 1998,
Abstract: the term "suicide" defined by shneidman as "the human act of auto-injury with the intention of finishing", it extends an infinity of motivational states conscious or unconsciously. what is a psychologic autopsy ? is the retrospective characterization of the personality and the life of a deceased, using, of course, an indirect or differencial method, is about obtaining information of the deceased through third people that had intimate links with the dead during it's lifetime. the psychologic autopsy as a pericial technique, sees the light for the first time in the seventeenth's, in los angeles, california, as an exit to the administrating need of defining the medico-legal etiology of doubtful deaths in which there was not enough elements to affirmate if they were dealing with a suicide or an accidental death. parting from the antecedents and previous check up of all the models, scales, guides and formularies, we build a particular model named map-i (psychologic autopsy model of suicidal persons), that differs from the previous models (that were open and semi-structured), this particular one completely structured and sistematized, in a way that is lowered to the minimun the margen of sesgo, given that all the explorers have to do the exploration the same way, leading themselves by an instructive to the map-i, with the possibility of a closed answer, to avoid the involvement of elements that are subjective to the value of each case , and also to verify it by the third people and therefor guarantee its value as a pericial evidence. there exists the false popular belief that an individual that commmits suicide does not tell anybody of its intentions and we prove that that is a wrong belief, totally false given that more than one-third of the studied individuals made verbalizations were they announced what they were going to do, being this pessimistic comments about their future, dispair, and the expression of feelings of loneliness, inutility,incapability or incompetence
La autopsia psicológica en el homicidio
García Pérez,Teresita;
Medicina Legal de Costa Rica , 1998,
Abstract: one of the most common difficulties in the study of homicides is that we no longer count on the victim?s we don?t know the victim?s side of the story, the victim?s feelings and situation during the crime. with the goal to study to he homicide victim, we design a model tha is called map-ii (model of psicologic autopsy of homicide victims) and we use metodology for its application. the method is about a way of indirect exploration and retrospective with metodologic principles very similar to the applicated to the person that commits suicide but with especific qualities at this type of victims, for example the selection of sources of information is essencial to do it previous to the consult with the cops investigators to avoid the chance of dealing with persons included in the circle of suspects. newman states the a study of the criminogenesis can?t be relevant and serious if it is not counted the part the victim played and in what way the victim has contributed, conciously inconciously to the act supporting this affimation we can say that the study made us on 1994 note than 40% of the homicide victims, did fiulfilled the requeriments of the so-called "provocating victims", these people fall into the category of hard character, desafiants and easy provocators. also in the legal field if it is demostrated that the corpse was a provocative victim active in the violence, it may mean in the hands of a clever defendant, for the victimary by establishing the dynamic previous to the crime and the fair motivations that gave place to the "homicidal act" is about homicides provocated unconciously by the own victim. with our model of psichologic autopsy we contribute to achieve approximation to the intern dynamic of the homicide, going from the analisis of the victims factor, many times forgotten, and we scientifically demostrate the often participation of the victims on its own assault.

Abstract: the indirect or retrospective evaluation of the personality and life of a deceased person is called a psychological autopsy. it is about the cientific procedure to evaluate, after death, the victim's life; it's like a sociopsychopathological post-mortem reconstruction. important elements: 1. evaluate the risks of a suicidal, heteroagressive, or accidental death. 2. evaluate the life style of the victim. 3. stipulate the mental firness of the deceased at the time of death. 4. stablish the sensitive and problematic areas of the victim 5. determine if there was presuicidal warnings. 6. stipulate any presuicidal warnings. it is ncesary to clarify that the psychological autopsy is always giving in probability terms, and its result must be added up with the others criminalistic, police and forensic examinations to confirm a final decision. it is also important to know that a psychological autopsy can stablish a posible murderer, if it was a homicide, by evaluating the victim's relationships, conflicts, motivations and life style.

Pérez, Rafael García
Linguistik Online , 2010,
Abstract: This paper intends to show the importance of having linguistic instruments, principally semantic ones, for determining the meaning of words with the greatest precision and, consequently, managing to meticulously establish the different meanings of a dictionary's entry words. As an example, a new definition of the Spanish verb mezclar ('to mix') will be proposed.
