Revista ingeniería de construcción , 2008, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-50732008000200003
Abstract: success has always been the ultimate goal of construction projects, and different researchers have tried to evaluate it using different factors. although specialized industrial construction usually involves very large scale projects with a high degree of technological complexity, research has mostly focused on civil and residential success factors. experiences in industrial plants projects can help to improve project management and productivity in such a specialized sector. in this kind of projects, the contractual arrangement is one of the core differences on project management and thus project success. this research seeks to develop a schema for classifying critical success factors as well as a methodology for evaluating projects. this methodology was adopted to evaluate critical success factors in industrial plants projects with different contractual arrangements. findings suggest that although the construction stage has been the focus of many studies, the first stages are decisive for the success of projects; contract construction projects consider project planning to be more important; lump sum contract construction projects give greater importance to monitoring the benefits; bidding competition projects consider the available technology with greater rigor, etc. the results indicate that different industrial plants projects involve different success factors and management characteristics to achieve project objectives.

Albert Casals
Glosa or improvised song is the name given to a communicative activity that takes place within a community and is channelled through improvised verses sung to tunes with traditional roots. The first part of the paper deals with the arrangement of the lyrics, music and performance of this musical poetic form in order to subsequently present the Corrandescola project. It shows how this project has developed a didactic proposal that has been put into practice in several schools
Entre el ocaso y la ilusión. Hannah Arendt y las posibilidades creadores de la acción humana / Between Decline and Hope. Hannah Arendt and the Creating Possibilities of Human Action
Marcelo Casals
Revista SudHistoria , 2010,
Abstract: The lack of hope in the XX Century, the extremes of exterminating totalitarianism and the inhumanity of mass societies have put in check the concept of human being and his collective creative abilities. Hannah Arendt, intellectual, of Jew-German origins, characterized her own intellectual work for a deep analysis concerning these aspects. In the following article it is pretend to analyze her proposal in base to the “action” concept, understanding this as the human ability to create innovation and impressibility in a collective manner, and insert it in an equality and liberty environment.
Electromagnetic Quantum Field Theory on Kerr-Newman Black Holes
Marc Casals
Physics , 2008,
Abstract: We study classical and quantum aspects of electromagnetic perturbations on black hole space-times. We develop an elegant formalism introduced by Wald, which sets up the theory of linear perturbations in a Type-D background in a compact and transparent manner. We derive expressions for the electromagnetic potential in terms of the single Newman-Penrose scalar \phi_0.This enables the formulation of the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field as that of a complex scalar field. We study the separable field equations obeyed by the various Newman-Penrose scalars in the Kerr-Newman background and find, for various limits, the asymptotic behaviour of the radial and angular solutions. We correct and build on a study by Breuer, Ryan and Waller to find a uniformly valid asymptotic behaviour for large frequency of the angular solutions and the eigenvalues. We follow Candelas, Chrzanowski and Howard (CCH) in their canonical quantization of the electromagnetic potential and field. We perform an asymptotic analysis of the form of the renormalized stress-energy tensor (RSET) in the past Boulware state close to the horizon. Unlike results in CCH, its leading order behaviour close to the horizon corresponds to minus the stress tensor of a thermal distribution at the Hawking temperature rigidly rotating with the horizon. We prove that expressions in CCH for the expectation value of the stress tensor in the past Boulware, past Unruh and |CCH> states lead to a lack of symmetry of the RSET under parity, even though this is a symmetry of the physical system. We derive the correct symmetric expressions and present a detailed analysis of the resulting RSETs.
Overtwisted Disks and Exotic Symplectic Structures
Roger Casals
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: The symplectization of an overtwisted contact structure in Euclidean 3--space is shown to be an exotic symplectic structure on Euclidean 4--space. The technique can be extended to produce exotic symplectic structures in higher dimensional Euclidean spaces using a GPS--structure and applies to symplectizations of appropriate open contact manifolds.
Planas, Nuria;Iranzo, Nuria;
Revista latinoamericana de investigación en matemática educativa , 2009,
Abstract: in this article, a part of model to analyze the description and interpretation of interactions inside the mathematics classroom is presented. the importance of real classroom cases that contribute to the deconstruction and interpretation of the mathematics classroom is argued from the double prospective of the mathematical content and the social interactions. to do so, the operational use and the integration of notions associated with different theoretical traditions, especially the ones related to mathematical practices, sociomathematical norms, and conflict of meanings are presented. once the analytical model is described, its use is applied to a transcribed episode of a lesson in a secondary classroom of barcelona, spain. finally, reflections about the interest and potential of the model to generate scientific knowledge about the interaction in teaching and learning mathematics situations are discussed.
Casals-Peidró,Elías;
RCOE , 2005, DOI: 10.4321/S1138-123X2005000400002
Abstract: introduction: according to the available scientific evidence, the mechanical and chemical control of the bacterial plaque biofilm supplemented by the use of local fluorides is established as the cornerstone in the maintenance of healthy teeth. the international dental federation (fdi) establishes dental brushing with a fluoridated toothpaste twice per day as the basic personal dental tooth cleaning pattern, which could be improved with the use of additional elements of interproximal hygiene (as dental floss or interproximal brushes) or the adjunctive action of mouthwashes (antiseptic or fluoridated). material and method: data are compiled regarding oral hygiene habits of the spanish population (schoolchildren and adults) by means of health questionnaires and through market research of product sales (toothbrushes and mouthrinses) and are related to the epidemiology of caries and periodontal disease. results: personal tooth cleaning habits in spain, in spite of a positive evolution in the last years, are still far from the pattern of desirable excellence and among the worst of developed countries patterns. conclusions: in order to obtain a better oral health of the spanish population, their habits of oral hygiene must be improved.
