Dialética e contradi??es da constru??o da identidade social
Furtado, Odair;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822010000200006
Abstract: in this article we aim to discuss the challenges imposed in the work of latin- american psychologists, from the production of knowledge to the practical point of view, which would attend a region of the planet that suffers from endemic problems and at the same time, is of great importance for international financial capital, for big commercial conglomerates. after all, traditional cultural forms survive, cultural constructions that are in constant direct or indirect contact with the cultural ways dominated by the global market. this domination produces important effects on subjective social expressions, the subjective dimensions of reality, reconfiguring the traditional forms of manifestation of culture and demanding strategies of resistance in facing the contradictions between traditional culture and globalized culture. as a way to better understand the functioning of the subjective dimensions, we will discuss the relationship between territory, location of expression of the subject, and the construction of records that require reinterpretation of globalized culture.

Bock, Ana Mercês Bahia;Ferreira, Marcos Ribeiro;Gon?alves, Maria da Gra?a M.;Furtado, Odair;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822007000500018
Abstract: this article presents the main aspects of the academic trajectory of professor sílvia tatiana maurer lane, from the initial proposal of a critical social psychology to the formulation of a project for a socially committed psychology. sílvia lane was a pioneer in theoretical propositions which questioned mainstream brazilian social psychology, emphasizing the need to expose its ties with the dominant economic and political interests and redirecting its production towards social transformation. in her career trajectory she brought together theory and praxis, contributing to the revision of concepts and methods, and to the organization of this area of knowledge. she worked tirelessly in various fronts to produce a social psychology that could recognize the historical character of social and human phenomena and that conceived people as active and historical beings. the text begins by situating her remarkable presence, within this critical perspective, in brazilian and latin american social psychology. in sequence, it presents the main characteristics of her theoretical production concerning the development of a socio-historical social psychology. at the conclusion, it emphasizes her role in consolidating a psychology that is intrinsically compromised with brazilian and latin-american realities; being familiar with this reality, she contributed to the construction of theoretical-practical instruments for its transformation in the direction of a society based on justice and equality. to put is in a different manner, the development of a socially committed psychology.
Boava, Leonardo P;Kuhn, Odair J;Pascholati, Sérgio F;Di Piero, Robson M;Furtado, Edson L;
Tropical Plant Pathology , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1982-56762010000200009
Abstract: to elucidate some biochemical processes during infection in the pathosystem puccinia psidii x eucalyptus, the defense metabolism in different-stage leaves was compared between rust-resistant and susceptible clones, respectively. in addition, chitinase and peroxidase activities were assayed. each treatment consisted of 4 replicates, in a completely randomized design: 2 clones, inoculated and not inoculated with p. psidii; sprayed with acibenzolar-s-methyl (asm) and distilled water; and represented by the 1st leaf pair (size equivalent to 1/5 total leaf development), 2nd pair (2/5 total development), and 4th pair (4/5 total leaf length). leaves were harvested in 4 periods: 0, 24, 72 and 96 hours after inoculation. results indicated that asm treatment or p. psidii action led to higher chitinase and peroxidase activity level but did not alter the expression of these activities in developed leaves (4th pair) during the experiment. alterations in enzyme levels after inoculation were only observed in developing leaves (1st and 2nd pairs), which suggests that the response to infection was concomitant to chitinase and peroxidase synthesis. the highest increases in enzymatic activities were observed in resistant clones at 72 hours after inoculation and in susceptible ones previously treated with asm and later inoculated with the pathogen.
Boava, Leonardo Pires;Kuhn, Odair José;Pascholati, Sérgio Florentino;Di Piero, Robson Marcelo;Furtado, Edson Luiz;
Summa Phytopathologica , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-54052010000200012
Abstract: this study was aimed at verifying the effect of biotic and abiotic resistance inducers on the activities of chitinase and peroxidase as well as on the reduction of rust caused by puccinia psidii in eucalyptus. thus, seedlings of two 60-day eucalyptus clones were kept in a greenhouse and treated with bion? (acibenzolar-s-methyl, asm), agro-mos?, saccharomyces cerevisiae, dipel?, ecolife 40?, and crop-set?, at 5 days before the pathogen inoculation. a suspension of p. psidii uredospores, collected from naturally infected plants, was adjusted to 5 x 104 uredospores/ml. inoculation was carried out onto the dorsal leaf surface and 15 days later the disease severity was assessed according to a grading scale. asm, s. cerevisiae and ecolife treatments presented the best results for disease control, and the remaining treatments were not effective. chitinase and peroxidase activity assay only included the two first treatments (asm and s. cerevisiae). the increase in the activity of these enzymes was observed at 48 hours after the fungus inoculation in both clones previously treated with inducers.
Aguiar, Marcelo Sfeir de;Ferreira, Daniel Furtado;Aguiar, Aurélio Mendes;Bison, Odair;Rezende, Gabriel Dehon Sampaio Pe?anha;Grattapaglia, Dario;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2007000700013
Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of microsatellite markers to predict the performance of hybrids among elite clones of eucalypt from aracruz celulose. twenty one elite clones were crossed in a full-diallel mating scheme. one hundred and thirty seven hybrids, 21 parents and 11 repeated hybrids were evaluated in three sites: aracruz, s?o mateus and caravelas, in an experimental design of incomplete blocks 13x13 with 40 replicates, comprising single plant plot and spaced 3x3 m. the characters evaluated were the circumference at breast height (cbh) and the wood basic density, two years after the planting. means were submitted to diallel analysis and, later, the correlation between the genetic divergence of parents by microsatellite markers and the estimative of diallel parameters were obtained. the genetic divergence was correlated with the specific combining ability to cbh height and with the means of hybrids to the same character. the other coefficients of correlation with the genetic divergence were not significantly different from zero. the prediction by microsatellite markers is of little accuracy to be utilized in place of diallel estimates.
Educa??o e psicologia social: uma perspectiva crítica
SASS, ODAIR;
Sass, Odair;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302003000400013
Abstract: discussed in this article is the relevance of recurring psycho-pedagogical problems originated inside and outside formal education, as well as the dubious intention to regularize psycho-pedagogy as yet another profession within the educational sphere. emphasized here is the question of regularizing the university professions in brazil and the varied roots of psycho-pedagogy from the period immediately following the second world war onward.
Sass, Odair;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302011000400005
Abstract: this paper discusses the relationship between psychology and statistics in the field of education. it shows that such relation is not limited to the explanation of the inexorable scientific progress. rather, it cannot be dissociated from the objective achievement of technological rationality, which is characteristic of the industrial and administered society. this perspective is first explored through psychotechnics, using an important moment of the development of the intelligence concept exemplified by the bi-factorial theory of spearman. then, the text resorts to the application of psychological and educational tests in brazilian primary schools, as promoted by two educators, isaias alves and louren?o filho.
Creating affinity: formal friendship and matrimonial alliances among the Jê people and the Apinaje case
Giraldin, Odair;
Vibrant: Virtual Brazilian Anthropology , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1809-43412011000200018
Abstract: this article analyzes the link between formal friendship and a matrimonial system among the apinaje people. starting with an analysis of formal friendship among the jê, it presents existing similarities and differences among various peoples in the same linguistic family. then, after describing the apinaje's formal friendship formed by nimuendajú and damatta, a formal friendship transmission model among the apinaje is proposed. finally, the paper shows that formal friendship recreates a virtual system of moieties, and based on ethnographic data argues that formal friendship is used for creating affinity in social relationships, overlapping, in some cases, consanguinity.
