Postischemic Lower Extremity Wounds Treated with and without Negative Pressure Dressing  [PDF]

Abstract: Background: Vacuum-assisted dressing is a noninvasive closure system of the wound, which makes localized and controlled negative pressure. Its mechanical tension reduces edema, stimulates granulation tissue formation and angiogenesis, and prepares the wound bed for closure. In this study, a patient has been presented, who suffered from serious lower extremity wounds due to arterial emboli, one of her wounds has been treated with vacuum-assisted dressing and the other with conventional dressing to evaluate the efficacy of vacuum-assisted dressing in acute ischemic wounds. Methods: A 65-year-old female patient was admitted to the emergency clinic, due to complaint of severe pain in her right lower extremity which suggested an acute arterial occlusion. She immediately underwent an embolectomy operation; however, a few days later, severe ischemia on the leg and foot became appearant. All of the necrosis was sharply debrided under sterile conditions in the operating room, and then lower leg wound was covered with vacuum-assisted dressing, also calcaneal wound was dressed with silver sulphadiazine. Results: Eighteen days after the first dressing with negative pressure, distal leg wound became ready for closure, whereas, enough granulation tissue over the calcaneal area developed merely thirty-four days later. Calcaneal wound closed spontaneously within fifty-three days. Conclusions: When dealing with this experience, using the negative pressure dressing in patient with severe lower limb wounds following arterial emboli, accelerates wound healing by means of developing the granulation tissue, and rapidly prepares the wound for closure, so it may reduce the risk of amputation.
WR 138: new results from X-ray and optical spectroscopy

Abstract: Context. Massive-binary evolution models predict that some systems will go through an evolutionary phase where the original primary has become a supernova and left a compact object behind that then orbits a Wolf-Rayet (hereafter, WR) star. WR 138 is an X-ray bright WR star that has been described as a triple system, including a compact companion in a short-period orbit. Aims. Our goal is to search for spectroscopic evidence of a compact companion around WR 138. Methods. We used optical and X-ray spectra to search for signatures of a compact companion, which can be revealed by systematic variations in WR optical spectral lines induced by orbital motion of the compact companion or by hard, luminous X-rays from accretion onto this companion. Results. The optical spectra display emission-line profile variations that are most probably caused by clumps inside the stellar winds. The radial velocities do not vary on a short time-scale compatible with the suggested orbital period of a putative compact companion. The X-ray spectra are found to be normal for a WN5-6+OB system with no indication of accretion by a compact companion. Conclusions. There is no evidence for the presence of a compact companion, and we therefore conclude that WR 138 is a normal long-period (P~1521 d) eccentric WR+OB system.
Prediction of a model enzymatic acidolysis system using neural networks

Abstract: A model for the acidolysis of trinolein and palmitic acid under the catalysis of immobilized sn-1,3 specific lipase was presented in this study. A neural networks (NN) based model was developed for the prediction of the concentrations of the major reaction products of this reaction (1-palmitoyl-2,3-oleoyl-glycerol (POO) 1,3-dipalmitoyl-2-oleoyl-glycerol (POP) and triolein (OOO)). Substrate ratio (SR), reaction temperature (T) and reaction time (t) were used as input parameters. The optimal architecture of the proposed NN model, which consists of one input layer with three inputs, one hidden layer with seven neurons and one output layer with three outputs, wass able to predict the reaction products concentration with a mean square error (MSE) of less than 1.5 and R2 of 0.999. and explicit formulation of the proposed NN is presented. Considerable good performance is achieved in modeling the acidolysis reaction using neuronal networks. En este estudio se presenta un modelo para la acidólisis de la trilinoleina y el ácido palmítico mediante la catálisis con una lipasa específica sn-1,3 inmovilizada. Un modelo basado en redes neuronales (NN) ha sido desarrollado para la predicción de la concentración de los principales productos de esta reacción (1-palmitoil-2,3-oleoil-glicerol (POO), 1,3-dipalmitoil-2-oleoil-glicerol (POP) y trioleina (OOO)). Se han usado como parámetros de entrada: la proporción del sustrato (SR), la temperatura de reacción (T) y el tiempo de reacción (t). La arquitectura óptima del modelo de NN propuesto, que consiste en una capa de entrada con tres entradas, una capa oculta con siete neuronas y una capa de salida con tres salidas, fue capaz de predecir la concentración de los productos de reacción con un error cuadrático medio (MSE) de menos de 1.5 y una R2 de 0.999 . Se presenta una formulación explícita del modelo NN propuesto. Se obtienen muy buenos resultados en la predicción de la reacciones de acidólisis mediante el uso de las redes neuronales.

