Investigaciones geográficas , 2004,
Abstract: this study was carried out in the sierra madrigal, tabasco state, méxico. the purpose was to evalúate the spatial distribution and transformation rate of tropical rain forest in 3 642 ha of sierra madrigal from 1973 to the year 2003. maps of vegetation and land use for the years 1973,1984, and 2003 were made trough the interpretation of aerial photographs at scale 1:20 000. the vegetation and land use were characterized in the field. the rate transformation of land used and vegetation were obtained, and some soil properties were compared, based on the type of vegetation. the tropical rain forest of ramón (brosimum nlicastrum) and huapaque (dialium guianenese) lost 80% of their original distribution ín 30 years. fire was de the principal cause of devastation of the rain forest, which led to the formation of secondary vegetation (56%) and grassland (10%) for cattle use. the change of rain forest to secondary vegetation and grassland diminished the organic matter and nitrogen in the layer of 0 to 30 cm of soil, which indicates a degradation.

Abstract: background: : statins are effective in the control of hypercholesterolemia. however, the therapeutic response to these drugs presents a great inter-individual variability. factors such as age, gender and ethnicity have been associated to this variability. recent studies show that polymorphisms can influence the lipid-lowe-ring response to statins. the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of three polymorphisms 3435c>t (abcb1), 2677g>a/t (abcb1) and -290 a>g (cyp3a4) gene on the response to atorvastatin treatment in chilean hypercholesterolemic individuals. methods: 94 hypercholesterolemic individuals, were treated with atorvastatin, 10mg/day for 4 weeks. we determined serum levels of total cholesterol, hdl-c, ldl-c and triglycerides, before and after treatment. the polymorphisms were analyzed by pcr-rflp. results: significant reductions were observed in total cholesterol (275 ± 18 vs. 235 ± 22 mg/dl, p<0.001), ldl-c (183 ± 16 vs. 146 ± 24 mg/dl, p<0.001) and triglycerides levels (225 ± 48 vs. 172 ± 51 mg/dl, polymorphisms on the therapeutic hypercholesterolemic individuals p<0.001). in addition, an increase in the hdl-c levels was observed (47 ± 10 vs. 55 ± 7, p<0.001). the genotype distribution for 3535c>t variant of abcb1 gene was: cc=47.9%, ct=41.5% and tt=10.6%. the genotype distribution for 2677g>a/t polymorphism (abcb1) was aa=1.1%, ga=14.9%, gt=28.7%, ta=9.6%, tt=8.5% and gg=37.2%. the genotype distribution for -290a>g variant of cyp3a4 gene was: aa=77.7%. ag=22.3% and gg=0.0 %. subjects carrying the g allele for the -290 a>g variant of the cyp3a4 gene, exhibited a greater reduction in total cholesterol (p=0.001) and ldl-c levels (p<0.001). no differences were observed for the other polymorphisms studied. conclusion: this study suggests that the therapeutic response to atorvastatin (10mg/day during 4 weeks) is influenced by the -290 a>g variant of cyp3a4 gene.
Efecto de variantes de los genes ABCB1 y CYP3A4 sobre la respuesta terapéutica a atorvastatina en individuos chilenos hipercolesterolémicos Effect of ABCB1 and CYP3A4 gene polymorphisms on the therapeutic response to atorvastatin in Chilean hypercholesterolemic individuals

Background: : statins are effective in the control of hypercholesterolemia. However, the therapeutic response to these drugs presents a great inter-individual variability. Factors such as age, gender and ethnicity have been associated to this variability. Recent studies show that polymorphisms can influence the lipid-lowe-ring response to statins. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of three polymorphisms 3435C>T (ABCB1), 2677G>A/T (ABCB1) and -290 A>G (CYP3A4) gene on the response to atorvastatin treatment in Chilean hy

Revista de la Sociedad Química de México , 2005,
Abstract: The predominant molecular structure of DL and D-glyceraldehyde has been studied with infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies. Both techniques show that these compounds at room temperature have a minor percentage of the aldehydic form. These studies showed that D-(+)- glyceraldehyde coexists in a minor proportion as a component of a complex mixture of diasteroisomers of the 2,5-dihydroxy-3,6-dihydroxymethyl-1,4-dioxane, while the racemic mixture is made of two main compounds. The stability of the isolated diasteroisomers is controlled by the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds that are formed under the control of the anomeric effect which defines the favored position for the hydroxyl group. The endo and exo-anomeric interactions have their origin in the stereoelectronic interaction nO → σ*C-O. Using theoretical calculations at B3LYP/ 6-31G(d,p) level, it was possible to establish the structure of the favored conformers.
Manzi,Ofelia;
Temas medievales , 2006,
Abstract: the analysis of the miniatures in the ninth century utrecht psalter shows the originality of carolingian work where the relationship between text and image is solved by means of a particular rhetorical language. certain traits in style which in the hellenistic tradition represented mere indicators of landscapes, buildings or various other objects, now acquire a different meaning which can be understood only through a thorough interpretation of their context.in the case of representations of the city it is possible to identify different meanings assigned to iconographic themes which are consistent with established patterns.

Abstract: this paper discusses the different conceptual criteria on violence against women. a reflection on violence as a product of the unequal relation between power-submission is presented, which also includes the force-based struggle amidst sexes and the power compelled over the bodies as a constant.
UN HOMBRE MALTRATADOR DE SU PAREJA QUE PIDE AYUDA Y QUIERE CAMBIAR: UN ESTUDIO DE CASO
Alvarez,Ofelia;
Revista Venezolana de Estudios de la Mujer , 2006,
Abstract: the man maltreating his couple (mmc) scarcely thinks he is committing an aggression to deserve a punishment, or that he has to be helped, not by any means that he needs psychological aid. the few male cases we have looked into bring our attention due to the force of conviction they bear to change, the speed to draw positive conclusions to seize that change, and the perseverance kept for consultation after the decision is made. the analysis on qualitative data aided for the systematisation of experiences about help delivering a model from a case of assistance rendered by the woman study centre of universidad central de venezuela (agreement with fundamujer), using the focused interview (ruiz-ispizúa, 1989). the main results point to the influence in decision on attitudes of the couple, the context of family and neighbourhood, the disagreement for the rejects received and the environment, giving finally a series of elements to reinforce the new position gained which ?clear up? (to use the same words from the subject involved) the knowledge and the road necessary to provide aid, design the prevention and going on the research.
