Nusantara Bioscience 4: 16-21. Carica pubescens Lenne & K. Koch is a species of fruit plant firstly cultivated in South America and has adapted to the highland environment, such as Dieng Plateau, Central Java ( 2000 m asl). It has a narrow habitat range and limited or unknown intraspecies variation. Therefore, important information about the characters of the plants at various altitudes is needed, so that it is possible to extend its distribution through transplantation to other areas. Characterization can be performed based on morphological characters, chemical content, and protein banding patterns. This study aimed to describe the morphological characters, the chemical content (antioxidant capacity), and the pattern of protein bands by staining, using coomassie brilliant blue on C. pubescens in the Dieng Plateau. The research was conducted in the villages of Kejajar (1400 m asl), Patak Banteng (1900 m asl), and Sembungan (2400 m asl). The observations of morphological characters were conducted in the field and continued in the laboratory. Morphological characters, the chemical content (antioxidant capacity), and the banding pattern of protein of C. pubescens were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the morphological characters of C. pubescens in Dieng Plateau varried in stems, leaves and fruits. The antioxidant capacity decreased with decreasing habitat altitude, 2400 m asl altitude> 1900 m altitude> 1400 m asl. The Protein banding patterns did not vary, but the pattern in C. Papaya was different. The uniformity of the pattern of protein bands showed that genetic stability in C.pubescens was not affected by environmental factors.

Bioteknologi 9: 7-13. Carica pubescens Lenne & K. Koch merupakan jenis tanaman buah yang pertamakali dibudidayakan di Amerika Selatan dan beradaptasi pada lingkungan dataran tinggi, misalnya Dataran Tinggi Dieng, Jawa Tengah (~2000 m dpl). C. pubescens memiliki daerah persebaran sempit dan variasi intraspesies terbatas atau belum diketahui. Oleh karenanya, diperlukan informasi mengenai karakter tanaman pada berbagai ketinggian sehingga dimungkinkan untuk memperluas daerah penyebaran melalui transplantasi di daerah lain. Karakterisasi dapat dilakukan berdasarkan karakter morfologi, kandungan kimia, dan pola pita protein. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakter morfologi, kandungan kimia (kapasitas antioksidan), dan pola pita protein dengan pewarnaan commasie brillian blue pada C. pubescens di Dataran Tinggi Dieng. Penelitian lapangan dilakukan di Desa Kejajar (1400 m dpl), Patak Banteng (1900 m dpl), dan Sembungan (2400 m dpl). Pengamatan karakter morfologi dilakukan di lapangan dan dilanjutkan di laboratorium. Karakter morfologi, kandungan kimia (kapasitas antioksidan), dan pola pita protein C. pubescens dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakter morfologi C. pubescens di Dataran Tinggi Dieng bervariasi pada batang, daun, dan buah. Kapasitas antioksidannya bervariasi dengan urutan dari ketinggian 2400 m dpl > 1900 m dpl > 1400 m dpl. Pola pita proteinnya tidak bervariasi antar ketinggian, namun berbeda dengan C. papaya. Keseragaman pola pita protein menunjukkan kestabilan genetik C. pubescens tidak dipengaruhi oleh perubahan lingkungan.

Abstract: Improving validation and verification (vv) has been one of the most important tasks of the century. However, we have few measures or management interventions to make such improvement possible, and it is difficult to identify patterns that should be followed by developers because systems and processes in an organization are often regarded as a death blow to creativity. To improve vv, it first must be measured, and then its future should be defined. In this paper, we seek to present a hybrid method for Model Validation and Verification of Data Mining from the Knowledge Workers Productivity Approach. It is hoped that this paper will help managers to implement different corresponding measures. A case study is presented where this model measure and validates at the Alupan company. @JASEM
Association Between Finger Patterns of Digit II and Intelligence Quotient Level in Adolescents

