Prevalencia de trastornos mentales en adolescentes con cáncer

Abstract: objectives: the adolescents with cancer are exposed to many medical, emotional and social situations, which may predispose to mental disorders. with the goal to evaluate the prevalence or not of mental disorders in the adolescents with cancer, we evaluated to know the presence or absence of this pathology. methods: we study forty adolescents with cancer who consulted the unit of pediatric oncology of ?dr. luis razetti? oncology institute was studied through structured clinical interviews. the diagnosis was made according to the manual of mental disorders and behavior in children and adolescents guidelines (cie-10). results: 65 % of adolescents have psychiatric diagnosis, 46 % of them has adaptatives disorders, in 42 % depressive episode and 12 % with anxiety generalized disorder, including mainly anxious depressive manifestations, irritability, excessive preoccupation and angry. conclusion: we can observed the importance to known the emotional and psychological manifestations present in the course of treatment also the mental disorders in these adolescents how part of his adaptation process, these show the necessity of an multidisciplinary approach, with psychosocial has a relevant role, in these form not permit that these manifestations evolutional to mental disorders with the worse consequences to the patients mayor difficult to adapt to disease and a important less quality of life of these adolescents. we are emphasis in the prevention and in the psychological support in the beginning of the disease.

Abstract: OBJETIVOS: Se planteó evaluar la prevalencia de trastornos mentales en adolescentes con cáncer, a fin de conocer la presencia o no de estos trastornos. MéTODOS: Se estudiaron 40 adolescentes con cáncer, del Instituto Oncológico “Dr. Luis Razetti”, a través de entrevistas clínicas estructuradas, realizando el diagnóstico según los criterios expuestos en el manual de los trastornos mentales y del comportamiento en ni os y adolescentes (CIE-10). RESULTADOS: Se encontró que un 65 % de los adolescentes presenta diagnóstico psiquiátrico, de ellos 46 % con trastornos adaptativos, 42 % con episodios depresivos y un 12 % con trastorno de ansiedad generalizada, incluyendo primordialmente manifestaciones ansiosas depresivas, irritabilidad, preocupación excesiva y rabia. CONCLUSIóN: Podemos observar la importancia de conocer las manifestaciones psicológicas y emocionales que se pueden presentar en el transcurso del tratamiento, así como los trastornos mentales en estos adolescentes, como parte del proceso de adaptación, lo que nos muestra la necesidad de un abordaje multidisciplinario, donde lo psicosocial juegue un papel fundamental, para de esa manera evitar que las manifestaciones o reacciones psicológicas consideradas normales para la situación, se conviertan en trastornos mentales, con las consecuencias que esto conlleva, como por ejemplo una mayor dificultad para adaptarse a la enfermedad y una importante disminución en la calidad de vida de estos adolescentes. Lo que hace énfasis en la prevención y el apoyo psicológico desde el momento del diagnóstico. Abstract: to contribute to a better understanding of the morphopathology of atrial septal defects (asd), we describe and classify topographically a series of hearts obtained from necropsies. we performed an anatomo-embryological correlation to gain insight on the pathogenesis of this type of congenital heart disease. seventy-one hearts with asd and twenty-three normal hearts with patent foramen ovale from the collection at the instituto nacional de cardiología "ignacio chávez" were studied morphologically; segmen-tal sequential analysis was used. the topography of the interatrial septum was determined on the basis of the structures related to it in order to classify the asd. the fs area was projected on the right septal surface using pins. to stablish the anatomo-embryological correlation, the asd's anatomy was compared with the embryological processes that take place in atrial septation. the most frequent asd was the 00 type (fs) with 64.78%, followed by common atrium, true fs, fp, superior and inferior sinus venosus, types each one with 2.81% and one coronary sinus venosus type (1.40%). the fs area was projected below the superior vena cava. the morphologically and topographically knowledge of atrial septal defect is useful to interpret the imaging studies of this cardiopathy and is basic for the surgeon and the interventionist cardiologist. abnormal apoptosis and retarded developmental growth are proposed as pathogenic mechanisms.
Evaluación del estado nutricional en ni?os con cáncer

Abstract: objectives: the malnutrition is the more frequent second diagnosis in patients with cancer; these due to be at the diagnosis moment of the disease it is necessary to make the nutritional evaluation, which will allow us to establish the best suitable nutritional support and the follow up of the same patients. the purpose of this study is to evaluate the nutritional state of the children whom assist to consult of pediatric oncology department ?dr. luis razetti? oncology institute. methods: realized descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study of 57 patients with oncology pathology who attended in the consultation of the service of pediatric oncology, dr. luis razetti of capital district between the months january and may of year 2006. to whom was practice integral evaluation of the growth and the nutritional state. results: there evidenced of malnourished for deficit in 23 patients (40.4 %), normal well-nourished in 28 (49.1 %) and malnourished for overweight in 6 (10.5 %). the relationship between malnutrition and oncology therapy is not statistically significant. nevertheless, 100 % of the patients with advanced cancer were some grade of undernourished found a statistically a difference. conclusion: the results allow us to make the following recommendations: 1. to standardize criteria of nutritional risk for oncology pediatric patients, adapted to the national reality. 2. nutritional evaluation to all the oncology pediatrics patients at the time of diagnosis. 3. individualized nutritional intervention. 4. nutritional and psycho-social support thought a multidisciplinary and an interdisciplinary staff.
Conexión anómala de venas pulmonares: Correlación anatomoembriológica

