The Elicitation of Prospective EFL Teachers’ Computer Anxiety and Attitudes
International Online Journal of Educational Sciences , 2011,
Abstract: This study aimed at investigating the relationship between computer anxiety and computer attitude and examining the effects of background characteristics on prospective EFL teachers’ computer anxiety and computer attitude. Computer Anxiety Scale (CARS), designed by Heinssen, Glass & Knight (1987) and Computer Attitude Scale (CAS), developed by Loyd & Gressard (1985) and modified by Yuen & Ma (2001) were administered to 70 prospective EFL teachers. Descriptive results indicated that prospective EFL teachers had relatively moderate scores in CARS (M=3.20; SD=.35729) and the sub-scales of CAS, computer confidence (M=3.02; SD= .43951), computer liking (M=3.17; SD= .47379) and computer usefulness (M=3.35; SD= .67647). Although a significant correlation was found between computer anxiety and computer liking (r = .35, n=70, p< 0.01), no significant correlation was found between computer anxiety and computer confidence (r = .19, n=70, p 0.01) and between computer anxiety and computer usefulness (r = .22, n=70, p 0.01). In the study, age, year of study, computer ownership and degree of access to computers were not found to be significant correlates of computer anxiety and computer attitude. While gender and the CAS subscale ‘‘usefulness (r = .28, n=70, p< 0.05) and CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) and CAS subscale ‘‘liking (r = 23, n=70, p< 0.05) were found to be positively correlated, computer courses taken previously and the CAS subscale ‘‘liking (r = -.24, n=70, p< 0.05) and computer experience and the CAS subscale ‘‘confidence (r = -.30, n=70, p< 0.01) were found to be negatively correlated.
Floquet theory based on new periodicity concept for hybrid systems involving $q$-difference equations

Abstract: Using the new periodicity concept based on shifts, we construct a unified Floquet theory for homogeneous and nonhomogeneous hybrid periodic systems on domains having continuous, discrete or hybrid structure. New periodicity concept based on shifts enables the construction of Floquet theory on hybrid domains that are not necessarily additive periodic. This makes periodicity and stability analysis of hybrid periodic systems possible on non-additive domains. In particular, this new approach can be useful to know more about Floquet theory for linear $q$-difference systems defined on $\overline{q^{\mathbb{Z}}}:=\{q^{n}% :n\in\mathbb{Z}\} \cup \{0\}$ where $q>1$. By constructing the solution of matrix exponential equation we establish a canonical Floquet decomposition theorem. Determining the relation between Floquet multipliers and Floquet exponents, we give a spectral mapping theorem on closed subsets of reals that are periodic in shifts. Finally, we show how the constructed theory can be utilized for the stability analysis of dynamic systems on periodic time scales in shifts.

Journal of Clinical and Analytical Medicine , 2011, DOI: 10.4328
Abstract: Aim: This study was designed to overview our limitations, the point of view of other clinical disciplines about our department, and to outline the sphere of our interests by analysing the consultation data requested from the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) for patients hospitalizedin other departments.Material and Methods; This trial was performed using the data of consultations made by our PM&R department in patients hospitalized in other clinical departments between December 2007 and December 2008. The department which requested the consultation, the reason for the consultation request, the diagnosis made and the treatment recommended by our PM&R Department were all recorded. The results were given in the number of patients and percentages. Results: A total of 373 consultations were requested by 17 different departments (186 females and 187 males) throughout the study. The most common diagnoses made by our department were neurological and rheumatological diseases. Conclusions: The results of our study suggest that our department is primarily regarded as a rehabilitation unit, while it is also known as a therapeutic clinic, particularly for rheumatological diseases, which we mainly attribute to the presence of a rheumatology division in our department. In the light of our findings, we concluded that diagnosis and therapy of rheumatological diseases should be particularly included in the educational programs of PM&R residents.

Abstract: Statistical methods are useful for characterizing seismic hazard because earthquakes are, for all practical purposes, random phenomena. They provide additional insights to the seismic hazard or risk problem. Seismic risk and earthquake occurrence probabilities can be estimated by using probability distributions. In this study Weibull, Log-normal, Log-logistic, Exponential and Gamma distributions have been examined for which one has the best fit for the given data. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test statistics was used at the research of the distribution best represents earthquake data. At the end of the test, it has been detected that Weibull distribution is more appropriate than other distributions.

Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: In this work we study the existence of periodic and asymptotically periodic solutions of a system of nonlinear Volterra difference equations with infinite delay. By means of fixed point theory, we furnish conditions that guarantee the existence of such periodic solutions.

Abstract: Introduction: For tracheal stenosis, tracheal resection and anastomosis is widely considered the treatment of choice. However, this surgical approach is not feasible when the glottis and subglottis are involved or in patients with a poor general condition and tracheal stents are a plausible means of providing a permanent or temporary airway opening. Objectives: Evaluate the features and the results of patients with Montgomery T-tube in tracheal stenosis. Methods: Fifteen patients with Myer-Cotton grades 2-3 circular cicatricial tracheal stenosis who received a Montgomery T-tube between 2002-2011 were analyzed in terms of age, gender, etiology, duration of intubation, location and size of the stenotic segment on computed tomography(CT), follow-up time with the T-tube, the complications that occurred after T-tube removed and additional tracheal surgery. Conclusion: A T-tube can be applied in tracheal stenosis at the first treatment before attempting surgery. The patients should be closely followed-up due to the possibility of re-stenosis and other complications.

Medical Journal of Bakirk?y , 2007,
Abstract: Toxic epidermal necrolysis is characterized by a blistering and peeling of the top layer of skin. Toxic epidermal necrolysis represents the most severe variant of a disease spectrum that consists of bullous erythema multiforme (EM) and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS). This disorder can be caused by a drug reaction most often penicillin, anticonvulsants, nonsteroid antiin amatory drugs or another disease such as viral, bacterial and mycoplasma pneumonia infections. The annual incidence of the disease is 0.4-1.2: 1 000 000. Boys are affected one a half times than girls. In this report 7.5 months old boy admitted to the hospital with the complaints of high fever, cough, malaise, poor sucking, three-four days exist cutaneous eruptions, and diarrhea with a history of co-trimoxasole treatment diagnosed as toxic epidermal necrolysis is presented.
