Computer-Aided in Choosing Education Programs (CASCEP)

Abstract: Computer-Aided Decision Making (CADM) has been widely used in various decision contexts. This study is focused on CADM for Choosing Education Programs (CASCEP) to rank the performance of a set of decision alternative with respect to multiple criteria. CASCEP has been developed in Visual Basic (VB) that will select and rank the programs that are more suitable to the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) leavers based on 2 inter-related factors: the student’s SPM results and minimum programs requirements. In this prototype, 5 programs are offered by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have been selected as a sample programs. Rule-based reasoning technique is used as an engine in order to search the most suitable education program. In this engine, score or value of each program is generated to rank the programs.
PICA: Pipeline Integrated Corrosion Assessment Tool for Structure Integrity

Abstract: The study develops an automated assessment tool specially tailored for corroding steel pipeline used to convey hydrocarbon deposit. The newly developed tool named PICA integrates deterministic and reliability method to evaluate the time-variant remaining allowable pressure of steel pipelines subjects to internal and external corrosion based on series of metal loss data. The deterministic assessment method is preferred by pipeline operator due to its simplicity, yet the accuracy is still arguable. The integrity of deterministic-based assessment results is dominantly governed by inherent uncertainties which are insufficiently covered by the introduction of safety factor. Whereas reliability assessment requires systematic data sampling and matching method as well as probabilistic nature of the parameters to give more credible and accurate result especially in estimating the corrosion growth rate. The combination of data sampling, statistical analysis, structure assessment and integrity prediction, a hybrid of deterministic and reliability-based methodology, has great potential to be developed as potent assessment software. The assessment software covers wide range of options including selection of assessment codes, corrosion models, data sampling techniques, assessment method and particularly effective to manage the vast amounts of collected data relating to pipeline condition, in a way that enables pipeline operators to monitor the pipeline integrity efficiently. By integrating various stages of pipeline assessment procedure into a systematic assessment framework, it can greatly assist pipeline operator to protect the public, financial investment and environment from such devastating effects owing to pipeline failures.
Review of Feature Detection Techniques for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping and System on Chip Approach

Abstract: In Vision Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (VSLAM), feature detection is used in landmark extraction and data association. It examines each pixel to find interesting part of an image that would differentiate the landmark and the less important image details. There are numerous studies in this field but they are scattered in many journals and proceedings which would require many hours just to find related material. Therefore, this research has grouped important studies done in this field to be analyzed by future researcher. Feature detection techniques such as Harris, Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT), Speeded-Up Robust Features (SURF), Features from Accelerated Segment Test (FAST) and etc. is discussed in this study. A background history of each technique, their evolution and performance comparison is presented.
Smart Parking System using Image Processing Techniques in Wireless Sensor Network Environment

Abstract: This study aims to improve parking facilities by the introduction of a new Smart Parking Systems that would reduce empty parking space searching time. Most of the recent parking technologies relies on intrusive sensor to detect empty parking space and did not specifically guide patrons to specific parking lot. Therefore, the author proposed the implementation of Smart Parking System using image processing technique, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and shortest path algorithm in order to help patrons in finding vacant parking space. The pre existing security surveillance (CCTVs) will be used as a sensing nodes to identify vacant parking space. The captured image will be processed through the RabbitCore Microcontroller and the processed data will be transmitted via ZigBee to a central computer to store and update the occupancy status of available parking space vacancies in the database. The system will automatically assigned a space to patrons using A-Star (A*) shortest path algorithm based on the point of nearest entrance of the building. The patron will be guided to the specified location by referring to variable massage sign and the map printed on the parking ticket. RFID technology will also be used to uniquely tag the reserved ID to the database. The information on the ID will be used to remind patrons of their parking location during payment upon leaving.
Parking Guidance System Utilizing Wireless Sensor Network and Ultrasonic Sensor

