Correcciones interactivas
Structural Changes in Human Teeth after Heating up to 1200°C in Argon Atmosphere  [PDF]

Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2018.97046
Abstract: The phase transformation of hydroxyapatite (HAP, Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2) to the beta tricalcium phosphate phase (β-TCP, β-Ca3(PO4)2) at 1100°C is well known. However, in the case of human tooth, the HAP phase transformation is still an open area. For example, the CaO phase has sometimes been reported in the set of phases that make up the teeth. In this study, physical changes of human teeth when subjected to heat treatment in inert atmosphere (argon) were studied. The results were compared with those obtained in air atmosphere, from room temperature (25°C) up to 1200°C. Morphological changes were analyzed by light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The HAP to β-TCP phase transformation was followed in powder samples by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Heating of teeth results in the removal of organic material and structural water before the HAP to β-TCP phase transformation, the increment in hardness and the induced crystal growth. The percentage of the phases, crystal growth and lattice parameter variations as a function of temperature was quantified by Rietveld analysis. The black color was observed in dentin heated under argon atmosphere. Differences in expansivity produce fractures in dentin at 300°C in argon and at 400°C in air. In dentin, the coexistence of the HAP and β-TCP phases was observed after 800°C in argon and after 600°C in air; in enamel it was observed at 600°C in argon compared with 400°C in air. In general, the role played by the argon atmosphere during the thermal treatment of the teeth is to retard the processes observed in air.
García González, Nancy;
La ventana. Revista de estudios de género , 2010,
Abstract: in recent times, poverty analyses policies against poverty that have incorporated women as a relevant factor. nevertheless, some criticisms have been raised against them: first, most of the times they have relied on an instrumental perspective which does not guarantee better conditions of gender equity; second, poverty analyses have generally become reactive tools that seek to compensate a current situation, not to prevent it from occurring in the future. this paper therefore proposes to go beyond poverty analyses to identify distinctive features of households derived from social constructions that have an effect on vulnerability, particularly in households headed by women. we point out the importance of an analysis from a gender perspective in order to identify the features which make households more vulnerable to suffer or worsen their conditions of poverty.

Abstract: at the present time physical activity (pa) is recognized as a strategy for life quality improvement, given that sedentarism represents a public health problem worldwide and that it increase disabilities. this project works on theoretical references related with physical activity disabilities and social imaginaries and its objective is to advance in the comprehension of the imaginaries people with disabilities has in regard to pa, as a fundamental element for designing politics and programs for its encouragement and effective articulation in daily life. it begins with a phenomenological and methodological design that enhances analytical theoretical categories of contrast whit the obtained from the object group. data recollection follows on, up to obtain saturation, through the technique of semistructured individual interview to people whit disabilities that make part of different groups in bogota, the results of the first phase allows us to identify as principal categories the following: the way how pa is understood (formal and non formal activity associated with body anatomical vision), finality (rehabilitation, welfare, socialization) and limitations for its practice (accessibility, lack of state support and social exclusion). it is concluded that this categories identified within the theoretical frame coincide with the derived from the obtained data.
Argüello Ospina,Arturo; Sandoval García,Carolina;
Revista Ciencias de la Salud , 2006,
Abstract: almost one hundred years ago the carnegie foundation for the advancement of teaching authorized a study and report about the medical education of the united states and canada directed by mr. abraham flexner an education expert of the time. this report turned out to be one of the most important documents of the medical education revolution that took place by that time in north america and that led it to become what it is today. almost a century after that, colombian medical education has reached an outstanding similarity to the system described in the flexner report. the present article highlights the parallel between north america's medical education situation a hundred years ago and colombia's actual medical education situation. we present here some notions about the actual education system based on what was described on 1910 and which we consider, constitutes the current medical education situation on our country and possibly on many latin american countries.
