Abstract: We present a study to field measurement and laboratory experiments of light for university students in physical oceanography. During 6thto 8thof February 2009 in two stations of Bushehr province central coasts, sampling of sea water and other effective physical parameters were carried out. The effects of laser light in 532, 659, and 980nm on the collected water samples in two different stations were studied. Then light attenuation coefficient and the amount of light penetration percentage for these stations at different depths were calculated. According to the results of this study, light attenuation coefficient in the first station, the wave length for red and infrared lights is more than the wave length for green light. For red and infrared wave lengths the amount of light absorption in the first station is more than the second one. The salinity, temperature, and cloud cover parameters are not effective in the amount of light absorption. The effective factor in increasing the amount of light absorption in this station than the second station is water turbidity

In Chile, tradition linked wine and sociability. A disinhibitor, wine tacitly encouraged the urbanity proper to bars and family gatherings. But in this field, innocence has gone. Programmed by its producers, wine drinking has erupted in new urban activities, along with an adequate dose of Internet and new marketing strategies.
Effects of Three Types of Oil Dispersants on Biodegradation of Dispersed Crude Oil in Water Surrounding Two Persian Gulf Provinces

Journal of Environmental and Public Health , 2012, DOI: 10.1155/2012/981365
Abstract: Objective. To determine the most effective and biodegradable dispersant of spilled oil in water surrounding two Persian Gulf provinces. Methods. This study compared the effects of three dispersants, Pars 1, Pars 2, and Gamlen OD4000 on removal of oil in two Persian Gulf provinces' water. Overall, 16 stations were selected. Using the Well method, the growth rate of isolated bacteria and fungi was identified. To specify the growth rate of microorganisms and their usage of oil in the presence of the above-mentioned dispersants, as exclusive sources of carbon, the bacteria were grown in culture medium for 28 days at 120 rpm, 30°C, and their optical density was measured by spectrophotometry. Then, we tested biological oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in microorganisms. Results. The highest growth rate was documented for the growth of microorganisms on either Pars 1 or Pars 2 dispersants or their mixtures with oil. However, the culture having microorganisms grown on Pars 1 had higher BOD and COD than the other two dispersants (9200 and 16800 versus 500 and 960, <0.05). Mixture of oil and Pars 2 as well as oil and Pars 1 dispersants showed the highest BODs and CODs, respectively. In the Bahregan province, microorganisms grown on Pars 2 had maximum amount of BOD and COD in comparison with Pars 1 and Gamlen dispersants (7100 and 15200 versus 6000 and 10560, <0.05). Conclusion. Pars 1 and Pars 2 were the most effective dispersants with highest degradability comparing Gamlen. In each region, the most suitable compound for removing oil spill from offshores with least secondary contamination should be investigated.

First national intercomparison of solar ultraviolet radiometers in Italy

Atmospheric Measurement Techniques Discussions , 2011, DOI: 10.5194/amtd-4-2789-2011
Abstract: A blind intercomparison of ground-based ultraviolet (UV) instruments has been organized for the first time in Italy. The campaign was coordinated by the Environmental Protection Agency of Aosta Valley (ARPA Valle d'Aosta) and took place in Saint-Christophe (45.8° N, 7.4° E, 570 m a.s.l.), in the Alpine region, from 8 to 23 June 2010. It involved 8 institutions, 10 broadband radiometers, 2 filter radiometers and 2 spectroradiometers. Synchronized measurements of downward global solar UV irradiance at the ground were collected and the raw series were then individually processed by the respective operators on the basis of their own procedures and calibration data. The comparison was performed in terms of global solar UV Index and integrated UV-A irradiance against a well-calibrated double monochromator spectroradiometer as reference. An improved algorithm for comparing broadband data and spectra has been developed. For some instruments, we found average deviations ranging from 16 % up to 20 % relative to the reference and diurnal variations as large as 15 % even in clear days. Remarkable deviations also arose from instruments recently in operation and never involved in field intercomparison.