Abstract: Objective: This study aimed at assessing the putative association between the fingertip patterns of right and left digits II and intellectual functioning. Methods:The study involves the evaluation of dermatoglyphic patterns on right and left digits II in 342 adolescents (144 talented ones, 102 normal individuals and 96 subjects with learning disabilities) from the Shahrekord city in Iran. Comparisons between the frequencies of fingerprint patterns of each digit were made on the basis of two groups at a time employing Chi-square test. Findings:The most frequent dermatoglyphic pattern was whorl on both fingers in the 3 groups. An observation of right digit II revealed that the normal adolescents in comparison to the talented ones had a greater number of the whorl patterns (P=0.02), while the latter had more ulnar loops than the former (P=0.09). Group comprising those with learning disabilities had more ulnar loops than the group composed of the normal adolescents (P=0.09), and there was a predominance of radial loops among the talented subjects as opposed to those among the individuals with learning disabilities (P=0.002). There was no significant association in the relative frequencies of different finger patterns on left digit II between the groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:Our results support an association between some dermatoglyphic patterns observed on right digit II with IQ level in adolescents. Further researches, needless to say, especially employing various quantitative dermatoglyphic indices and larger-sized samples are recommended.
Assessment of CropWat Model Accuracy for Estimating Potential Evapotranspiration in Arid and Semi-arid Region of Iran

Abstract: The aim of this research was estimating the accuracy of CropWat software to calculating potential evapotranspiration (ET0) in arid and semi-arid region of Iran. For this purpose, 9 locations of arid and semi-arid regions of Iran selected and the grass lysimeter data collected too. The lysimeter data are collected duration of May through November during 1988-1997. For the comparisons of the ET0 lysimeter data and ET0 resulted CropWat software in different point, three statistical parameters were used include Mean Absolute Relative Error (MARE), Root Mean Square Difference (RMSD) and correlation coefficient (R2). The results of this research show that the average of MARE, RMSD and R2 computed about 31%, 2.3 and 0.7, respectively in the study areas. In addition, the results of this research show that when the average of wind speed was less than 1 m sec-1 or wind speed was more than 1 m sec-1 with low ET0 lysimeter (ET0 less than 6 mm per day), CropWat has a low sensitive for estimating ET0 and it's necessary to improve the results for these areas. In concluded, the results of this research were showed that in these area because of intensive temperature and solar radiation, CropWat can not be estimated ET0 exactly.
Effects of Using Subsurface Drip Irrigation and Treated Municipal Waste Water in Irrigation of Tomato

Abstract: Whenever good quality water is scarce, water of marginal quality will have to be considered for using in agriculture. Municipal waste water is marginal quality water and using of this for irrigation can be an important consideration when its disposal is being planned in arid and semi-arid regions. In this study, secondary municipal effluent was used for irrigation of tomato. This effluent is using activated sludge process to treat the municipal wastewater. Five different irrigation treatments were designed with three replications. The treatments were as follows: T1: Furrow irrigation with drinking water network. T2: Surface drip irrigation (DI) with treated wastewater. T3: Sub surface drip irrigation (SDI) in 15 cm depth with treated wastewater. T4: Sub surface drip irrigation (SDI) in 30 cm depth with treated wastewater. T5: Furrow irrigation with treated wastewater. Crop water requirement was determined by ET-HS model. Also, in this study, chemical and microbiological characteristics of soil, water and crops have been analyzed. The results of this study indicated that application of DI and SDI could be control environmental contamination and in comparison surface irrigation, decreases the pollution problems in the soil. Also, the highest yield was obtained from T2 and T3, which was about 52 tons ha-1 (18 tons ha-1 higher than the average yield of the T1). A part of this increased yield can be related to better soil moisture and increased available nitrogen in the root zone. Additionally, with regard to health problem, minimum contact was generated between the effluent and the workers or the aerial plant parts. But the microbiological tests indicated that among of effluent treatments, T3 had better microbiological quality of tomato.
Prevalence of Pancreatic insufficiency & FTT in Cystic Fibrosis

Abstract: Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease that affects multiple organ systems. It is the most common cause of severe progressive lung disease and exocrine panceratic insufficiency. In our investigation 67 patients had CF. Of these, 79% had panceratic insufficiency and 92% had lung disease under 2 years age. Also 67% of patients were < 2 percentile and 28% between 3-10 percentile weight for age. Unfortunately 27% of them died because of respiratory problems
