Abstract: This study provides an analytical discussion for the issue of religious fundamentalism and itsrelevance to conflict, in its broader sense. It is stressed that religious fundamentalism manifests itself in twoways: nonviolent intolerance and violent intolerance. The sources of both types of intolerance and theirconnection to conflict are addressed and discussed in detail. Further research is also suggested on conditionsconnecting religion to nonviolent intolerance so as to cope with the problem more effectively.

The study is based on the assumption that since mediation has been a growing activity around the world, exploring different cultures and learning how these cultures resolve their conflicts may contribute to the path towards an excellence practice of mediation. Through exploring the Turkish case and talking about many practical shortcomings of mediation, the study also reaches certain suggestions to make mediation a more effective tool of conflict resolution.

Abstract: The goal of this dissertation is to investigate to test whether any changes have been made inthe organizational trust levels of the schools according to some variables. The independentvariables of this research are the gender, major of the teachers, and some facts about the teacherssuch as; whether they are a member of a union or not, whether they are joining any socialactivities outside of school or not and. In addition, the number of teachers. On the other hand, the dependent variables of this research are the sensitivity of the schools to their employees, thetrust level for the directors, the communication inside the school and the openness to new ideas. This research is done by survey model and based on 378 665 teachers that were employed inpublic schools that are associated with the Ministry of National Education. In order to providethe necessary quality representation of teachers in this research, 1536 people are calculated as aminimum number according to opinions from the experts and some experimental techniques. And the experiments have been conducted on 1144 women and 1288 men as a total of 2432teachers.In this search, “Scale organizational trust of school,” is utilized to obtain the organizationaltrust levels of the public schools. According to the experimental results, the average points for the sensitivity of the schools to their employees, the trust level for the directors, thecommunication inside the school and the openness to new ideas have been dramatically changeddepending upon the gender of the teachers and some facts about the teachers such as; whetherthey are joining any social activities outside of school or not and. the number of teachers. On theother hand, the major of the teachers and the fact that they are a member of a union or not has amarginal effect on for the sensitivity of the schools to their employees, the trust level for thedirectors, the communication inside the school and the openness to new ideas.

Journal of the Turkish-German Gynecological Association , 2012,
Abstract: Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the depression and anxiety levels of pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum by using the Beck depression and anxiety inventory scoring system in a Turkish population. Material and Methods: To ascertain this relationship, a case-control study was conducted involving 86 pregnant women in their first trimester of pregnancy. Forty-one subjects had hyperemesis gravidarum, and 45 were healthy pregnant women who served as control subjects. The groups were adjusted for age, parity, and body mass index. All included women were subjected to baseline laboratory investigations including serum TSH and total hCG levels. Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the groups with respect to the demographic and obstetric parameters and baseline laboratory investigations except the mean serum potassium level, which was significantly lower in patients with hyperemesis gravidarum than in the control group (p=0.039). Patients with hyperemesis gravidarum had significantly higher depression and anxiety scores than control cases (p=0.0001 and p=0.049, respectively). Conclusion: Our results suggest that increased anxiety and depression levels may be involved in the pathogenesis of hyperemesis gravidarum and extra psychological support may be necessary during the treatment and follow-up of these patients.

Abstract: Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of IMA and the effect of Type-2 diabetes in peripheral arterial ischemic patient. Methods: In our study, randomized patient groups to be undergone peripheral surgery, consisting of 16 diabetic and 12 non-diabetic patients diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease, have been examined. After standard anesthesia, the surgery was performed by the same surgical team, blood samples were taken before and after cross-clamp, and the levels of ischemia modified albumin (IMA), which is a new ischemic marker, were studied spectrophotometrically. Demographic data were compared with the type-2 diabetes association. Results: In this study, we found that there were no correlation with the ankle brachial index (ABI) and risk factors of diabetes between postoperative IMA levels (P: 0.47). Preoperative IMA serum blood levels were significantly higher in patients with peripheral arterial disease (P: 0.70), and positively associated with ABI (diabetic group P: 0.04, non-diabetic group P: 00). Also, no correlation was found with X clamp times, ABI, and IMA blood levels (P: 0.30). In diabetic group, ischemia marker increase was high and there was a positive correlation between HbA1c levels (P: 0.002). Conclusion: Our study suggested that, preoperative serum IMA levels were positively associated with ABI. In diabetic group, the increase in IMA levels was high and there was positive correlation between HbA1c levels. IMA was a benefit marker for monitoring and early diagnosis of the peripheral arterial disease.

Abstract: Objective: Bladder cancer is the second most common cancer of the urinary tract. Radical cystectomy and urinary diversion is the gold standard treatment model of invasive bladder cancer.Patient and Methods: We evaluated 71 patients who underwent radical cystectomy, retrospectively according to their demographic properties, pre-operative and post-operative pathologies and method of urinary diversion and the complications between January 2003 and 2008.Results: Mean follow-up was 28.8 months after the operation. The pathologic stage was superficial at 13 patients (18%), T2 at 20 patients (28%), T3 at 25 patients (35%) and T4 at 14 patients (19%). Squamous cell carcinoma was reported in 7 and lymph node metastasis was in 24 patients. Postoperative short-term complications were wound infection in 12, wound eventration at 6, ileus in 3 and urinary leakage form ureteroileal anastomosis in 2 patients. Additionally, loop stenosis in 1 patient and allergic reaction due to urostomy material in 1 patient were noted. 2 patients died at the same time day after the operation. Conclusion: Radical cystectomy is found to be effective treatment modality with low complication rates parallel to the data in the literature.

Abstract: Fibroepithelial polyps (FEP) of the urinary tract are rare, benign non-epithelial tumors. They may involve the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder or urethra. They are composed of stroma derived from mesoderm and covered by a layer of normal transitional epithelial cells. In contrast to tumors of epithelial origin, malignant degeneration of FEP has not been reported. FEP can cause urinary obstruction with the most common presenting symptom beign ipsilateral flank pain with or without hematuria. We report a 23 years-old woman who presented to our clinic with bilateral flank pain and macroscopic hematuria.

Abstract: Hepatitis B infection is one of the causes of morbidity and mortality in long-term survivors of renal transplantation. Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for HbsAg and antiHbs antibody negative end stage renal disease patients before transplantation. Serologies to detect hepatitis B infection are included in the routine assessment of renal transplant candidates. However false positive assays for HbsAg can be recognized after hepatitis B vaccination. Hemodialysis patients have been found to be at higher risk for this complication. We present the rst case in the literature of renal transplantation during false positive Hbs antigenemia after hepatitis B vaccination.
