Effect of Probabilistic Pattern on System Voltage Stability in Decentralized Hybrid Power System  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper presents an proportional integral (PI) based voltage-reactive power control for wind diesel based decentralized hybrid power system with wide range of disturbances to demonstrate the compensation effect on system with intelligent tuning methods such as genetic algorithm (GA), artificial neural network (ANN) and adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The effect of probabilistic load and/or input power pattern is introduced which is incorporated in MATLAB simulink model developed for the study of decentralized hybrid power system. Results show how tuning method becomes important with high percentage of probabilistic pattern in system. Testing of all tuning methods shows that GA, ANN and ANFIS can preserve optimal performances over wide range of disturbances with superiority to GA in terms of settling time using Integral of Square of Errors (ISE) criterion as fitness function.

Abstract: A mobile ad-hoc network is an autonomous collection of mobile nodes that communicate over bandwidth constrained wireless links. Due to nodal mobility, the network topology may change rapidly and unpredictably over time. The routing protocols meant for wired network cannot be used for mobile ad-hoc network because of mobility of network. A number of routing protocols like Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector (DSDV), Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), and Temporally Ordered Routing Algorithm have been implemented. The ad-hoc routing protocols can be divided into two classes; Table-Driven and On-Demand. This paper examines two routing protocols for mobile ad-hoc networks—the Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV), the table-driven protocol and the Ad-Hoc On- Demand Distance Vector routing (AODV), an on-demand protocol and propose an algorithm that facilitates efficient routing of the packet and failure recovery mechanism

Abstract: Variations in fetal heart rate (FHR) is a potential indicator of stress on unborn in the womb of mother. In hospitals, FHR surveillance is performed by ultrasound based Doppler equip-ments. However, recent studies show that frequent exposure to ultrasound radiations is not recommended for the fetal well-being. Because of this and many other reasons, these instruments are not recommended for prolonged home monitoring applications. This work is focused around development of a prototype system for fetal home monitoring application. Presented system can record the abnormal FHR and alert the pregnant women to report to a physician. Recorded data is then processed by a novel methodology for deriving results of diagnostic importance. The instrument has been tested on pregnant women in the clinical environment and has gone through an extensive clinical trial at local hospitals. The results show that the technique is suitable and effective for long-term FHR home monitoring application.
Design of Low Noise 16-bit CMOS Digitally Controlled Oscillator

Abstract: In this paper, a new differential delay cell is proposed and 16-bit Digital Controlled Oscillator (DCO) based on proposed delay cell is designed. The 16-bit DCO consist of 4-stages differential delay cell in ring structure and a digital control scheme has been used to improved noise characteristics. The structure of the DCO utilizes dual delay path techniques to achieve high oscillation frequency and awide tuning range. The DCO circuit has been simulated in SPICE with 0.5μm technology operating with supply voltage of 5V. DCO achieved a controllable frequency range of [1.7324-4.8649] GHz with a tuningrange of 3.1325GHz (≈64%). The measured output noise is -161.2dB/Hz and the total harmonic distortion have been found 75.4865dB with 6666H control word. The phase noise in proposed DCO design is -179.4dB/Hz at a frequency of 1.7324GHz.
SYNTHESIS AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF BUTANONE THIOSEMICARBAZONE AND THEIR METALLIC COMPLEXES

Abstract: In present work, Ligand butanone thiosemicarbazone and their 11 complexes of the type ML2X2, ML2X’, where M = Cu(II), Cd(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Hg(II); L = butanone thiosemicarbazone; X = Cl, NO3 or CH3COO; X’ = SO4 have been synthesized and characterized with the help of infra-red and ultra-violet spectroscopy. The spectral data revealed that the thiosemicarbazone act as bidentate ligand, making use of thionic sulphur and the azomethine nitrogen atom for co-ordination to the central metal atom. All the compounds have been screened for their antibacterial activity against Gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Gram negative bacteria Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Some of complexes exhibited appreciable activity.
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINED RELEASE MATRIX TABLET OF DICLOFENAC SODIUM USING NATURAL POLYMER

