Abstract: we proposed to quantify the intensity of the immune response to the heberbiovac-hb vaccine in offsprings of normal rats and with iugr. two treatment schemes were used, a group at 0-5-10 days, and another at 0-11-22 days. seven days after the last dose, blood was extracted and the antibody titer was quantified in each offspring. the results showed that 100 % of the offsprings vaccinated with the scheme 0-11-22 seroconversed compared with 87.5 % in the scheme 0-5-10. it was also proved that that the control group of the scheme 0-11-22 attained a higher percent of animals in the category of hyperresponders. it was concluded that the immune response in both groups have sufficient intensity to rise antibody titers, and that the offsprings under the scheme 0-11-22 respond with more intensity than those of the scheme 0-5-10.

Abstract: Nos propusimos cuantificar la intensidad de la respuesta inmune a la vacuna Heberbiovac-HB en crías de ratas normales y con CIUR, se usaron dos esquemas de tratamiento, un grupo en los días 0-5-10 y otro en los días 0-11-22. Siete días después de la última dosis se realizó una extracción de sangre y se cuantificó el título de anticuerpos en cada cría. Los resultados muestran que el 100 % de las crías vacunadas con el esquema 0-11-22 seroconvirtieron contra el 87.5 % en el esquema 0-5-10, además se demostró que el grupo control del esquema 0-11-22 obtuvo un porciento mayor de animales en la categoría de hiperrespondedores. Se concluye que la respuesta inmune en ambos grupos tiene intensidad suficiente para levantar títulos de anticuerpos y que las crías donde se aplica el esquema 0-11-22 responden con más intensidad que las del esquema 0-5-10. Schwarzschild Spacetime without Coordinates

Abstract: We discuss how to construct the full Schwarzschild (Kruskal-Szekeres) spacetime in one swoop by using the bundle of orthonormal Lorentz frames and the Einstein equation without the use of coordinates. We never have to write down the Kruskal-Szekeres or an equivalent form of the metric.
Classical Geometry and Target Space Duality

Abstract: This is the written version of lectures presented at Cargese 95. A new formulation for a ``restricted'' type of target space duality in classical two dimensional nonlinear sigma models is presented. The main idea is summarized by the analogy: euclidean geometry is to riemannian geometry as toroidal target space duality is to ``restricted'' target space duality. The target space is not required to possess symmetry. These lectures only discuss the local theory. The restricted target space duality problem is identified with an interesting problem in classical differential geometry.
Target Space Duality I: General Theory

Abstract: We develop a systematic framework for studying target space duality at the classical level. We show that target space duality between manifolds M and Mtilde arises because of the existence of a very special symplectic manifold. This manifold locally looks like M x Mtilde and admits a double fibration. We analyze the local geometric requirements necessary for target space duality and prove that both manifolds must admit flat orthogonal connections. We show how abelian duality, nonabelian duality and Poisson-Lie duality are all special cases of a more general framework. As an example we exhibit new (nonlinear) dualities in the case M = Mtilde = R^n.
Target Space Duality II: Applications

Abstract: We apply the framework developed in Target Space Duality I: General Theory. We show that both nonabelian duality and Poisson-Lie duality are examples of the general theory. We propose how the formalism leads to a systematic study of duality by studying few scenarios that lead to open questions in the theory of Lie algebras. We present evidence that there are probably new examples of irreducible target space duality.
Pseudoduality in Sigma Models

Abstract: We revisit classical "on shell" duality, i.e., pseudoduality, in two dimensional conformally invariant classical sigma models and find some new interesting results. We show that any two sigma models that are "on shell" duals have opposite 1-loop renormalization group beta functions because of the integrability conditions for the pseudoduality transformation. A new result states for any two compact Lie groups of the same dimension there is a natural pseudoduality transformation that maps classical solutions of the WZW model on the first group into solutions of the WZW model on the second group. This transformation preserves the stress-energy tensor. The two groups can be non-isomorphic such as B_n and C_n in the Cartan notation. This transformation can be used for a new construction of non-local conserved currents. The new non-local currents on G depend on the choice of dual group G-tilde.
Target Space Pseudoduality Between Dual Symmetric Spaces

Abstract: A set of on shell duality equations is proposed that leads to a map between strings moving on symmetric spaces with opposite curvatures. The transformation maps "waves" on a riemannian symmetric space to "waves" on its dual riemannian symmetric space. This transformation preserves the energy momentum tensor though it is not a canonical transformation. The preservation of the energy momentum tensor has a natural geometrical interpretation. The transformation maps "particle-like solutions" into static "soliton-like solutions". The results presented here generalize earlier results of E. Ivanov.

Abstract: the identification of new genes related with nicotiana tabacum l. response to biotic and abiotic stress contribute to the genetic improvement of tobacco plants around the world. the aim of this research was to identify tpt1 and pr1 genes in the genomic of some cuban tobacco varieties and species. the microarray technology has been used with ests for the construction of a cdna library. 265 expressed sequences tags (ests) that have never been reported before in vegetables species were identified and the gene that codified for the transcriptional controlled tumor protein (tpt1), has never been reported before in n. tabacum, with the studies about this gene being focused on human and animals mostly. the microarray results were confirmed using quantitative rt- pcr. tctp and pathogenesis-related protein 1 (pr-1) ests were used to design primers for the molecular characterization of some species and cuban tobacco varieties. the tpt1 gene was only expressed in two species (n. glutinosa y n. tomentosiformis) and pr1 gen, after a digestion, exhibited different bands for susceptible and resistant varieties. the detection of these genes in some species and cuban tobacco varieties represents one step to go deeply in the molecular characterization of cuban germoplasm.

Abstract: a prospective and analytical study of the evolution of 34 patients presenting with cervical intraepithelial neoplasm was carried out. patients underwent a multiple excisional biopsy followed by electrocoagulation of the bleeding bed as single treatment for this condition. causal factors present in such patients were assessed such as the presence of papiloma virus, the age of sexual relations onset, parity, and contraceptive methods used by the patient. a coincidence was observed regarding the criteria established in relation to the influence of papiloma virus, an early onset of sexual intercourse and the use of contraceptive devices, particularly in younger women. the therapeutic procedure applied to the women studied was assessed as a good method.
