AQM Algorithm with Adaptive Reference Queue Threshold for Communication Networks

Abstract: Nowadays, congestion in communication networks has been more intractable than ever before due to the explosive growth of network scale and multimedia traffic. Active queue management (AQM) algorithms had been proposed to alleviate congestion to improve quality of service (QoS), but existing algorithms often suffer from some flaws in one aspect or another. In this paper, a novel AQM algorithm with adaptive reference queue threshold (ARTAQM) is proposed of which the main innovative contributions are recounted as follows. First, traffic is predicted to calculate the packet loss ratio (PLR) and the traffic rate based on traffic prediction algorithm. Second, by means of periodical measurements, a weighted PLR is obtained to dynamically adjust packet dropping probability in ARTAQM algorithm. Third, ARTAQM algorithm runs in both coarse and fine granularities. In coarse granularity, the mismatch of the predicted traffic rate and link capacity can adjusts the reference queue length in every period, while in fine granularity, reference queue remains fixed and the instantaneous queue is adjusted packet by packet in one period. Simulation results indicate that ARTAQM algorithm not only maintains stable queue and fast response speed, but has lower PLR and higher link utilization as well.
A Distributed Routing Algorithm with Traffic Prediction in LEO Satellite Networks

Abstract: These recent years, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite networks, which have global coverage and short round-trip delays, have been playing an increasingly important role. As fast speed, frequent handover and time-varying topology, to develop specialized and efficient routing algorithm is a huge challenge in LEO satellite networks. A Distributed Routing Algorithm with Traffic Prediction (TPDRA) is proposed in this study. TPDRA solves the linearly inseparable problem of satellite traffic prediction in higher dimensionality space and finds the optimal path for data packets through mobile agents. TPDRA consists of two parts, traffic prediction and routing decision. In traffic prediction module, the upcoming traffic from terrestrial is forecasted using Radial Basis Function neural network. In routing decision module, mobile agents traverse the whole satellite networks and collect the routing information. The final routing decision factor is not only depending on the current state of satellite networks, but also related to the future state of satellite nodes. Simulation shows that, compared with ACO, TPDRA has better transmission delay as well as intensive performance for congestion.
Rapid solidification of acoustically levitated Al-Cu-Si eutectic alloy under laser irradiation

Abstract: Al-27%Cu-5.3%Si ternary eutectic alloy was melted using a YAG laser and then solidified while being acoustically levitated. A maximum undercooling to 195 K (0.24 T L) was achieved with a cooling rate of 76 K/s. The solidification microstructure was composed of (Al+θ+Si) ternary eutectics and (Al+θ) pseudobinary eutectics. During acoustic levitation, the (Al+θ+Si) ternary eutectics are refined and the (Al+θ) pseudobinary eutectics have morphological diversity. On the surface of the alloys, surface oscillations and acoustic streaming promote the nucleation of the three eutectic phases and expedite the cooling process. This results in the refinement of the ternary eutectic microstructure. During experiments, the reflector decreases with increasing alloy temperature, and the levitation distance always exceeds the resonant distance. Because of the acoustic radiation pressure, the melted alloy was flattened, and deformation increases with increasing sound pressure. The maximum aspect ratio achieved was 6.64, corresponding to a sound pressure of 1.8×104 Pa.

Abstract: CCTV Financial 50 Index1, the first stock index released by China’s state media, was launched on June 6, 2012. As one of the elements looked at by the index to selected 50 best performance listed companies, social responsibility becomes a hot spot of social attention. This paper investigates the market effect of listed companies in A-share market which disclosed social responsibility report in 2010. Results of the study show that the information in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report has no significant market effect as the disclosure of CSR Report. However, when the White Book of Chinese CSR Report is released, the information in CSR Report generates significant market effect. Moreover, the higher the quality of CSR Report disclosed, the more significant the market effect. In conclusion, the White Book of Chinese CSR Report has a reinforcing action on the information in CSR Report.
The Impact of Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors on Controlling Shareholder’s Tunneling: Evidence of Listed Companies in China  [PDF]

Abstract: Based on the data of the listed companies of Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange from 2012 to 2015, we studied the impact of qualified foreign institutional investors (QFII) on the tunneling of listed companies’ major shareholders. The results show that QFII can effectively control the behavior of tunneling of the substantial shareholder of listed companies, and the inhibitory effects are different in the different ownership companies. QFII can inhibit the behavior of tunneling of the substantial shareholder of state-owned enterprises and private enterprises, and the inhibition effect is better in private enterprises. However, there is no inhibition effect on the behavior of tunneling of the substantial shareholder of foreign-funded enterprises.

Abstract: In the present paper, low carbon steel strips with different phosphorus contents were produced using a twin roll strip casting process. The solidification structure was studied and its features were analyzed in detail. It was found that the strips possessed a fine microstructure compared with the mould cast steels. With increasing phosphorus content more ferrite has been formed with finer grains.

Abstract: Preeclampsia (PE) is a life-threatening complication of pregnancy. The precise origin of PE remains obscure. Placenta has been considered to play a central role in its pathology. Here we present a brief overlook of placenta related pathogenic factors that might be involved in the pathology changes of PE. A series of factors that correlated with placenta pathology have been regarded attributed to the mechanism of the disease. Some of the factors may be confirmed to be useful biomarkers in the early prediction and monitoring of the disease in a future.

A recent paper by Rowe et al described that curcumin induced DNA damage in triple negative breast cancer cells and regulated BRCA1 protein expression and modification. Abstract: This is a pedagogical and self-contained review on obtaining electroweak precision constraints on TeV scale new physics using the effective theory method. We identify a set of relevant effective operators in the standard model and calculate from them corrections to all major electroweak precision observables. The corrections are compared with data to put constraints on the effective operators. Various approaches and applications in the literature are reviewed.