Abstract: In the present investigation an attempt has been made to study the formulation and evaluation of matrix tablets of diclofenac sodium using natural mucilage of Abelmoschus esculentus as a release retardant. The mucilage was extracted from the fruit of Abelmoschus esculentus using acetone. The mucilage was characterized for physiochemical and powder characteristics. The matrix tablets were formulated using different drug polymer ratio (1:0.25, 1:0.5, 1:0.75, 1:1). The developed formulations of tablets were evaluated for pre-compression and post-compression parameters. The results of pre-compression parameters like bulk density, tapped density, Carr’s index and Hausner’s ratio were found to be within the limits indicating good flow properties of the granules. Swelling index reveals that with increasing mucilage concentration there is increased swelling showing 51.34% for F4 at the end of 5 h where as for F1 and F2 it was around 43.43 % and 44.47 % respectively. In-vitro drug release for F4 formulation was found to be 98.97% at the end of 10 h. With increase in mucilage concentration the drug release from the matrix tablets got retarded. In-vitro drug release data obtained were fitted to various release models access the possible mechanism of drug release. All the formulations showed matrix (exponential model) as a best fit model and the release mechanism was found to be anomalous (non Fickian) transport mechanism. Therefore both diffusion and erosion mechanism was play role release from natural gum. Matrix tablets of diclofenac sodium using natural mucilage of Abelmoschus esculentus as a release retardant could be employed for retardant drug release. The matrix tablet prepared by Abelmoschus esculentus mucilage as drug polymer ratio of 1:1 (F4 formulation) provide better zero order release kinetics compared to marketed tablet Voveran SR 50mg.
PHARMACOGNOSTIC AND PHYTOCHEMICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF BARK OF TECOMELLA UNDULATA SEEM

Abstract: The plant Tecomella undulata belongs to family Bignoniaceae, a deciduous or nearly evergreen tree of desert or dry regions. The plant is useful for planting in shelterbelt plantations and may become an important agro-forestry tree in arid and semi-arid areas for the production of high quality timber, in addition to fuel wood and fodder. Pharmacognostic investigation of fresh, powdered and anatomical sections of bark of Tecomella undulata were carried out to determine its macromorphological, micromorphological and chemomicromorphological profiles. Phytochemical investigation indicated the preparation of different extracts using different solvents and phytochemical tests for confirmation of the presence of alkaloids, tannins, phenolic compound, flavonoids, steroids, glycosides & carbohydrates. The result of the study can be useful in setting some diagnostic indices for the identification and the preparation of the monograph of the plant.

Abstract: Using time series data spanning over the period 1974/75 to 2004/05, this paper provides the trends of capacity utilization (CU) levels in Indian sugar industry from regional perspectives. The results reveal that: i) on an average, the sugar industry in India is operating with the excess capacity in tune to 13 percent in each sampled year; ii) substantial variations in CU levels appear in the sugar industry of 12 major sugar producing states under consideration; iii) a precipitous decline in CU levels is noted in the post-reforms years relative to what has been observed in the prereforms period; iv) except the state of Rajasthan, the sugar industry in the remaining 11 states observed a significant decline in CU levels during the postreforms period relative to the pre-reforms period; and v) availability of raw material is most significant variable explaining the CU in Indian sugar industr

Abstract: A series of N-((2-substituted phenyl) -4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-1yl)(phenyl)methyl) substituted amine derivatives TPI (I-V) were synthesized by 2-substituted 4,5-diphenyl imidazole derivatives starting from benzyl and aromatic aldehyde. All these compounds were characterized by IR, 1HNMR, mass and elemental analysis. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities by hot plate and carrageenan induced rat paw oedema methods. Compounds TPI-IV and TPI-V have showed potent anti-inflammatory activity and compounds TPI-III, TPI-IV and TPI-V showed good analgesic activity.
