Plasma Internal Energy for Toroidal Elliptic Plasmas with Triangularity  [PDF]

Abstract: The Plasma internal energy is not conserved on a magnetic surface if nonlinear flows are considered. The analysis here presented leads to a complicated equation for the plasma internal energy considering nonlinear flows in the collisional regime, including viscosity and in the low-vorticity approximation. Tokamak equilibrium has been analyzed with the magnetohydrodynamics nonlinear momentum equation in the low vorticity case. A generalized Grad–Shafranov-type equation has been also derived for this case.

Broadband over Power Line (BPL) is an alternative means of providing high-speed Internet access, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and other broadband services to homes and businesses by using the existing medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) power lines. This paper provides a comprehensive understanding about BPL with its implementation prospects. In this context, the existing power grid infrastructures are discussed elaborately. BPL system functionality with its components and its benefits over other access technologies is also pointed out. Implementation scenarios for various deployment options are illustrated here. The different implementation challenges for BPL system, such as the characteristics of power lines, attenuation problem, noise, potential interference with the other radio frequencies are also presented with their remedies. Comparative analysis between several broadband access technologies shows the feasibility of BPL deployments all over the world.

Abstract: In this work a review of existing fire-detector types has been carried out along with the development of a low cost, portable, and reliable microcontroller based automated fire alarm system for remotely alerting any fire incidents in household or industrial premises. The aim of the system designed is to alert the distant property-owner efficiently and quickly by sending short message (SMS) via GSM network. A Linear integrated temperature sensor detects temperature beyond preset value whereas semiconductor type sensor detects presence of smoke or gas from fire hazards. The sensor units are connected via common data line to ATMega8L AVR microcontroller. A SIM300CZ GSM kit based network module, capable of operating in standard GSM bands, has been used to send alert messages. The system is implemented on printed circuit board (PCB) and tested under different experimental conditions to evaluate its performances.
Modelling Soil Water Dynamics under Rainfed Agriculture to Mitigate Climate Change

Abstract: The model performance to simulate soil water dynamics was evaluated by comparing the predicted soil water content values with calculated soil water at different phenological stages of wheat and total soil available water using neutron probe. The pre-sowing soil water (mm) in this study varied from 40 to 50 mm in loam and sandy clay soil of Islamabad and Chakwal, respectively. When soil water is >50 mm, its effect on crop establishment is dependent on amount and temporal distribution of rainfall. Plant available soil water seems to be the most important factor if rainfall occurs between sowing and floral initiation period as happened during 2008-09 in the present study. The dynamics of soil water from emergence to maturity represented here as total soil water that remained maximum at earlier plant stages especially when crop roots were established and utilized soil water effectively that resulted in the lowest level of water at maturity which can be due to the evapotranspiration. The results depicted that the soil water distribution pattern mainly depends on soil properties and if sowing methodologies are resilient with available soil water then crop stand will be good and crop uses water much effectively. The results also depicted that when soil water is at drain upper limit (DUL) and the crop sown at proper time along with least soil evaporation, the soil water can be more easily taken up by the plant roots. Furthermore, the simulated soil water by the model was in close agreement with actual data. The validation skill scores like R2 confirmed the actuality of the model, therefore, dynamic model like Agricultural Production System Simulator (APSIM) could be used to describe the distribution of rainwater into different components like infiltration, runoff and drainage, and it can be used as a decision support tool for accurate management of different cultural operations for sustainable atmosphere-soil-plant (ASP) system.

Abstract: Steady Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Equations of force, density and energy for quantum plasmas have been derived. These equations constitute our Steady Magnetohydrodynamic model for quantum plasmas. All the quantum effects are contained in the last term of quantum force equation and in the last three terms of quantum Energy Equation, so-called Bohm potential and may be valuable for the description of quantum phenomena like tunneling.
Herbal treatment of secretory diarrhea

