PLOS ONE , 2012, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0037007
Abstract: Mixed virus infections in plants are common in nature and their interactions affecting host plants would depend mainly on plant species, virus strains, the order of infection and initial amount of inoculum. Hence, the prediction of outcome of virus competition in plants is not easy. In this study, we applied evolutionary game theory to model the interactions between Hibiscus latent Singapore virus (HLSV) and Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) in Nicotiana benthamiana under co-infection in a plant host. The accumulation of viral RNA was quantified using qPCR at 1, 2 and 8 days post infection (dpi), and two different methods were employed to predict the dominating virus. TMV was predicted to dominate the game in the long run and this prediction was confirmed by both qRT-PCR at 8 dpi and the death of co-infected plants after 15 dpi. In addition, we validated our model by using data reported in the literature. Ten out of fourteen reported co-infection outcomes agreed with our predictions. Explanations were given for the four interactions that did not agree with our model. Hence, it serves as a valuable tool in making long term predictions using short term data obtained in virus co-infections.
Effect of Fine-Grained Lexical Rating on L2 Learners’ Lexical Learning Gain  [PDF]
Ruiying Niu
Open Journal of Modern Linguistics (OJML) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojml.2015.55038
Abstract: In assessing L2 lexical learning, especially initial learning, researchers always face the problem of whether partial word learning should be counted. Existing studies have either counted partial word learning (i.e. counted both partial and complete word learning) or have only counted complete word learning. However, it is not clear whether counting partial word learning makes a difference in capturing task-based and intra-learner lexical learning gain. Few studies have investigated this potential difference and even fewer if both productive and receptive lexical learning are considered. The present study employed differently fine-grained word rating methods to assess three Chinese EFL learner groups’ performances on four vocabulary posttests after receiving three treatment tasks: a written output task, an oral output task, and a reading task. Data analyses revealed that the use of differently fine-grained scoring methods did not necessarily affect learners’ cross-task lexical learning effects significantly, but it did make a significant difference in measuring individual learners’ lexical learning gain. The findings are discussed with reference to whether and how a less or more fine-grained scoring method should be adopted in rating lexical learning.
An Analysis of E-Commerce Enterprises Sustainable Development and Financing Structure  [PDF]
Yucao Niu
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2016.65106
Abstract: O2O (Online to Offline) is a kind of new e-commerce mode and has brought new development opportunities for e-commerce enterprises. Through investing and financing, some e-commerce enterprises improved their performance rapidly in the short term. But some face serious operational risk, even bankruptcy. It’s still a question whether the e-commerce enterprises have achieved sustainable development or not. The relationship between financing structure and sustainable development needs to be studied. Based on the sustainable development theory and Higgins sustainable growth model, this paper uses SPSS to analyze the financial statement data of 98 listed e-commerce companies. The empirical results reveal that actual growth rates don’t match the sustainable growth rates, which means that E-commerce enterprises don’t achieve sustainable growth. And the sustainable growth rate is correlated with the financing structure. Lastly, this paper puts forward constructive suggestions about financing structure adjustment.

Urban Housing Prices, Labor Mobility and the Development of Urban High-Tech Industries
—An Empirical Analysis Based on Panel Data in the Pearl River Delta Region

Zhengyi Niu
Modern Economy (ME) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/me.2019.103070
Abstract: This paper proposes two hypotheses that urban housing prices inhibit urban labor mobility and urban high-tech industry development by introducing the extended CP model of housing prices. On this basis, using the data of the 9-city data of the Pearl River Delta from 2001 to 2015 to conduct empirical analysis and testing through the fixed-effects model, it is found that the increase of relative housing prices in cities will promote urban labor inflows and inhibit the development of urban high-tech industries. Factors such as education level, medical level, and government budget expenditure will, to a certain extent, strengthen the role of relative housing prices in promoting labor inflows and weaken the inhibition of urban housing prices on high-tech industries.