Abstract: This study introduces a new approach of parking system by using Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology equipped with ultrasonic sensors. The system also implements shortest path algorithm to calculate the shortest distance from the parking berth to the nearest preferred entrance. The system operates by monitoring the availability of the vehicle berth and making the information collected available for patrons and car-park operator. The information gained from the detection sensor and calculation from the shortest path algorithm is used to guide patrons to parking berth. The car-park operators use the sensors’ information to aid in overall management and planning. WSN is chosen since it enables reliable information gathering and measurement to be transmitted through wireless channel without having to install new cabling for network and electricity to reach each sensing device.
Car Park System: A Review of Smart Parking System and its Technology

Abstract: Due to the proliferation in the number of vehicles on the road, traffic problems are bound to exist. This is due to the fact that the current transportation infrastructure and car park facility developed are unable to cope with the influx of vehicles on the road. To alleviate the aforementioned problems, the smart parking system has been developed. With the implementation of the smart parking system, patrons can easily locate and secure a vacant parking space at any car park deemed convenient to them. Vehicle ingress and egress are also made more convenient with the implementation of hassle free payment mechanism. With vehicle detection sensors aplenty on the market, the choices made may defer due to the different requirements in addition to the its pros and cons. Subsequently, the various sensor systems used in developing the systems in addition to the recent research and commercial system on the market are examined as vehicle detection plays a crucial role in the smart parking system.

Abstract: we analyze the recent results concerning the anomalous localization properties of one-dimensional and quasi-one-dimensional guiding structures with stratified and surface disorder. the main focus of our study is the role of long-range correlations in random scattering. it is shown that with a proper type of correlations, one can construct a stratification or surface profile that results in a complete transmission/reflection within a prescribed region of the wave number of incoming classical or quantum waves.
Study on Antimicrobial Resistant in Saudi Arabia

Abstract: This study aimed at assessing the underlying causes of antimicrobial resistance in Saudi Arabia. About 50 patients randomly selected whose proved to have Staphylococcus antimicrobial resistance detected by Bact tech in Assir hospital microbiology laboratory. A special questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of patients towards using antimicrobials beside epidemiological and demographic data. Results showed that the nationality of all patients were Saudian (49 patients) only one was a Sudanese. About 22 patients were 16-40 years of age, the attitude of patients towards their treating doctor or pharmacist involved 13, deferent 11, critical (serious) 14 and ignored by 12 which almost equally distributed. About 64% patients used to exaggerate their symptoms to their doctor to let him prescribed any antimicrobial drugs. About 64% of patients purchase the antimicrobial drugs depending on the quality. Knowing the dosage of antimicrobial was enlisted by 84% patients. About 64% of patients used to have description of the antimicrobial dosage by treating physicians 20% by pharmacists. About 35 patients (70%) have received drug side effects description. The patients compliance grading <50% towards following their medication dosage was enlisted in 22 patients (44%). About 27 patients (54%) have no home animals while 23 patients (46%) have got home animals (7 patients have cats, 7 have goats, 6 have sheep, 2 have camels and 1 have dog). Only 7 patients (14%) have noticed infected wound on their home animals, 2 patients of them (4%) used to treat their home infected animals. About 20 patients (40%) used to through some of antimicrobial home waste in open carbidge. Conclusion deduced from of this study; antimicrobial resistance is a major health problem and patients often do not comply with antimicrobial prescription, enhancing the development of antimicrobial resistance during treatment.
Epidemiology of Infertility in Gezira Region, Central of Sudan

Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the etiology of infertility among Sudanese couples. This study was a cohort study and it was held in Wad medani city, Gezira state (central of Sudan), the study group was composed of 200 infertile couples presented with infertility to the primary health care units. Demographic and epidemiological data were collected in special questionnaire. Medical history and examination was performed by the health centre doctor, midwife, nurse. Variable investigations were done including; blood, urine, hormonal assay, seminal analysis, histosalpingiography and ultra sounds. Outcome results were 79.5% were suffered from primary infertility and 20.5% had secondary infertility. Infertility due to husbands only was 20% that due to wives alone was 37.5% and infertility due to both couple was 31% while those with unknown aetiology was 11%. Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STDs) were not incriminated as an infertility etiological factor.
