Wilde,Oscar R; de la Vega,Adolfo C; L. Cruz,María;
Zootecnia Tropical , 2002,
Abstract: an intravaginal device for bovine use (prid), containing progesterone of slow releasing, was evaluated in eleven peruvian mares for oestrus synchronization. the device was installed just as presented commercially for bovine use and stayed in situ for twelve days, then it was retired without much difficulties. manifestations of heat were observed 24 h after withdraw the prid, with the highest incidence (50%) at 74 h. nine mares that showed a totally normal heat were inseminated, resulted pregnant. one mare was anestric and was served for natural way, another showed an excessively long heat not being able to be inseminated. the prid was a useful device for the synchronization of the heat in mares.
R. Wilde,Oscar; de la Vega,Adolfo C; Cruz,Maria L.;
Zootecnia Tropical , 2004,
Abstract: in equines, artificial insemination is practiced mostly with the use of refrigerated semen due to the difficulties that comes with the preservation of frozen semen. to improve the conservation conditions at 5oc (refrigerated semen) it is necessary to consider the spermatic deterioration after the gathering, because components of the seminal plasma complicate the survival of the sperm with oxidative processes. some components have antioxidant properties and improve notably the spermatic motility and survival. in this experience sodium lactate (2 mm) and caffeine (10 mm) were incorporated at the moment of the dilution of the semen, and at 48 h of conservation at 5oc in a skim milk - glucose bases extender, with the purpose of studying their effects on the sperm. incorporated at the moment of the dilution, the lactate and the caffeine induced more vigorous movements than the samples without additives. when they were added at 48 h of preservation at 5oc, both additives produced a remarkable recovery in the motility (49% vs. 31%). when these same samples were cultivated at 37oc, at 30 minutes of incubation those without additives had scarce mobile forms (5%), and different from those added with lactate (29%) and caffeine (40%). at 60 minutes, the samples without additives hardly registered movement while the rest maintained the former percentages. in the three cases, there were found statistical differences (p<0.01) among treatments with additive and the control. the additive added at beginning or at 48 h did not show significant differences. it is concluded that the lactate and the caffeine can be used as diluters of equine semen skim milk-glucose bases.

Abstract: it is necessary to have precise anatomical knowledge of lumbar pedicles for the safe placement of screws. there are not reports about the morphometry of lumbar pedicles in a mexican population exist. a descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study was done in 60 cadavers from the dissection lab of the human anatomy department of the medicine school. the aim of the study was to quantify the morphometric characteristics of the pedicles of the lumbar spine in a mexican population. a total of 60 cadavers were evaluated by fluoroscopy and ct from l1 to l5, in the age range of 40 to 78 years. each vertebral pedicle was measured in the axial, sagittal and coronal planes. the measurements included the minimum pedicle width, the pedicle angle, the distance to anterior cortex, and anteroposterior and interpedicular spinal canal diameters. ct evaluation showed a progressive and gradual increase in the width of the pedicles from l1 (7.81 ±1.30 mm) to l5 (14.36 ±14.36 mm). a progressive and gradual decrease of pedicle length from l1 (20.92 ±2.62 mm) to l5 (17.23 ±1.35 mm). when fluoroscopy was used there was the same relationship, but the values were higher than those obtained by ct. the values for widths and lengths are slightly higher in males than in females, but do not reveal any significant difference (p<0.05). the data in this study indicates that pedicle screws (5.5-6.5mm) may be used in the lumbar region.

Abstract: objective an economic evaluation of an anti-s pneumoniae vaccine for oncological patients in colombia. methods as there is no evidence of vaccine effectiveness for this kind of patient, the cost of a vaccination programme for oncological patients was calculated during its first six years and the opportunity cost was estimated for early cancer detection alternatives. results an anti-s. pneumoniae vaccination programme for oncological patients would cost around $31 000 000 000 (colombian pesos in 2006, i.e. nearly us$12 400 000) during its first years. alternative programs could be developed with this amount, such as 170 000 colonoscopies or early hpv detection, 500 000 mammographies, or more than 3 800 000 cytologies. conclusions given the scarcity of resources, it would be better (from an economic point of view) to devote this amount to programmes whose effectiveness has been proven, such as early cancer detection or vaccinating healthy children.
de la Vega,Eduardo;
Revista Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, Ni?ez y Juventud , 2010,
Abstract: in this article i analyze different approaches that, from diverse fields are aimed to take action in connection with poor childhood. in argentina, among the most outstanding narratives, psychoanalysis is the one that stands out from the rest; after its success in clinical practice, it continues showing vocation towards the long- suffering and excluded childhood. however, psychoanalytic interventions (in the slums, at school, etc.) frequently seem to psychologyze the conflict and the social drama. the political efficiency of psychoanalysis has been also questioned by the new philosophical pragmatism which distrusts the public utility of psychoanalysis. the analysis is closed by a theoretical debate about this huge controversial issue that brings deconstruction theoreticians and the american philosopher, richard rorty, face to face, in order to finally retake lacan's reflections on psychoanalysis and politics.
EL RETORNO DEL CUERPO. DEPORTE, POLíTICA Y POSCOLONIALIDAD (THE RETURN OF THE BODY. SPORTS, POLITICS AND POST-COLONIALITY)

The aim of this article is to reflect on the scarce part that the theory of sports plays within social sciences, and it also explores the exceptional allusion to certain games- particularly football- in some outstanding literary works.In such frame, the article summarizes scientific developments included in the program of critical sociology (Frankfurt school) and it argues with the ‘repressive’ theory, drawn up by some of its supporters, within the Freudo-marxist frame.The genealogy of some of the most important sports of the Western culture, such as basketball in the USA, football in South America and rugby in France is also examined. From the theoretical perspective of cultural and postcolonial studies, the article analyzes the course of such sports, from their introduction by the colonial b

Coloring Grids
Ramiro de la Vega
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: A structure $\mathcal{A}=\left(A;E_i\right)_{i\in n}$ where each $E_i$ is an equivalence relation on $A$ is called an $n$-grid if any two equivalence classes coming from distinct $E_i$'s intersect in a finite set. A function $\chi: A \to n$ is an acceptable coloring if for all $i \in n$, the set $\chi^{-1}(i)$ intersects each $E_i$-equivalence class in a finite set. If $B$ is a set, then the $n$-cube $B^n$ may be seen as an $n$-grid, where the equivalence classes of $E_i$ are the lines parallel to the $i$-th coordinate axis. We use elementary submodels of the universe to characterize those $n$-grids which admit an acceptable coloring. As an application we show that if an $n$-grid $\mathcal{A}$ does not admit an acceptable coloring, then every finite $n$-cube is embeddable in $\mathcal{A}$.
