Re-writing and its pedagogical value: A case study
Montse Irun Chavarria
Sintagma : Revista de Lingüística , 2004,
Abstract: The research presented in this paper was designed to investigate the fact that, considering the large amount of time and energy teachers devote to the correction of compositions and written work, the effect of this effort on other student learning activities appears to be minimal. The results of this study seem to suggest that correction of this type does not facilitate language learning. The way in which this feedback activity is presented to the students and the status given to it within an approach to the process of writing are key aspects to making corrections helpful in the acquisition of writing skills. Solar Neutrinos in 2011
Alvaro Chavarria
Physics , 2012,
Abstract: I give an overview of the recent developments in the solar neutrino field. I focus on the Borexino detector, which has uncovered the solar neutrino spectrum below 5 MeV, providing new tests and confirmation for solar neutrino oscillations. I report on the updated measurements of the 8B solar neutrino flux by water Cherenkov and organic scintillator detectors. I review the precision measurement of the 7Be solar neutrino flux by Borexino and the search for its day-night asymmetry. I present Borexino's latest result on the study of pep and CNO neutrinos. Finally, I discuss the outstanding questions in the field and future solar neutrino experiments.
Asesorar es acompa ar
Montse Ventura
PROFESORADO , 2008,
Translation and Reliability of the Preliminary Spanish Version of the Sport Imagery Questionnaire  [PDF]
Montse C. Ruiz, Anthony P. Watt
Advances in Physical Education (APE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ape.2012.22013
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability of the preliminary Spanish version of the Sport Imagery Questionnaire (SIQ). The SIQ was developed to examine five cognitive and motivational functions of imagery use. Participants were 81 athletes competing in soccer (n = 43) and roller skating (n = 38), ranging in age from 14 to 29 years (M = 18.10, SD = 3.16). Reliability was evaluated through internal consistency analyses of the scale. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were high indicating that the scale is a reliable instrument for the measurement of imagery use in Spanish athletes. Further psychometric research should now examine factor structure and imagery use across competitive level and type of sport in a larger sample of Spanish athletes.
Strongyloides stercoralis: Un parásito subestimado
HERNANDEZ-CHAVARRIA,FRANCISCO;
Parasitología al día , 2001, DOI: 10.4067/S0716-07202001000100008
Abstract: the observation of strongyloides stercoralis larvae in the feces of infected patients still constitutes the most frequent diagnosis method for this parasite; nevertheless, these larvae are excreted in low number and not daily. for this reason, their visualization require the analysis of at least 5 to 7 samples collected in consecutive days and processed using methods such as the baermann method (bm) or agar plate culture (apc). if these methodologies are not used the prevalence of s. stercoralis is under estimated. an example of that under estimation, is the prevalence reported for costa rica, because in the majority of surveys of intestinal parasites do not included bm nor acp and reported a frequency less than 0.5% for s. stercoralis. however when those methods are used its prevalence is higher: 1% in patients with aids, 5.7% in alcoholics, and 2% in older persons. the failure to diagnose this parasitosis is reflected in the frequent reports of fatal cases associated with hiperinfections, brought about by corticosteroid therapy. the similarity between corticosteroids and an ecdisis hormone of the parasite, which promotes maturation of infective larva in the intestine of the patient, is a possible explanation for this association. the frequent reports of fatal cases due to s. stercoralis underscores the need to include methods such as bm or acp in the diagnosis of this parasite
Strongyloides stercoralis: Un parásito subestimado Strongyloides stercoralis: AN UNDERESTIMATED PARASITE
FRANCISCO HERNANDEZ-CHAVARRIA
The observation of Strongyloides stercoralis larvae in the feces of infected patients still constitutes the most frequent diagnosis method for this parasite; nevertheless, these larvae are excreted in low number and not daily. Comunidades de Marca: otra manera de sostener conversaciones y generar Relaciones Públicas.- Brand Communities: another way to generate conversations and Public Relations
Mariela Perez Chavarria
