Reliability Analysis of OMEGA Network and Its Variants

Abstract: The performance of a computer system depends directly on the time required to perform a basic operation and the number of these basic operations that can be performed concurrently. High performance computing systems can be designed using parallel processing. Parallel processing is achieved by using more than one processors or computers together they communicate with each other to solve a givenproblem. MINs provide better way for the communication between different processors or memory modules with less complexity, fast communication, good fault tolerance, high reliability and low cost. Reliability of a system is the probability that it will successfully perform its intended operations for a given time under stated operating conditions. From the reliability analysis it has beenobserved that addition of one stage to Omega networks provide higher reliability in terms of terminal reliability than the addition of two stages in the corresponding network.

Abstract: Security is an essential requirement in mobile ad hoc networks to provide protectedcommunication between mobile nodes. MANETs are vulnerable to various attacks; black hole is one of thepossible attacks. Black hole is a type of routing attack where a malicious node advertise itself as having theshortest path to all nodes in the environment by sending fake route reply.We attempt to focus on analysing and improving the security of one of the popular routing protocol forMANETS viz. the Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol. Our focus specifically, ison ensuring the security against the Black hole Attacks. We propose modifications to the AODV protocol andjustify the solution with appropriate implementation.
A Genetic Algorithm Approach for the Solution of Economic Load Dispatch Problem

Abstract: This paper presents the application of Genetic algorithm (GA) to solve the economic load dispatch problem of the power system. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been demonstrated on twodifferent test systems considering the transmission losses. Test system-1 includes a three generator system and test system-2 includes an IEEE 30-bus system. The results of test system-1 are compared with a conventional method and found better. Short term thermal generation scheduling is done for IEEE 30-bus system.

Abstract: We describe a computational method for simulating the time dependent quantum mechanical system inter-acting with external field. In this method the Schrödinger equation is solved by expanding the wave function in the basis set of unperturbed Hamiltonian. The expansion yields a set of coupled first order differential equation. For expansion coefficients, the coupled channel method is applied to a particle in a box interacting with external field in the form of chirped laser pulse. The pulse shape is taken as Gaussian. We study the ef-fect of different pulse parameters i.e. chirp rate, intensity, center frequency, box length and laser duration on the dynamics of the particle. Many interesting results are obtained and explained.

Abstract: Background: The Vagina is a composite structure formed partly from the mullerian duct and partly from urogential sinus. Most of the patients with mullerian agenesis have small rudimentary uterus without any endometrial cavity, 7% - 8% may have functioning uterus. Case: A 15 years old girl admitted with primary amenorrhea, cyclical abdominal pain, hematometra and complete vaginal agenesis. Surgical correction is the mainstay of treatment in patients with functioning uterus and absent vagina. Vaginoplasty was done to reconstruct a neovagina using amnion graft and establish uterovaginal continuity. In this case we have used only perineal approach to dissect the neovagina and identify the cervix with formation of a patent drainage tract and adequate vaginal length of 9 cm. Conclusion: In rare cases of obstructed functioning uterus by complete vaginal agenesis, vaginoplasty effectively restores anatomy and function by an overall minimal operative morbidity. Human amnion provides excellent results in neovaginal reconstruction.
Comparison of the Efficacy of Foley Catheter Balloon with Dinoprostone Gel for Cervical Ripening at Term  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of extra-amniotic Foley catheter with intra cervical Dinoprostone gel for preinduction cervical ripening. Study Design: A randomized, prospective study was conducted in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, PGIMS Rohtak on 100 pregnant women admitted for induction of labor. Fifty patients were randomized to receive Dinoprostone gel and 50 patients to receive intracervical, extra-amniotic Foley catheter. Results: The two groups were comparable with respect to maternal age, parity, gestational age, indication for induction, and initial Bishop scores. Both groups had a significant change in Bishop score (4.18 ± 1.81 and 4.6 ± 1.48 respectively, p < 0.001); however, there was no significant difference between the groups. Mean duration of induction to delivery was 18.51 ± 8.52 in Foley catheter group and 18.21 ± 11.13 in prostaglandin group, the difference being statistically insignificant. Among 50 cases of prostaglandin only single dose was sufficient for 23 (46%) cases to induce labor. But in 27 (54%) cases 2nd dose of prostaglandin were required. The expenditure of intervention showed that Rs. 325 were required for induction by prostaglandin as compared to Rs. 60/- for Induction by Foley’s catheter and the difference was highly significant statistically There was no difference between the groups in mode of delivery, infant weight, apgar score and intrapartum complications. Conclusion: In conclusion, although both Foley catheter and dinoprostone gel appear to be effective agents for cervical ripening. Foley catheter causes less fetal distress, cheap and safety profile of Foley catheter is such that it can be used on an out patient basis, but not dinoprostone gel. These results make Foley catheter comparable or even superior to dinoprostone gel for cervical ripening specially in developing countries.
An O(k2+kh2+h2) Accurate Two-level Implicit Cubic Spline Method for One Space Dimensional Quasi-linear Parabolic Equations  [PDF]

Abstract: In this piece of work, using three spatial grid points, we discuss a new two-level implicit cubic spline method of O(k2 + kh2 + h4) for the solution of quasi-linear parabolic equation , 0< x <1, t > 0 subject to appropriate initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions, where h > 0, k > 0 are grid sizes in space and time-directions, respectively. The cubic spline approximation produces at each time level a spline function which may be used to obtain the solution at any point in the range of the space variable. The proposed cubic spline method is applicable to parabolic equations having singularity. The stability analysis for diffusion- convection equation shows the unconditionally stable character of the cubic spline method. The numerical tests are performed and comparative results are provided to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed method.
Theoretical Estimation of Stability of Dielectric Elastomers  [PDF]

Abstract: When dielectric elastomers sandwiched between compliant electrodes and high electric voltage is applied to the dielectric elastomers. Then due to the electrostatic force between the electrodes the elastomers expands in plane and contract out of plane so that it becomes thinner. As the thickness decreases we observe the increase in the applied electric voltage with the positive feedback effect. This positive feedback leads the electrical as well as mechanical breakdown of elastomer. By applying a mechanical pre-stretch the mechanical stability of dielectric elastomers gets also increased. In this paper, a new generalized set of strain/stretch variables qrN has been introduced to get the expression for second order elastic moduli for the ideal electro elastic material deformed to orthorhombic structure. The strength of a loaded crystal determined from the new moduli has been compared with the strength of classical (Green, Stretch) moduli. It has been observed that the use of incorrect formula by ignoring shear strain leads to incorrect estimation of stability. This problem has been resolved by considering stretch variable in tensor form as generally observed in the process of electrostriction in the elastomers.

Abstract: the synthesis of a natural cyclic peptide cherimolacyclopeptide e (12) by coupling oftripeptide units boc-gly-leu-gly-och3 (9) and boc-?he-tyr-pro-och3 (10) after proper deprotection at carboxyl and amino terminals followed by cyclization of linear hexapeptide segment, is described. structure elucidation of the cyclopeptide 12 is based on detailed spectral analysis such as ftir, 1h nmr, 13c nmr, fab ms and elemental analysis. after biological screening, the newly synthesized peptide exhibited high cytotoxicity against dalton 's lymphoma ascites (dla) and ehrlich 's ascites carcinoma (eac) cell lines with ctc50 values of 2.16 and 4.96 um, and potent antimicrobial activity against pathogenic microbes p. aeruginosa, e.coli and c. albicans with mics between 12.5-6 μg/ml. furthermore, compound 12 possessed moderate anthelmintic activity against earthworms m. konkanensis, p. corethruses and eudrilus sp. at 2 mg/ml dose level
