Texture Classification Using Texton Co-Occurrence Matrix Derived From Texture Orientation

Abstract: The present paper derived a new co-occurrencematrix based on textons and texture orientation for rotationinvariant texture classification of 2D images. The newco-occurrence matrix is called as Texton and Texture OrientationCo-occurrence Matrix (T&TO-CM). The Co-occurrence Matrix(CM) characterizes the relationship between the values ofneighboring pixels, while the histogram based techniques havehigh indexing performance. If the CM is used to represent imagefeatures directly, then the dimension will be high and theperformance is decreased. On the other hand, if histogram is usedto represent image features, the spatial information will be lost.Texture Classification based on T&TO-CM, integrates color,texture and edge features of an image. The proposed T&TO-CM isused to describe the spatial correlation of textons and textureorientation for texture classification. T&TO-CM can capture thespatial distribution of edges, and it is an efficient texturedescriptor for images with heavy textural presence. The proposedmethod is computationally attractive as it computes differentfeatures with limited number of selected pixels. The experimentalresults indicate the efficacy of the present method over the variousother methods.

Abstract: Hermetic reciprocating compressors are most commonly used in the refrigeration industry. The main source of noise in refrigerating and air conditioning machinery is the compressor. Reduction of noise in compressors is a complex criterion as many factors such as Shell Thickness, Shell Material, Suction Port Area and Discharge Port Area etc. contribute its effect on the noise and they also interact in a complex manner. In this work a screening test is carried out to find the relative effect of the parameters and their interaction, which can be used as an initial step for further investigations concentrating on the most influencing parameters and their interactions using Taguchi Technique. Here Shell Thickness (ST), Shell Material (SM), Suction Port Area (SPA) and Discharge Port Area (DPA) are chosen as input parameters and the noise is the output parameter. L8 orthogonal array is selected, the factors are assigned and experiments are carried out. Column effect method is used to find the most effective parameters for the noise reduction in the compressor.
A study of eosinophil count in nasal and blood smear in allergic respiratory diseases in a rural setup

Abstract: ABSTRACT: Allergic respiratory disorders are fairly common visiting cases in pediatrics outpatient department (OPD). With an appropriate history and detailed examination, diagnosis may not be problematic. Routine investigation may not contribute much to the final diagnosis but may help in ruling out other possibilities. This study was done to evaluate sensitivity and specificity of blood or nasal eosinophilia in subjects suffering from allergic respiratory disorders and also to assess the feasibility of nasal cytogram which is a simple, economical and reliable investigation in allergic respiratory disorders. This is a prospective clinical correlation study of patients attending outpatient department. 100 subjects aged between 2-18 years of either sex were selected for the estimation of eosinophil count in nasal and peripheral smear in allergic respiratory disorders. All allergic respiratory cases based on eosinophillia. The nasal and blood eosinophilia were compared with each other and clinical findings of allergic rhinitis with or without asthma were studied. In this study peak age incidence was seen between 11-18 years and it was more common in males. Rhinorrhoea, pale mucosa and nasal obstruction were common findings in allergic rhinitis with bronchial asthma. Nasal eosinophilia was seen in 52.4% and 64.9% of cases of allergic rhinitis and allergic rhinitis with asthma respectively. Blood eosinophilia was seen in 54% and 56.8% of cases of allergic rhinitis with asthma respectively. Nasal cytogram which is a simple, economical and non- invasive procedure can be used as an alternative to invasive peripheral smear eosinophilia as both are equally efficacious in diagnosing allergic respiratory diseases. High Speed Low Area Pattern Matching Algorithm for Memory Architecture.

Abstract: Pattern matching is one of the most important components for the content inspection based applications of network security, and it requires well designed algorithms and architectures to keep up with the increasing network speed. Due to the advantages of easy re-configurability and scalability, the memory-based string matching architecture is widely adopted by network intrusion detection systems (NIDS). In order to accommodate the increasing number of attack patterns and meet the throughput requirement of networks, a successful NIDS system must have a memory-efficient pattern-matching algorithm and hardware design. In this paper, we propose a memory-efficient pattern-matching algorithm which can significantly reduce the memory requirement. For Snort rule sets, the new algorithm achieves 21% of memory reduction compared with the traditional Aho–Corasick algorithm. In addition, we can gain 24% of memory reduction by integrating our approach to the bit-split algorithm which is the state of the art memory-based approach.
Impacted Maxillary Central Incisor With Dilaceration

Abstract: Maxillary central incisor impactions occur infrequently. Their origins include various local causes, such as odontoma, supernumerary teeth, and space loss. Dilaceration is one of the causes of permanent maxillary incisor eruption failure. It is a developmental distortion of the form of a tooth that commonly occurs in permanent incisors as result of trauma to the primary predecessors whose apices lie close to the permanent tooth germ. A case of impacted maxillary left central incisor with dilaceration in a young patient is presented.

Abstract: Aluminium doped Ni-Zn ferrite nanoparticles of general formula of Ni0.5Zn0.5AlxFe2-xO4 (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0) have been synthesized by sol-gel auto combustion method and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dis-persive X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTIR) and vibrating sample magneto meter (VSM). XRD studies confirm that all compositions show single phase cubic spinel structure. The crystallite size was calculated using the Debye-Scherrer formula and found in the range of 17 - 52 nm. The lattice parameter “a” is found to decrease with increasing Al3+ content. The SEM images clearly show the crystalline structure and EDX patterns confirm the compositional formation of the synthesized compositions. The results of FTIR analysis indicated that the functional groups of Ni-Zn spinel ferrite were formed during the sol-gel synthesis process. The IR spectra showed two main absorption bands, the high frequency band ν1 around 600 cm-1 and the low frequency band ν2 around 400 cm-1 arising from tetrahedral (A) and octahedral (B) interstitial sites in the spinel lattice. As doping is increased the magnetic behavior is found to decrease and the composition x = 2.0 ferrite appears to be exhibiting superparamagnetism as the coercive field and retentivity are found near zero.
