Yohanix López,Ilena García,Oleg Evio Alegret,Oscar Cruz
Vaccimonitor , 2013,
Chemical sensors as integrated analytical systems
Alegret, Salvador;
Revista mexicana de física , 2006,
Abstract: the term 'integrated analytical systems' illustrates the convergence of different strategies to connect the steps of the analytical process including simplification, automation, communication and miniaturisation. although these strategies or trends are found in other scientific and technological fields, it is with chemical sensors and sensing systems that they take on defined role producing analytical instruments with additional advantages in terms of information, speed, robustness, portability and cost (see table i).
Alegret, Laia;Ortiz, Silvia;
Revista mexicana de ciencias geológicas , 2010,
Abstract: the zumaya section (northern spain, basque-cantabrian basin) has become a reference section for the study of cretaceous and paleogene marine sediments. in order to analyze the paleoenvironmental evolution across the lower paleogene, we carried out a quantitative study ofearly paleogene (cretaceous/ paleogene boundary) to early eocene benthic foraminiferal assemblages in the zumaya section. the relative abundance of the most representative calcareous and agglutinated taxa, as well as the diversity and heterogeneity of the assemblages, were calculated in 72 samples. benthic foraminiferal assemblages indicate a depth of deposition of about 1000 m during the early paleogene, and probably slightly shallower paleodepths during the late danian. we suggest that, in addition to the paleodepth of deposition, other parameters (perturbation of the seafloor, turbidity currents, composition of the sediment) may have controlled the distribution and composition of the benthic assemblages. hence, the abundance of flysch-type agglutinated foraminifera (with organic cement) indicates a high flux of terrigenous, clastic material to the seafloor. this flux was particularly high during the selandian and thanetian. this study allowed us to analyze in detail several global events, such as the cretaceous/paleogene boundary event, the mid-paleocene biotic event, or the paleocene-eocene thermal maximum, where the most significant benthic foraminiferal turnover has been recorded. benthic foraminifera were affected by the cretaceous/paleogene impact event: the drop in diversity of the assemblages and in the percentage of the species reflects variations in the trophic conditions after the boundary. trophic conditions recovered during the danian. agglutinated opportunistic species proliferate during the danian/selandian boundary, although the relation ofthese changes with a possible global hyperthermal event remains to be confirmed. a decrease in the heterogeneity of the assemblages and an increa
Alegret, L.,Aurell, M.
Estudios Geologicos , 1999, DOI: 10.3989/egeol.99555-6163
Abstract: Carbonate facies analysis carried out in the Upper Cretaceous of the Aragonese Prepyrenees (South-Pyrenean Basin) allows us to establish the palaeogeographic and palaeoambiental reconstruction for this area. Three stages have been established in order to show the sedimentary evolution for the Upper Cretaceous. During the Stage 1 (Upper Santonian) the sedimentary domain was initially flooded. In the Stage 2 (lowermost Campanian- Upper Campanian) offshore bars developed at the western and eastern ends; the rest of the sedimentary basin consisted of a shallow carbonate platform whose bottom-floor was inhabited by rudists and benthic foraminifera. During the Stage 3 the generalized shallowing of the platform gave way, during the Maastrichtian, to the continental Garumn facies deposit.
Opposite fates of fructose in the development of metabolic syndrome
Marta Alegret,Juan C Laguna
World Journal of Gastroenterology , 2012, DOI: 10.3748/wjg.v18.i33.4478
Abstract: This short review comments on the recently published work of Ishimoto et al regarding the opposing effects of fructokinase C and A isoforms on fructose-induced metabolic syndrome in mice. The framework for the commentary is the preexisting background of epidemiological and experimental data regarding the association between ingestion of fructose, as present in sweetened beverages, and the development of metabolic syndrome. The work of Ishimoto et al clearly confirms the negative effect of fructose on lipid and glucose metabolism, independently from the amount of energy provided by the ingested sugar. It also confirms the absolute requirement of liver fructose metabolism, driven by fructokinase activity, in order to develop the full spectrum of metabolic syndrome alterations.
Alegret,Joana; Castanys,Elisenda; Ochoa,Susana;
Revista de la Asociación Espa?ola de Neuropsiquiatría , 2005, DOI: 10.4321/S0211-57352005000300004
Abstract: the authors will expose in this article the results of an investigation realized in two community-based child mental health centers located in catalonia, about the achievement, of working in a net of professionals. this study collects all the professional actings concerning a number of selected cases, distinguishing between working directly with the patient and his/her family and working with other professionals. the study intends to establish the type of relationship existing between the fact of working in a net and patient′s diagnosis, family pattern, gender and characteristics of each community mental health center. a second objective is to know the characteristics of the professional net work (pnw) related to consumed time, types of contact and of relationship among professionals. there is a conceptual distinction between coordination and pnw or indirect work. the study puts a especial emphasis to remark that there is a great investment of the professional time schedule dedicated to the indirect work in child and adolescent attention, and this indirect work is one of the fundamental basis that will allow further working with the patient and his/her family, facilitating a functional relationship among services and family.

Abstract: The authors are currently coordinating a three-year researchproject on the changing settlement patterns and ways of life of foreign immigrant populations located in Spanish rural areas. This article offers a wide academic literature review, highlighting those issues that have been most studied and those under-researched or forgotten. Secondly, it approaches the rural areas where thereis a more significant presence of foreign immigrants, offering relevant data and indicating the main sources of information available for their study. Finally, some considerations that may be useful for carrying out future research are suggested.
Function Approximation Using Robust Radial Basis Function Networks  [PDF]
Oleg Rudenko, Oleksandr Bezsonov
Journal of Intelligent Learning Systems and Applications (JILSA) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jilsa.2011.31003
Abstract: Resistant training in radial basis function (RBF) networks is the topic of this paper. In this paper, one modification of Gauss-Newton training algorithm based on the theory of robust regression for dealing with outliers in the framework of function approximation, system identification and control is proposed. This modification combines the numerical ro- bustness of a particular class of non-quadratic estimators known as M-estimators in Statistics and dead-zone. The al- gorithms is tested on some examples, and the results show that the proposed algorithm not only eliminates the influence of the outliers but has better convergence rate then the standard Gauss-Newton algorithm.
Calculation of Standard Thermodynamic Potentials for Na-Zeolites with the Use of Linear Programming Problems  [PDF]
Oleg Viacheslavovich Yeriomin
International Journal of Geosciences (IJG) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ijg.2011.23024
Abstract: Linear programming problems for Na-Al-Si-O-H system have been formulated and solved for calculations of standard enthalpies and Gibbs potentials of zeolites with unknown thermodynamic properties. The calculations are based on dual solutions of linear programming problems. Comparison of numerical results with published data gives relative mistakes of estimations less than one percent. On the basis of calculated potentials the standard entropies have been estimated. The standard thermodynamic potentials for eight natural zeolites with unknown properties have been calculated. The presented method does not demand any information about crystal structure of zeolites and can be applied to any of their stoichiometric presentation.
