Sobre reescritura y vigencia de la picaresca en la narrativa hispanoamericana: Patas de perro de Carlos Droguett
Rodríguez Ferrer,Rocío;
Acta literaria , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-68482011000200002
Abstract: the article develops a reading of the chilean novel patas de perro in his possible configuration as picaresque novel. this allows to pay attention, on the one hand, to features of configuration so much structural as semantics and, on the other hand, to approach from a different perspective two central subject matters of the latin-american contemporary studies: the marginality and the construction and validation of the subject. likewise, it makes possible a rereading of the classic spanish tradition on having warned that it raises problematic that they have very much of current.
Ecology for Whom?: Deep Ecology and the Death of Anthropocentrism
Ferrer Monta?o,Orlando José;
Opción , 2006,
Abstract: deep ecology arises as a new perception to visualize the inexorable changes that humanity currently confronts. this new scientific-philosophical-religious approach claims for a new treatment for the earth. however, this new eco-centered approach transcends the limit of any particular science of today, and claims that simple reforms are not sufficient. deep ecology calls for a reduction of human population and change to our high-energy consumption and profligate resource use. anthropocentrism should be substituted by ecocentrism; a shift from anthropos, the human, to eco, the earth. although i am not an advocated to deep ecology, in this paper i present a series of thoughts endorsing some of the deep ecology?s claims. i argue that deep ecological thinking and actions, together with a better use of our scientific, economic and natural resources will add for a better and lasting global world.

Ecology for Whom? Deep Ecology and the Death of Anthropocentrism
Skyrmion dynamics in quantum Hall ferromagnets
A. Villares Ferrer,A. O. Caldeira
Physics , 1999,
Abstract: Exploring a classical solution of the non-linear sigma model for a quantum Hall ferromagnet, a skyrmion-magnon effective hamiltonian is obtained via the collective coordinates method. Using the Feynman-Vernon functional integral formalism for this model we find the temperature dependent transport coefficients which characterize a single skyrmion dynamics.
Domain-wall profile in the presence of anisotropic exchange interactions: Effective on-site anisotropy
A. O. Garcia Rodriguez,A. Villares Ferrer,A. O. Caldeira
Physics , 2003, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.69.212403
Abstract: Starting from a D-dimensional XXZ ferromagnetic Heisenberg model in an hypercubic lattice, it is demonstrated that the anisotropy in the exchange coupling constant leads to a D-dependent effective on-site anisotropy interaction often ignored for D>1. As a result the effective width of the wall depends on the dimensionality of the system. It is shown that the effective one-dimensional Hamiltonian is not the one-dimensional XXZ version as assumed in previous theoretical work. We derive a new expression for the wall profile that generalizes the standard Landau-Lifshitz form. Our results are found to be in very good agreement with earlier numerical work using the Monte Carlo method. Preceding theories concerning the domain wall contribution to magnetoresistance have considered the role of D only through the modification of the density of states in the electronic band structure. This Brief Report reveals that the wall profile itself contains an additional D dependence for the case of anisotropic exchange interactions.
Tratamiento de la obstrucción del conducto lacrimal con el stent Tear-Leader

Archivos de la Sociedad Espa?ola de Oftalmología , 2009, DOI: 10.4321/S0365-66912009001000006
Abstract: purpose: to compare the effectiveness and patency of the tearleader stent (pbn) for treatment of lacrimal system obstruction. methods: a prospective study of 68 patients referred from the ophthalmology department with suspicion of lacrimal system obstruction. we placed 74 tearleader pbn stents. inclusion criteria were: complete obstruction of lacrimal duct with canalicula and lacrimal puncta patency, and absence of acute infection. we studied the clinical improvement by means of an opinion survey, and the patency of stents was evaluated with kaplan-meier survival curves. results: follow-up of patients was two years. a painful procedure was reported in 10% of cases. minor dacryocystitis appeared in 18.9% of cases, while complete resolution of epiphora was confirmed in 77% of cases (23% of cases showed grade i epiphora). patency of stents: median patency 490 days (15 months), range 11 to 730 days; 1 year after stent placement patency was 0.51 and long term patency rate for 2 years was 0.31. opinion survey of the 68 patients: satisfaction with the technique, the procedure and prosthesis placement was 41%; satisfaction whilst the stent remained patent was 60.8%. conclusion: tearleader stent placement is easy to perform and comfortable for patients. tearleader placement gave a patency outcome similar to other stents.

Revista de la Facultad de Agronomía , 2004,
Abstract: the main objective of the present study was to set extraction and precipitation conditions for the soluble proteins of the leaves of dwarf elephant grass in order to obtain a protein concentrate suitable as a feed for simple-gutted animals. an alkaline solution was used as extracting agent at two solid liquid ratios (1:10 y 1:15), different ph conditions (between 10 and 12.60), temperatures (between 30 and 90°c) and times (between 5 and 30 min), applied to 5 g (dry weight) of grass. the extracted true protein was determined by lowry's method. precipitation conditions were evaluated at ph 4 and 4.5 and temperatures of 50, 65 and 80 °c. extraction of protein was not affected by time (p>.05), decreased with increasing temperature (p<.05), and increased with increasing ph (p<.05). the greatest yield of extraction, 11.7%, was obtained at ph 12.60, 30°c and a solid liquid ratio of 1:15 for 5 min. the highest precipitation yield, 62.51%, was obtained at 50°c and ph 4. the concentrate had a protein content of 27.93% and the protein turned out to be limiting in phenyl alanine and methionine for swine and poultry.

Revista Cubana de Medicina General Integral , 1998,
Abstract: an intervention study of the diabetic population over 15 from the working basic group no. 2 of the municipal polyclinic in santiago de cuba was conducted from november, 1993 to november, 1995, aimed at increasing the level of knowledge of these patients as regards the treatment and control of their disease by means of health education techniques. the percentages of different variables analyzed were calculated and test of statistical significance were applied for the validation of the results. there was a predominance of the female sex (statistically significant) and of the age group 55-64. in more than half of the patients the disease appeated among those aged 45 and over. it was proved that at the beginning most of the patients had very little information about their disease, treatment and self-control, but that it was also possible to improve their knowledge and to modify their behaviour by using the role playing educational techniques, among others
