Esperan a Carrió,Montse Rigat,Teresa Garnatje,Marina Mayans,Montse Parada,Joan Vallès
Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine , 2012, DOI: 10.1155/2012/896295
Abstract: This paper presents the results of an ethnobotanical study centred in veterinarian uses in two Catalan Pyrenean regions (Alt Empordà -AE- and High River Ter Valley -AT-, Iberian peninsula) and two Balearic Islands areas (Formentera -FO- and northeastern Mallorca -MA-). In the areas studied, 97 plant species have been claimed to be useful for veterinary purposes. A total of 306 veterinary use reports have been gathered and analysed. The ten most reported plants are Tanacetum parthenium (24 use reports), Parietaria officinalis (15), Ranunculus parnassifolius (14), Meum athamanticum (13), Olea europaea (13), Quercus ilex (12), Ruta chalepensis (12), Sambucus nigra (10) and Thymus vulgaris (10). According to comprehensive reviews, a high number of novelties for plant ethnoveterinary are contributed: 34 species and one subspecies, 11 genera, and three families have not been reported in previous works in this field, and 21 species had only been mentioned once. Several ethnoveterinary uses are coincidental with those in human medicine. Although ethnoveterinary practices are less relevant than in the past in the territories considered, as in all industrialised countries, the knowledge on plant properties and applications is still rich and constitutes a large pool of evidence for phytotherapy, both in domestic animals and humans.

Psychology (PSYCH) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2017.810099
Abstract: The article is based on an interview with Prof. Miguel ángel Roca Perara, University of Havana about psychological intervention in Cuba. Trough out his professional career as a clinician and professor, he discusses the different psychological approaches as well as several types of psychotherapy in order to help improving the well-being of clients in Cuba, highlighting the major psychological problems in the country. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy are specially recognized as the more useful to be used in psychological intervention.
[en] This article seeks to reflect upon “Aliento”, a series of worksby Colombian artist Oscar Mu oz, and his unique approach to representing the absent body. Through the conjunction of two props, photographs and mirrors, the artist seeks to remember those who were “disappeared” through state violence in the last military dictatorships in Latin America. From a semiotic perspective, we seek to analyze the characteristics of this piece, which produces a virtual representation that requires the spectator to intervene in the work with his body.
Parallel hierarchical sampling: a practical multiple-chains sampler for Bayesian model selection
Fabio Rigat
Statistics , 2008,
Abstract: This paper introduces the parallel hierarchical sampler (PHS), a Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm using several chains simultaneously. The connections between PHS and the parallel tempering (PT) algorithm are illustrated, convergence of PHS joint transition kernel is proved and and its practical advantages are emphasized. We illustrate the inferences obtained using PHS, parallel tempering and the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm for three Bayesian model selection problems, namely Gaussian clustering, the selection of covariates for a linear regression model and the selection of the structure of a treed survival model.

Decomposition theorem and Riesz basis for axisymmetric potenials in the right hal-plane

Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: The Weinstein equation with complex coefficients is the equation governing generalized axisymmetric potentials (GASP) which can be written as $L_m[u]=\Delta u+\left(m/x\right)\partial_x u =0$, where $m\in\mathbb{C}$. We generalize results known for $m\in\mathbb{R}$ to $m\in\mathbb{C}$. We give explicit expressions of fundamental solutions for Weinstein operators and their estimates near singularities, then we prove a Green's formula for GASP in the right half-plane $\mathbb{H}^+$ for Re $m<1$. We establish a new decomposition theorem for the GASP in any annular domains for $m\in\mathbb{C}$, which is in fact a generalization of the B\^ocher's decomposition theorem. In particular, using bipolar coordinates, we prove for annuli that a family of solutions for GASP equation in terms of associated Legendre functions of first and second kind is complete. For $m\in\mathbb{C}$, we show that this family is even a Riesz basis in some non-concentric circular annulus.
Asesorar es acompa ar
Montse Ventura
PROFESORADO , 2008,
Semi-parametric dynamic time series modelling with applications to detecting neural dynamics
Fabio Rigat,Jim Q. Smith
Statistics , 2010, DOI: 10.1214/09-AOAS275
Abstract: This paper illustrates novel methods for nonstationary time series modeling along with their applications to selected problems in neuroscience. These methods are semi-parametric in that inferences are derived by combining sequential Bayesian updating with a non-parametric change-point test. As a test statistic, we propose a Kullback--Leibler (KL) divergence between posterior distributions arising from different sets of data. A closed form expression of this statistic is derived for exponential family models, whereas standard Markov chain Monte Carlo output is used to approximate its value and its critical region for more general models. The behavior of one-step ahead predictive distributions under our semi-parametric framework is described analytically for a dynamic linear time series model. Conditions under which our approach reduces to fully parametric state-space modeling are also illustrated. We apply our methods to estimating the functional dynamics of a wide range of neural data, including multi-channel electroencephalogram recordings, longitudinal behavioral experiments and in-vivo multiple spike trains recordings. The estimated dynamics are related to the presentation of visual stimuli, to the evaluation of a learning performance and to changes in the functional connections between neurons over a sequence of experiments.
Translation and Reliability of the Preliminary Spanish Version of the Sport Imagery Questionnaire  [PDF]
Montse C. Ruiz, Anthony P. Watt
Advances in Physical Education (APE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ape.2012.22013
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability of the preliminary Spanish version of the Sport Imagery Questionnaire (SIQ). The SIQ was developed to examine five cognitive and motivational functions of imagery use. Participants were 81 athletes competing in soccer (n = 43) and roller skating (n = 38), ranging in age from 14 to 29 years (M = 18.10, SD = 3.16). Reliability was evaluated through internal consistency analyses of the scale. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were high indicating that the scale is a reliable instrument for the measurement of imagery use in Spanish athletes. Further psychometric research should now examine factor structure and imagery use across competitive level and type of sport in a larger sample of Spanish athletes.
A boundary Problem for conjugate conductivity equations
Slah Chaabi,Stéphane Rigat,Franck Wielonsky
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: We give explicit integral formulas for the solutions of planar conjugate conductivity equations in a circular domain of the right half-plane with conductivity $\sigma(x,y)=x^p$, $p\in\mathbb{Z}$. The representations are obtained via a Riemann-Hilbert problem on the complex plane when $p$ is even and on a two-sheeted Riemann surface when $p$ is odd. They involve the Dirichlet and Neumann data on the boundary of the domain. We also show how to make the conversion from one type of conditions to the other by using the so-called global relation. The method used to derive our integral representations could be applied in any bounded simply-connected domain of the right half-plane with a smooth boundary.
