Inflation targeting and exchange rate pass-through
Nogueira Junior, Reginaldo Pinto;
Economia Aplicada , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502007000200002
Abstract: the paper presents evidence on exchange rate pass-through (erpt) for a set of emerging markets before and after the adoption of inflation targeting (it). some developed economies are also analysed for comparison. we use an ardl model to estimate the short-run and the long-run effects of depreciations on consumer and producer prices. the results show that erpt has declined after it for both price indexes. nonetheless, this reduction does not mean that erpt is no longer existent, especially over the long-run.
Inflation environment and lower exchange rate pass-through in Brazil: is there a relationship?
Nogueira Junior, Reginaldo Pinto;
Revista Brasileira de Economia , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71402010000100003
Abstract: recent studies have suggested that the shift from a high to a low inflation environment induces a decline in the degree of exchange rate pass-through (erpt) into prices. in this paper we present empirical evidence on this matter for brazil, applying a smooth transition regression model and testing lagged inflation as a potential transition variable. the results presented in this paper go in line with the literature, and suggest that the lower erpt largely documented for brazil in recent years may also be a corollary of low and stable inflation.

Influência de alguns compostos químicos na reten??o do ácido ascórbico em frutas liofilizadas"
Fonseca, Homero;Nogueira, Jo?o Nunes;Leme Junior, Jorge;
Anais da Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz , 1972, DOI: 10.1590/S0071-12761972000100024
Abstract: in the present work the effects of edta, potassium metabisulfite and potassium metabisulfite + tartaric acid were studied in the retention of ascorbic acid during freeze-drying and storage of west indies cherry (malpighia punicifolia (l.) and of strawberry (flagaria vesca l.). the results and the statistical analysis showed that all treatments were significantly superior to the control. it was also observed that potassium metabisulfite + tartaric acid was slightly better than the other treatments but not statistically significant.
Visualiza??o do manto cerebral após tratamento de hidrocéfalo congênito: relato de um caso
Cavalcanti, Carlos Eduardo;Jansen, Edson;Castro Junior, Adelman Nogueira de;
Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria , 1986, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-282X1986000200014
Abstract: the purpose of this report is to analize the case of a newborn with hydrocephalus who, after a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt, began to develop close to normal from a neurological viewpoint, as well as showing computerized tomografical visualization of the cerebral mantle, not observed in earlier tests.

Abstract: in this study we evaluate the contribution of external skeletal fixation devices and intramedullary pins in the functional recovery of healthy dogs. sixteen healthy dogs have been divided into two experimental groups of 8 dogs each. the first group was submitted to external skeletal fixation devices and the second group was submitted to intramedullary pins in the left tibia. the external skeletal fixation was taken out by the thirtieth day of the clinical evaluation. the dogs that were submitted to external fixation devices had functional recovery of the studied limb of 17.3 days (in average), while those submitted to intramedullary pins had the functional recovery of the limb in 4.2 days. we concluded that the intramedullary pins have less interference in the functional recovery of the affected limb when compared to the external skeletal fixation devices.
Micorriza arbuscular em cupua?u e pupunha cultivados em sistema agroflorestal e em monocultivo na Amaz?nia Central
Silva Junior, José Pereira da;Cardoso, Elke Jurandy Bran Nogueira;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2006000500014
Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization in peach palm (bactris gasipaes kunth) and cupua?u (theobroma grandiflorum (willd ex spring) k. schum), in agroforestry systems and monoculture in the central amazon region, and to identify anatomic characteristics of mycorrhizal colonization in these species. soil and root samples were collected in the field, in the dry and rainy season. mycorrhizal root colonization of cupua?u and peach palm is affected by the management systems, with higher colonization rates in the monoculture system. total spore density of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi under cupua?u is not affected by management systems or season, but under peach palm this variation is season dependent. mycorrhizal colonization of arum and paris types occur in peach palm, and only arum type occurs in cupua?u.

Thymidylate synthase gene (TYMS) polymorphisms in sporadic and hereditary breast cancer

BMC Research Notes , 2012, DOI: 10.1186/1756-0500-5-676
Abstract: In this study we included a total of 204 subjects, 70 with BC (33 with SBC, and 37 with HBC) and 134 healthy subjects (controls). The Polymerase Chain Reaction was the method used.Results demonstrated a high frequency of the 3R allele at BC, SBC, and HBC groups. The frequency of genotype 2R/3R was significantly higher in BC group. This work showed association between the 2R/3R variants (OR = 4.14, CI95% = 1.77-9.71) in the development of SBC, and 2R/2R (OR = 0.233, CI95% = 1.63-7.65) and 2R/3R (OR = 3.53, CI95% = 0.06-0.81) for developing HBC. To BC, there was association with the genotype 2R/3R (OR: 3.79, CI95% = 2.03-7.08).Our results show relation to the development of BC in association with the analyzed polymorphisms.Breast cancer (BC) is a genetic disease characterized by an out of control growing breast cells, resulting in cellular proliferation, invasion of surrounding tissues and other organs, with possibility of metastasis [1]. BC is the second leading cancer in the population, it is the most common cancer among women, and the second leading cause of death within them, with approximately 460.000 deaths/year worldwide [1,2].In recent years risk factors for BC have been identified, although the etiology of the disease is still not understood. Risk factors that contribute to the development of BC include age, ethnicity, reproduction, some kind of hormones, lifestyle, bone density, genetic factors [3] and family history [4]. The majority of hereditary breast cancer (HBC) susceptibility can be attributed to germline mutations of to Breast Cancer 1 and Breast Cancer 2 genes (BRCA1 and BRCA2), which are responsible for 30-40% of HBC. Clinically, the basis of HBC is established at an early age, family history, bilateral BC, male BC, ovarian and/or tube cancer, and lower survival when compared to the sporadic form [5].Most of BC are sporadic (SBC), resulting from gene mutations, uncorrected, located in somatic cells, and unrelated to germline mutation. Risk factors