Abstract: an anatomical-embryological correlation of anomalous venous pulmonary connection is presented to gain an insight of its pathogenesis. the basic publications on embryonic development of the pulmonary veins were analyzed in its two stages: the primary connection of these veins (collectors) with the embryonic systemic veins from which the definitive veins arise. these channels normally disappear once the pulmonary veins sinus is connected with the roof of the left atrium (secondary definitive connection); when the latter does not exist, any of the primitive channels persist and originates the anatomic sites of the anomalous venous pulmonary connection. the embryonic systemic veins are the right cardinal (superior vena cava and azygos vein), the left cardinal (venous coronary sinus and vertical vein) and the umbilical-vitelline (portal vein and ductus venosus). other mechanisms are discussed such as ectopic origin of the primitive pulmonary vein in the roof of the right atrium and misplaced left of the atrial septum. the atrial septal defect is conditioned by the hemodynamics of this malformation. the knowledge of the pulmonary venous development is of great value in understanding the structure and the anatomic variants of this cardiovascular malformation in its total and partial forms.

Abstract: periferical neroectodermic primary tumor is a part of the sarcoma ewing family and represents 5 % of them. the superior maxillary location is not frequent, we report these clinical case of a male teenage of 15 years old sent to our hospital with loss weigh, tumor in the oral cavity in the left superior quadrant of the oral cavity, with a diameter of 6 cm, that it occupies 50 % of the same one with sobreinfection, with necrosis. the biopsy reported: tumor of undifferentiated round cells. we observed a growth of the tumor that triples its size in 8 days, it occupies it in totality, with tendency to obstruction of the air way, needed emergency traqueostomy and gastrostomy. the inmunohistoquimical studies reveal primary neuroectodermic tumor (inmunoreactive to cd99 enolasa neurospecific and cromagine), received two cycles of ciclofosfamide, vincristine, actinomicyn d, ifosfamida and etoposid, with disease progression and depletory of his physical status; receive radiation therapy 6 000 cgy with platinum, obtaining favorable condition to surgery: a bilateral maxilectomy with preservation of the floor of the orbit. the anatomopathological study report fibromixoide weave a lot of vascularization without evidence of malignity, free margins. actually, 7 months without evidence of disease waiting for platinum prosthesis to restituted the functional deglution. in the inusual localizations, the treatment has to be multidisciplinary, individualized, and include the three treatment modalities (quemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery).
Design and First Results of an UAV-Borne L-Band Radiometer for Multiple Monitoring Purposes

Abstract: UAV (unmanned Aerial Vehicle) platforms represent a challenging opportunity for the deployment of a number of remote sensors. These vehicles are a cost-effective option in front of manned aerial vehicles (planes and helicopters), are easy to deploy due to the short runways needed, and they allow users to meet the critical requirements of the spatial and temporal resolutions imposed by the instruments. L-band radiometers are an interesting option for obtaining soil moisture maps over local areas with relatively high spatial resolution for precision agriculture, coastal monitoring, estimation of the risk of fires, flood prevention, etc. This paper presents the design of a light-weight, airborne L-band radiometer for deployment in a small UAV, including the hardware and specific software developed for calibration, geo-referencing, and soil moisture retrieval. First results and soil moisture retrievals from different field experiments are presented.

Abstract: The fine-structure constant α [1] is a constant in physics that plays a fundamental role in the electromagnetic interaction. It is a dimensionless constant, defined as: \"\" (1) being q the elementary charge, ε0 the vacuum permittivity, h the Planck constant and c the speed of light in vacuum. The value shown in (1) is according CODATA 2014 [2]. In this paper, it will be explained that the fine-structure constant is one of the roots of the following equation: \"\" (2) being e the mathematical constant e (the base of the natural logarithm). One of the solutions of this equation is: \"\" (3) This means that it is equal to the CODATA value in nine decimal digits (or the seven most significant ones if you prefer). And therefore, the difference between both values is: \"\" (4) This coincidence is higher in orders of magnitude than the commonly accepted necessary to validate a theory towards experimentation. As the cosine function is periodical, the Equation (2) has infinite roots and could seem the coincidence is just by chance. But as it will be shown in the paper, the separation among the different solutions is sufficiently high to disregard this possibility. How to Check If a Number Is Prime Using a Finite Definite Integral  [PDF]

Abstract: In the history of mathematics different methods have been used to detect if a number is prime or not. In this paper a new one will be shown. It will be demonstrated that if the following equation is zero for a certain number p, this number p would be prime. And being m an integer number higher than (the lowest, the most efficient the operation). \"\" . If the result is an integer, this result will tell us how many permutations of two divisors, the input number has. As you can check, no recurrent division by odd or prime numbers is done, to check if the number is prime or has divisors. To get to this point, we will do the following. First, we will create a domain with all the composite numbers. This is easy, as you can just multiply one by one all the integers (greater or equal than 2) in that domain. So, you will get all the composite numbers (not getting any prime) in that domain. Then, we will use the Fourier transform to change from this original domain (called discrete time domain in this regards) to the frequency domain. There, we can check, using Parseval’s theorem, if a certain number is there or not. The use of Parseval’s theorem leads to the above integral. If the number p that we want to check is not in the domain, the result of the integral is zero and the number is a prime. If instead, the result is an integer, this integer will tell us how many permutations of two divisors the number p has. And, in consequence information how many factors, the number p has. So, for any number p lower than 2m?- 1, you can check if it is prime or not, just making the numerical definite integration. We will apply this integral in a computer program to check the efficiency of the operation. We will check, if no further developments are done, the numerical integration is inefficient computing-wise compared with brute-force checking. To be added, is the question regarding the level of accuracy needed (number of decimals and number of steps in the numerical integration) to have a reliable result for large numbers. This will be commented on the paper, but a separate study will be needed to have detailed conclusions. Of course,
