Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761998000200010
Abstract: an eletrophoretic analysis of three species of the subgenus dendromyia (wyeomyia luteoventralis, wy. ypsipola and wy. testei) and three species belonging to different groups in the genus wyeomyia (wy. negrensis, wy. mystes and wy.confusa) was performed. eight enzyme loci were analyzed. high values of genetic identity were detected among the species of the subgenus dendromyia: wy. luteoventralis, wy. ypsipola and wy. testei (mean value 0.63). on the other hand low values of genetic identity were observed among wy. negrensis, wy. mystes and wy. confusa (mean value 0.23), suggesting that they belong, at least, to distinct subgenera within the genus wyeomyia. the upgma phenogram revealed the grouping of the dendromyia species, while the others clustered at lower identity levels.

A Novel Approach for Inferring the Proportion of Terrestrial Organic Matter Input to Marine Sediments on the Basis of TOC:TN and δ13Corg Signatures  [PDF]
Antonio Fernando Menezes Freire, Marcelo Costa Monteiro
Open Journal of Marine Science (OJMS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojms.2013.32009
Abstract:

The ratio of total organic carbon to total nitrogen (TOC:TN) and the stable carbon isotope ratio of organic matter (δ13Corg) are widely applied for inferring the origin of organic matter (OM) in Quaternary marine sediments. A plot of TOC:TN vs. δ13Corg is useful for such studies but is strongly based on qualitative constraints. This study is based on the qualitative characterization of the source of Quaternary OM via analysis of TOC:TN and δ13Corg signatures, but also proposes a probability parameter, which combines both signatures, to infer the amount of Terrestrial OM Input (TOMI). This index provides a method for quantifying the proportion of terrestrial OM vs. marine OMin a more comprehensive manner. The TOMI index concept was applied to a study area in theJoetsuBasin, eastern margin of theJapanSea, where previous studies have characterized theOMfrom the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) to the present. The upwards increase in TOC indicates thatOMproduction during the Holocene was higher than during the LGM. The enriched δ13Corg signature upwards and decrease in TOC:TN suggest predominantly marine phytoplankton OM during the Holocene. Throughout the LGM, low OM production with depleted δ13C

Abstract: the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of tannery sludge associated with fosforita (rock phosphate) on the availability of phosphorus and correction of soil, leaf levels and maize yield. the experiment was conducted on the field during twelve months (october 2005 to october 2006) with the incorporation of 2.5 and 5.0 mg ha-1 of tannery sludge (natural and composted) and 100 kg of p2o5 ha-1 in the form of soluble and natural phosphate (fosforita). during the months of november 2005 to april 2006, maize was grown in the experimental area. treatment with tannery sludge naturally, at a dose of 5.0 mg ha-1 associated with fosforita, incremented the levels of phosphorus, calcium and base saturation in the soil for 360 days after implementation. this treatment provided increases in levels of phosphorus in the leaves of maize. the composted tannery sludge treatment, compared to natural tannery sludge, was deficient in the absorption of phosphorus by maize and soil correction. increased yield of maize was verified by the incorporation of fosforita associated with the natural and composted tannery sludge at a dose of 5.0 mg ha-1.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of tannery sludge associated with fosforita (rock phosphate) on the availability of phosphorus and correction of soil, leaf levels and maize yield.
Many challenges have been thrown to Psychology in the contemporary world. About them, we hope Psychology can understand the new imaginary configuration, which an ordinary subjective perspective isn't able to achieve. In this moment, subjects related to culture and ethnic factors have emerged strongly in Brazil. The recognition of Afro-brazilian's culture is an obrigatory way to psychological knowledge. For that it is to deal with necessary new theoretical concepts - like 'cultural unconscious' - to make more effective the participation of Psychology in these discussions.