Abstract: With the continuous economic and social development and progress, Guangdong Province, while maintaining rapid economic growth, environmental conditions are deteriorating. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the coordinated development of ecological environment and economy in Guangdong. While the Environmental Kuznets Curve is the curve describing the relationship between environmental pressure and income per capita, this paper briefly introduces the research background and significance of this topic and the status quo of domestic and foreign research, and then introduces the economic development and the status of environmental quality of Guangdong. Then, it uses the EKC model to analyze the relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution in Guangdong, and analyzes shape and position of the EKC of Guangdong. Finally, it provides some suggestions for the coordinated development of environment and economy in Guangdong.

计算机应用 , 2008,
Abstract: QoS is a key requirement for applications to ensure tasks running in grid, but the processing of QoS parameters is too complicated currently. A new grid QoS model that optimized the QoS process was proposed. As to the model requirement, QoS infrastructure was presented, and scheduling optimizing algorithm was described based on the model. The experiments show that the scheduling optimizing algorithm is efficient on task completion time and improves the resource utilization ratio within grid computing economy environments.

Abstract: Objective To explore the relationship between polymorphisms of XbaI and MspI loci of apolipoprotein B (ApoB) gene and -75 bp, +83 bp loci of apolipoprotein AI (ApoAI) gene and coronary heart disease (CHD) in Kazaks of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. Methods These loci were analyzed by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-PFLP). Two hundred and five patients with CHD and two hundred and thirty six controls were involved. Results There were significant distinctions among low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglyceride (TG) and the ApoAI/ApoB ratio between the two groups, but no significant distinction among the polymorphism frequencies of the four sites between the two groups. The polymorphism coalition frequency of X--/Ms++/M1+-/M2++ (named Coalition 11) was significantly higher in CHD compared to the control group (14.6% vs. 7.2%, P < 0.05). The level of total cholesterol (TC) in Coalition 11 was significantly higher and the level of the ApoAI/ApoB ratio in Coalition 11 was significantly lower than Coalition 1~10 in CHD patients. The level of the ApoAI/ApoB ratio of Coalition 11 was significantly lower than the Coalition 1~10 in control group. The levels of ApoAI/ApoB ratio of Coalition 3 were significantly higher compared to Coalition 11 in the two groups, respectively. The level of LDL-C of Coalition 3 was significantly lower than in the Coalition 11 in control group. The level of TC of Coalition 5 was significantly higher than Coalition 3 in the CHD group. The level of the ApoAI/ApoB ratio of Coalition 5 was significantly lower than in Coalition 3 or Coalition 1~10 of the two groups, respectively. The level of LDL-C of Coalition 5 was significantly higher than in Coalition 3 in control group. The ratio of ApoAI/ApoB was negatively related to TC, LDL-C and was positively related to HDL-C, both in CHD and control groups. Conclusion Coalition 11 of the 4 loci polymorphisms of the ApoB and ApoAI genes was correlated with CHD in Kazaks, and perhaps the ratio of ApoAI/ApoB was the most diagnostic parameter related with CHD among all lipid parameters. CHD may also be associated with Coalition 5, and, perhaps, Coalition 3 may have been confirmed as a protection factor against CHD, if more samples were enrolled.

Abstract: A novel gene (designated as cen219) encoding endoglucanase was isolated from a Bursaphelenchus xylophilus metagenomic library by functional screening. Sequence analysis revealed that cen219 encoded a protein of 367 amino acids. SDS-PAGE analysis of purified endoglucanase suggested that Cen219 was a monomeric enzyme with a molecular mass of 40 kDa. The optimum temperature and pH for endoglucanase activity of Cen219 was separately 50°C and 6.0. It was stable from 30 to 50°C, and from pH 4.0 to 7.0. The activity was significantly enhanced by Mn2+ and dramatically reduced by detergent SDS and metals Fe3+, Cu2+ or Hg2+. The enzyme hydrolyzed a wide range of β-1, 3-, and β-1, 4-linked polysaccharides, with varying activities. Activities towards microcrystalline cellulose and filter paper were relatively high, while the highest activity was towards oat gum. The Km and Vmax of Cen219 towards CMC was 17.37 mg/ml and 333.33 U/mg, respectively. The findings have an insight into understanding the molecular basis of host–parasite interactions in B. xylophilus species. The properties also make Cen219 an interesting enzyme for biotechnological application.