Tensorial form and matrix elements of the relativistic nuclear recoil operator

Abstract: Within the lowest-order relativistic approximation ($\sim v^2/c^2$) and to first order in $m_e/M$, the tensorial form of the relativistic corrections of the nuclear recoil Hamiltonian is derived, opening interesting perspectives for calculating isotope shifts in the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock framework. Their calculation is illustrated for selected Li-, B- and C-like ions. The present work underlines the fact that the relativistic corrections to the nuclear recoil are definitively necessary for getting reliable isotope shift values.

Abstract: Energy levels, normal and specific mass shift parameters as well as electronic densities at the nucleus are reported for numerous states along the beryllium, boron, carbon, and nitrogen isoelectronic sequences. Combined with nuclear data, these electronic parameters can be used to determine values of level and transition isotope shifts. The calculation of the electronic parameters is done using first-order perturbation theory with relativistic configuration interaction wave functions that account for valence, core-valence and core-core correlation effects as zero-order functions. Results are compared with experimental and other theoretical values, when available.

Abstract: Energy levels, hyperfine interaction constants, and Land\'e $g_J$-factors are reported for n=2 states in beryllium-, boron-, carbon-, and nitrogen-like ions from relativistic configuration interaction calculations. Valence, core-valence, and core-core correlation effects are taken into account through single and double-excitations from multireference expansions to increasing sets of active orbitals. A systematic comparison of the calculated hyperfine interaction constants is made with values from the available literature.
Deep Level Transient Spectroscopy of AlGaInP LEDs  [PDF]

Abstract: Deep level transient spectroscopy (temperature scans) of AlGaInP based red light emitting diodes was carried out from 77 K to room temperature. At least ten defects were observed. Of these, five defects assigned to energy states 0.21, 0.22, 0.24, 0.26, and 0.24 eV were characterized. Respective capture cross-sections, measured at infinite temperature (T = ), QUOTE were found to be 8.84 × 10-16, 6.98 × 10-16, 7.86 × 10-16, 9.9 × 10-16 and 2.1 × 10-16 cm2. Corresponding concentrations of defects were 3.7 × 1013, 3.5 × 1013, 3.2 × 1013, 3.3 × 1013 and 3.1 × 1013 cm-3.

Abstract: In this article, an up-to-date implementation in the narrator-reader relationship is to be mentioned. The author takes the reader into consideration when they settle the content. While writing further, they involve aspects which make the reader shocked, surprised and smiled. At these points, attention is drawn. Irony is a mostly used technique in narration. In narrations, irony draws attention of the reader. The content gets to be into the readers and becomes more effective. In the work of Tarik Bugra it is seen that the images are settled and richened as a hidden content in the minds of the reader. Sampling one of the Works of Bugra, the use and contribution of the technique are to be presented.

Abstract: The fiction has a structure which is designed by the author. Rhythm is among the opponents of this structure. In this study, how rhythm is placed in the literature work, what kind of varieties it adds to the author’s style will be emphasized. For the author, the important thing is to get their works read. Rhythm not only arouses aesthetic sense, but also fascinates the reader. With the help of the associations created by the rhythm, participation in the text is gained. Adalet A ao lu tries to give an aesthetic sense to her readers. In order to succeed in doing so, she gives importance to story’s being in an order and harmony of the refrains.
