Juvenile Psammomatoid Ossifying Fibroma – A Case Report

Abstract: Juvenile ossifying fibroma (JOF) is a rare fibro-osseous neoplasm in young children. JOF is defined as a variant of the ossifying fibroma, and latter includes juvenile psammomatoid ossifying fibroma (JPOF) and juvenile trabecular ossifying fibroma (JTOF). Both variants involve the craniofacial bones with the trabecular variant being more common in the jaws and the psammomatoid variant being more common in the paranasal sinuses. This lesion is locally aggressive andspreads quickly. As it has a very high recurrence rate, complete excision is essential. A case of large JPOF involving rightmaxilla and other cranial bones in a 12 year old female patient with clinical, radiographic and histopathological features arepresented. Surgical management and follow up is also emphasized.

Abstract: This paper, two Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models using radial basis function (RBF) nets are developed for the design of Aperture Coupled Microstrip Antennas (ACMSA) for different number of design parameters. The effect of increasing the number of design parameters on the ANN model is also discussed in this work. The performances of the models when compared are found that on decreasing the number of design parameters, accuracy of the model is in-creased. The results given by the prepared models are comparable with the results of the IE3D software. So, these models are accurate enough to measure the design parameters of ACMSAs. Thus the neural network approach elimi-nates the long time consuming process of finding various designing parameters using costly software packages.

Abstract: An integration technique based on use of Monte Carlo Integration is proposed for Method of Moments solution of Electric Field Integral Equation. As an example numerical analysis is carried out for the solution of the integral equation for unknown current distribution on metallic plate structures. The entire domain polynomial basis functions are employed in the MOM formulation which leads to only small number of matrix elements thus saving significant computer time and storage. It is observed that the proposed method not only provides solution of the unknown current distribution on the surface of the metallic plates but is also capable of dealing with the problem of singularity efficiently.
Chromohysteroscopy—A new technique for endometrial biopsy in Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB)  [PDF]

Objective: To evaluate the role of chromohysteroscopy in improving diagnostic accuracy of endometrial biopsy in cases of AUB. Design: Cross sectional interventional study. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 60 women with AUB in Dept. of Obst. & Gyne at King George Medical University, Lucknow over a period of one year. All cases underwent diagnostic hysteroscopy followed by chromohysteroscopy using 2% methylene blue dye. Hysteroscopic guided biopsy was taken from stained and unstained areas followed by an endometrial aspiration biopsy from whole uterine cavity. The histopathology results of three samples were compared and analyzed in relation with staining pattern and type of AUB. Data analysis was done on SPSS version 15 of windows 2007. Results: Out of 60 cases, 11cases were found to have non hormonal pathology after chromohysterosopic biopsy. Eight (72.72%) cases were diagnosed by stained endometrial tissue, one (9.09%) by unstained tissue and three (27.27%) by endometrial aspiration. The diagnostic ability of stained tissue biopsy was significantly higher (p = 0.006) than unstained biopsy and endometrial aspiration. Conclusion: Chromohysteroscopy is a simple and effective technique for diagnosing endometrial pathology in cases of AUB.

Realization of a New Current Mode Second-Order Biquad Using Two Current Follower Transconductance Amplifiers (CFTAs)  [PDF]

Abstract: A new circuit for realization of universal current-mode filter using current Follower Transconductance Amplifiers (CFTAs) is presented. The proposed circuit realizes current-mode low pass, high pass and band pass filter functions simultaneously with a single current source at the input. The band reject and all pass filters can also be obtained from the proposed circuit without any extra hardware. The proposed circuit employs three passive grounded elements and two CFTAs. Linear electronic control of natural frequency ω0 is available in the proposed circuit. The quality factor can be independently adjusted through grounded resistor. The proposed circuit employs two grounded capacitors and a grounded resistor along with two CFTAs. The grounded resistor can be replaced by an OTA based circuit for linear electronic control of quality factor Q0. The circuit exhibits low active and passive sensitivities for ω0 and Q0. Simulation results are obtained using PSPICE software which is in conformity with the theoretical findings.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new electronically controlled voltage mode sinusoidal oscillator (VMSO) using Voltage Differencing Transconductance Amplifiers (VDTA). The proposed circuit provides electronic control of ω0 and independent condition of oscillation (CO). It is found that the oscillator works very satisfactorily and pure sinusoidal waveforms are available at the outputs. The PSPICE simulation confirms the theoretical results. The proposed oscillator circuit employs only two VDTAs, along with two grounded capacitor and single grounded resistor. The circuit exhibits low active and passive sensitivities for ω0. Simulation results are obtained by using PSPICE software with TSMC CMOS 0.18 um process parameters.

Abstract: This paper is designed to introduce new hybrid Vedic algorithm to increase the speed of the multiplier. This work combines the principles of Nikhilam sutra and Karatsuba algorithm. Vedic Mathematics is the mathematical system to solve the complex computations in an easier manner. There are specific sutras to perform multiplication. Nikhilam sutra is one of the sutra. But this has some limitations. To overcome the limitations, this sutra is combined with Karatsuba algorithm. High speed devices are required for high speed applications with compact size. Normally multipliers require more power for its computation. In this paper, new multiplication algorithm for the multiplication of binary numbers is proposed based on Vedic Mathematics. The novel portion in the algorithm is found to be in the calculation of remainder using complement method. The size of the remainder is always set as N - 1 bit for any combination of input. The multiplier structure is designed based on Karatsuba algorithm. Therefore, N × N bit multiplication is done by (N - 1) bit multiplication. Numerical strength reduction is done through Karatsuba algorithm. The results show that the reduction in hardware leads to reduction in the delay.

Abstract: A descriptive study was conducted to assess the knowledge and attitude of staff nurses regarding the preventive aspects of TB in K. C General Hospital, Bangalore. The instruments used for the study were a self- administered questionnaire and a five point Likert scale. A total of 60 staff nurses were selected by using convenience sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed and interpreted in terms of the objectives and hypothesis of the study. Abstract: Background: The aim of public service departments in South Africa is to improve servicedelivery through the transformation and improvement of human resources and theimprovement of service delivery practices. Furthermore, it is important for the public servicesector in South Africa to improve the quality of its service delivery, not only by comparing itsperformance with other sectors within South Africa but also by positioning itself amongst thebest in the world. This can be achieved by benchmarking with other global industries and byimplementing the most recent competitive intelligence strategies, tools and techniques. Theenvironment of the public service organisations consists of competitive forces that impact thefunctioning of these organisations.Objectives: This article focuses on proposing competitive intelligence-related strategies, toolsand techniques for gathering and analysing information in the public service departments inSouth Africa in order to enhance service delivery.Method: The study was qualitative in nature and was divided into two components,namely, (1) theoretical – through an extensive review of the literature and (2) empirical – anethnographic study at the chosen public service department, the Department of Home Affairs(DHA). Ethnographic interviews with management-level staff, focus groups and documentanalysis were used to obtain adequate information to determine the current state of publicservice delivery in South Africa.Results: The results of the study was the development of a new competitive intelligencerelatedframework for gathering and analysing information, and it represents a formal andsystematic process of informing managers in public service departments about critical issuesthat these departments face or are likely to experience in future.Conclusion: The strategic planning tools and techniques of this framework will fill the gapthat exists in public service departments. Once this framework has been implemented, itcould assist these departments to improve service delivery to its citizens.
