Leonardo Simal Moreira Advances in Linear Algebra & Matrix Theory (ALAMT) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/alamt.2013.31001 Abstract: The cross product in Euclidean space IR3 is an operation in which two vectors are associated to generate a third vector, also in space IR3. This product can be studied rewriting its basic equations in a matrix structure, more specifically in terms of determinants. Such a structure allows extending, for analogy, the ideas of the cross product for a type of the product of vectors in higher dimensions, through the systematic increase of the number of rows and columns in determinants that constitute the equations. So, in a n-dimensional space with Euclidean norm, we can associate n – 1 vectors and to obtain an n-th vector, with the same geometric characteristics of the product in three dimensions. This kind of operation is also a geometric interpretation of the product defined by Eckman [1]. The same analogies are also useful in the verification of algebraic properties of such products, based on known properties of determinants.
Leonardo Simal Moreira Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.51015 Abstract: Recently I published a paper in the journal ALAMT (Advances in Linear Algebra & Matrix Theory) and explored the possibility of obtaining products of vectors in dimensions higher than three [1]. In continuation to this work, it is proposed to develop, through dimensional analogy, a vector field with notation and properties analogous to the curl, in this case applied to the space IR4. One can see how the similarities are obvious in relation to the algebraic properties and the geometric structures, if the rotations are compared in spaces of three and four dimensions.
Alberto da Silva Moreira Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2014.24043 Abstract: The challenges faced by this paper are two folds: to understanding how cultural changes brought about by globalization can influence religions and, conversely, how religions can influence broader cultural change. Globalization has spread powerful cultural forms, such as international popular consumer culture, media culture and the culture of the individual. These cultural forms or horizons interact with and transform local cultures which are often intertwined with traditional religions. Throughout this process, traditional religion can weaken its potential to express local cultures, but can also become a vehicle used to express strategies of identity affirmation. Many modalities of globalization-compatible religion, like Pentecostalism, are also consistently penetrated by consumer culture, media culture and individualism. When they interact with traditional religion, they often function as a critical dissolving factor. Therefore, Pentecostalism and similar religions have themselves become active factors in (global) cultural change processes.
Alberto da Silva Moreira Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2014.210003 Abstract: Inserted in the processes of economic, political and cultural globalization, there is a crisis within traditional meaning-producing and identity-creating institutions, such as the state, family, school and traditional religions, going on in Brazil and in other Latin American countries. If in the 1930s being Brazilian and Catholic were considered two sides of the same national religious identity coin, which could be applied, mutatis mutandis, to other countries in the region, today Brazil is rapidly becoming a multi-cultural and multi-religious country. It remains the largest Catholic country, but is also already the largest Pentecostal and the largest Spiritualist country in the world. In addition, other religious minorities, such as African-Brazilian religions, Buddhists, Muslims and Jews increasingly occupy the public sphere. Parallel to this shift, there is a significant effort being put forth by many Brazilian and South American religious communities to expand on a global level, such as the Pentecostals, charismatic Catholics, Spiritualists and Afro-Brazilian communities. This presentation analyzes the causes and the data related to this religious and identity change and highlights some trends for the future.
The widespread political resistance to the government took several different ways. Such resistances may include legitimate or non-legitimate approaches, within or outside the Constitution, involving or not the representative political institutions. At the same time, these processes may pursue different objectives which include from civil disobedience up to the government ousting. This article examines the most common institutionalized ways of civil resistance to the government: the use of direct democracy to change the unpopular government’s policies. Specifically, this article examines the use of referendum in Uruguay, since the transition to democracy in 1985 to date.
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-166X2010000400011 Abstract: carl rogers' interests took on different focuses over the period of his thinking, such that his commentators divided his theory into different phases. more than 20 years after he passed away, what can be seen at the present time is a huge diversity of streams which call themselves person centered approach or which are related to it. with the objective of contributing to a broader, present-day understanding of the approach created by rogers, this article aims to revisit the so called phases of the person centered approach and proposes a new phase - the post-rogerian phase - which consists of present streams which, emerging from different phases of the rogerian theory, assume different paths and create new, contemporary theorizations.
Estudos de Psicologia (Natal) , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-294X1999000100005 Abstract: this article discusses the encounter group as a psychological intervention in the public health area. it shortly describes a research and its aplication in the domestic violence program mantained by the consultorio externo of the escuela de psicología at pontificia universidad católica de chile. it used a phenomenological method to analysethe videotaped sessions. the results show that the emergent content of the sessions referred basicaly to the themes related to domestic violence towards women and the ways to cope with this situation, which confirms the hipothesis of encounter group indication for treatment in public health with battered women.
Subjetividad y procesos cognitivos , 2010, Abstract: the david liberman algorithm has allowed carrying out a study of acts of speech and certain scenes of fragments of the awakening of spring by frank wedekind. in it were inferred the motions of the drive languages and their destinies, the states and functions of a teenage character: wendla and the links with her mother, a friend, and a young man named melchor. the analysis, differentiation and identification of the effort of certain languages of drives, destinies, roles and states, along with the inquiry of rhetorical activities that operate as evidence of the defensive acts of thought have allowed to achieve an understanding of the effects of the sacrificial and toxic link, in which wendla is engrossed by her mother, mrs. bergmann, to keep a precarious balance between both, that is externalized in the speech acts and inferred scenes. in this context another instrument of the algorithm is appealed to for the analysis of discourse of the various fragments of the wedekind text: the dictionary. a comparative study between the results obtained previously and those provided by this tool is carried out in order to establish similarities and differences, and draw the pertinent conclusions.
Análise Social , 2006, Abstract: the publication of the dictionary of parliamentary biography (dicionário biográfico parlamentar) from 1834 to 1910 revealed the significance of kinship and family ties between deputies (members of the lower house), senators and peers of the realm. from a total of 2070 biographies there are 928 members of parliament (44,83%) who had ties with at least one other member. these kinship ties were of all types: fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, great-great-grandfathers, sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, brothers, uncles, great-uncles, brothers-in-law, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, fathers-in-law, sons-in-law and stepsons, godfathers, godsons and fellowgodfathers.
Argumentos (México, D.F.) , 2007, Abstract: after two decades of neoliberalism, a wave of leftist governments shakes latin america. just one half a decade, they have been transforming the political geography and this situation states four questions: 1. in what sense can one speak about of homogeneous left-wave of new latin american governments? 2. will they mean a change in the ways of making politics? 3. to what extent will they give an efficient solution to the social crisis of the post market reforms stage? 4. which are the main ideas and principles in order to govern greater part of latin america from now to the next future? in order to approach these questions, do we explore "models of governability" that rise in latin american, taking into account three dimensions: the institutional, the public policy dimension and the symbolic one. conclusions -temporary given the recent events-, states that we are in front of a decisive process for the history of the latin american left.
