Optimal Flows On Road Networks In Emergency Cases  [PDF]
Nicola Pasquino, Luigi Rarità
Open Journal of Applied Sciences (OJAppS) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojapps.2012.24B014
Abstract: In this paper, we present a technique to redistribute car flows, described by a fluid dynamic model, on a portion of the Caltanissetta city, in Italy, when critical situations, such as car accidents, occur. Using a decentralized approach, a cost functional, that describes the asymptotic average velocity of emergency vehicles, is maximized with respect to distribution coefficients at simple junctions with two incoming roads and two outgoing ones. Then, in order to manage critical situations in high traffic conditions, local optimal coefficients at each node of the network are used. The overall traffic evolution is studied via simulations, that confirm the goodness of the optimization results. It is also proved that optimal coefficients allow a fast transit of emergency vehicles on assigned routes on the network.
Números y política: Contar en la Ciencia Política lo que cuenta
Pasquino, Gianfranco;
Andamios , 2009,

Ferejohn, John;Pasquino, Pasquale;
Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69092001000100001
Abstract: the article claims that there is already a close connection between normative and positive projects in political theory. the argument is that, traditionally, normative political theorists have embraced rationality assumptions, both because they were interested in persuading an audience, presumably capable of responding to reasons, and because a normative theory deals with rational subjects, whose actions can be understood and perhaps changed by altering their institutional context. by examining the work of aristotle, hobbes and rousseau the article attempts to do two things: first, to elucidate their conceptions of rationality and show the work rationality does within their theories. second, the article examines how those conceptions (or interpretations) of rationality depart from current understandings and argues in favor of recovering some lost aspects of rationality as an analytical concept.
A teoria da escolha racional na ciência política: conceitos de racionalidade em teoria política
Ferejohn John,Pasquino Pasquale
History as Contemporary History in the Thinking of Benedetto Croce  [PDF]
Nicola Conati
Open Journal of Philosophy (OJPP) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojpp.2015.51007
Abstract: In this brief consideration of mine, trying to remain as faithful as possible to the texts taken into exam, I will first try to introduce the concept of history as contemporary history in the thinking of Benedetto Croce, whereas the second part of the reasoning will point toward proving and meditating on how such concept crosses the whole philosophical system of the Italian intellectual. What does contemporary history mean according to Benedetto Croce? Why is the spirit of the historian fundamental in the description of this concept? What kind of connection exists between story and contemporary history? What does pathology of history mean? How does the concept of contemporary history relate to that of awareness, of finished and thinking? These are but a few of the questions to which I tried to find an answer with this essay.
The Psychological Trauma in Children and Adolescents: Scientific and Sociological Profiles  [PDF]
Nicola Malizia
Sociology Mind (SM) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/sm.2017.71002
Abstract: Despite the research on trauma, which until recent times has been directed towards the category of adults, today scholars need to turn their attention to children and adolescents who may undergo traumatic experiences at different stages of their growth. There is a prevailing hypothesis that the narrow and partial cognitive processes of memory, attention and dysfunctional problem solving skills constitute the main problem of exposure to trauma, which also compromises the family equilibrium, taking into account that traumatic events are arbitrary and unpredictable. It is possible that dissociation phenomena and derealization emerge in response to a traumatic event. The specificity and complexity of the treatment of disorders resulting from traumatic development have prompted specialists of different orientations to formulate guidelines and treatment protocols to guide clinical work.
A Social Problem: Individual and Group Rape  [PDF]
Nicola Malizia
Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2017.73006
Abstract: The terms that describe a non-consensual sexual behavior such as rape, sexual abuse or sexual violence are very different, as are the negative effects on a victim of a physical and psychic nature, taking into account the different approaches of the attacker. The consent of the victim is absent or obtained by the attacker with physical and/or psychological violence; but it is also possible that the victim is unconscious or incapable of understanding. Those guilty of sexual offenses fall into a special category that is called “sex offenders” within which there is a diversification of ways concerning the manner, degree and motivations. Research has shown that attackers acting in a group and those who are an individual attacker differ in their attitude towards the victim.
Serial Killer: The Mechanism from Imagination to the Murder Phases  [PDF]
Nicola Malizia
Sociology Mind (SM) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/sm.2017.72004
Abstract: Over the years, scholars have studied the phenomenon of serial murder and tried to explain the causes that originate it. Despite the studies about the types of serial killers, the dynamics, the contexts, and the complex psychological mechanisms which lead a serial killer to murder, organic factors or social nature were identified, but none of these answered the question why some individuals become serial killers, in spite of the types have been studied, the dynamics, the contexts, the complex psychological mechanisms give rise to the death of activities by these individuals. This is the focal point and the problem we want to solve. This paper will try to outline two basic phases which represent the alpha and omega of the world of serial killers from fantasy to enacting the murder.
Boredom and Social Deviant Behavior: An Empirical Study  [PDF]
Nicola Malizia
Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2018.82010
Abstract: The purpose of this paper was the analysis of the relationship between boredom and deviance behavior; this is a field not completely explored by the sociology of deviance, despite the increase in alarm due to the increase in: deviant behavior by young people and crimes committed by groups. After a brief presentation of the most important contribution in literature, to deepen this issue, we use data collected from a survey using as principal instrument, the Boredom Proneness Scale, BPS, (Farmer & Sundberg, 1986) to identify the possible forms of prevention to be adopted in family, social and institutional context, in order to not compromise, immediately or in the long term, social, physical and psychological young person well-being. To test the evidence, it was decided to implement a model, in order to describe and analyze empirical phenomena, introducing a statistical relationship, since it is not possible to know an exact relationship between variables. The model results allow to observe a direct relationship between the BPS and variables analyzed.
