Oro, Ari;
Estudos Afro-Asiáticos , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-546X2002000200006
Abstract: the article is divided into two parts. the first presents data about the slavery period in rio grande do sul, the structure of afro-brazilian religions (batuque, umbanda and linha cruzada) in this state and the historical and controversial role played by an african prince who lived here from the late 19th century until 1935. the second part analyses three particularly important aspects of these religions in rio grande do sul nowadays: the presence of non-negroes in them, its transnational expansion to argentina and uruguay, and the ever-close relations with local political power.

Molecular characterization of PCN populations from Serbia
Oro Violeta,Oro-Radovanovi? Vesna
Genetika , 2012, DOI: 10.2298/gensr1201189o
Abstract: The morphology of potato cyst nematodes (PCN) was until recently almost the only way to identify these quarantine organisms. In the last two decades, molecular analyses contributed to faster and more efficient identification of two Globodera species (Globodera pallida and G. rostochiensis) and allowed insight into the genetic structure of those parts that were practically inaccessible by morphological studies. Molecular characterization was performed in ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 region. The comparison was made with sequences of different foreign PCN populations via NCBI GenBank database. The results of molecular studies showed similarities and differences between local and foreign PCN populations in the part of genome that was studied.

A política da Igreja Universal e seus reflexos nos campos religioso e político brasileiros
Oro, Ari Pedro;
Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69092003000300004
Abstract: the paper analyses the insertion of the universal church of the kingdom of god (uckg) in the national politics scenario and its effects in the religious and political fields. due to the efficacy of its institutional charisma, the universal church of the kingdom of god (uckg) has given, within its own religious group, a new meaning to the specific act of voting and to the general perception of politics in general, putting both of them in its own religious logic. this is an important explanatory key for the high level of loyalty in voting and the growing political success verified in every new election. furthermore, the political practice of the uckg is producing a mimetic effect on other evangelic churches, which tend to imitate its way of doing politics. its political insertion, mainly through the liberal party, has not remained unnoticed by the political parties, making the fact a relevant actor in the current brazilian political conjuncture.