Abstract: The research study is conducted to understand interaction of illness, symptoms, context, patients response and the clinical skill vis a vis better management of secretory diarrhea. Specific aim of this study is to determine the impact of intensive medical intervention with herbal drug “Dirasif” (Test) and allopathic drug “Furoxone” (Control) to treat secretory diarrhea. This is randomized controlled clinical trial in primary care with an open intervention. All patients judged by the physician to need either herbal or allopathic medicine for secretory diarrhea are randomized in treatment therapy. Clinical trial was conducted on hundred patients from both groups i.e.50 patient from control and 50 from experimental group having age between 12-40 year.Comparison of data recorded by participants relating to these variables showed significant differences between test and control groups (p < 0.05) despite the fact that no side effects were recorded in test group. Overall clinical success was observed in both treatment groups however the efficacy of the test treated medication (Dirasif) was superior as p=0.03. Dirasif is more effective than the Furoxone in the treatment of secretory diarrhea in Gadap community Karachi, Pakistan. Keywords: Secretory diarrhea, efficacy, dirasif, furoxone

Abstract: This article investigates the long run and short run effect of exchange rate changes on foreign aid of Pakistan by applying unit root and cointegration analysis. The data set includes annual observations for the period 1973-2010. Moreover, this study examines four alternative but equally plausible hypotheses, each with different policy implications. These are: i) foreign aid cause Real Exchange Rate (the conventional view), ii) Real Exchange Rate cause foreign aid, iii) There is a bi-directional causality between the two variables and iv) Both variables are causality independent (although highly correlated). The empirical evidence findssignificant positive relationship between exchange rate changes and foreign aid in long run, as well as in short run. Both in the long and short run, foreign aid is affected by exchange rate changes.

Abstract: Introduction: The term “acute abdomen” denotes any sudden spontaneousnon-traumatic disorder whose chief manifestation is in the abdominal area. There is frequently a progressive underlyingintra-abdominal disorder, the correct early diagnosis and treatment of which is essential for a favorable outcome.Objectives: (I) To find out the most common causes of acute abdomen. (II) To compare the preoperative assessmentwith postoperative diagnosis. Design: A Non-interventional Analytical (Comparative) study. Setting: Emergencydepartment of Combined Military Hospital Kharian. Period: Oct 2001 to Mar 2002. Patients & Methods: Total of 220patients who presented with acute abdomen. Results: The most frequent cause was found to be Acute Appendicitis,followed by Nonspecific abdominal pain, acute cholecystitis, acute intestinal obstruction and perforated duodenal ulcer.Preoperative diagnosis was wrong in 9.5% (n=21) of cases. Conclusion: Acute appendicitis was found to be the mostcommon cause of acute abdomen and the single most important cause of acute abdominal pain causing greatdiagnostic difficulties. the preoperative diagnostic accuracy can be increased especially in female of child bearing ageby using modern diagnostic tools especially laparoscopy.

Abstract: The Islamic banking is one of the most rapidly emerging trends in many different parts of the world. The interest based banking system has now been very evident to the economies regarding their impacts on the economies and the individuals involved. The study analyzed the key determinants of the Islamic banking in the banking customers living in Peshawar KPK using a self-administered questionnaire to collect data from the customers. Using a multiple regression model the study analyzed the data collected from a sample of 45 respondents and the results of the study suggest that the positive aspects of the Islamic banking and the flaws of the interests based has a positive relationship with the acceptance of the Islamic banking in Muslims across Peshawar
TCP/IP Based Intelligent Load Management System in Micro-Grids Network Using MATLAB/Simulink  [PDF]

Abstract: Computerized power management system with fast and optimal communication network overcomes all major dicrepencies of undue or inadequate load relief that were present in old conventional systems. This paper presents the basic perception and methodology of modern and true intelligent load management scheme in micro grids topology by employing TCP/IP protocol for fast and intelligent switching. The network understudy performs load management and power distribution intelligently in a unified network. Generated power is efficiently distributed among local loads through fast communication system of server in the form of source and clients in the form of loads through TCP/IP. The efficient use of information between server and clients enables to astutely control the load management in a power system of micro grids system. The processing time of above stated system comes out to be 10ms faster than others which ensure very less delay as compared to conventional methods. The Micro Grids system operating through TCP/IP control has been implemented in MATLAB/Simulink and results have been verified.
