Self-Assessment of Organization’s Performance with Regard to Enablers Criteria Excellence Model (EFQM)

Abstract: The main purpose of the present study is to assess a hospital's Performance assessment with regard to EFQM model and then determining the relationship between enablers’ criteria and Organizational model of excellence with hospital's Performance. To collect data a standard questionnaire of Performance assessment and one questionnaires of relationship assessment for enablers criteria with Organizational Performance. For self-assessment performance, Radar logic and for hypothesis testing, Pearson correlation coefficient, factor analysis and T-test was employed. The results showed that all research hypotheses were accepted and there was a significant relationship between hospital's Performance and enablers’ criteria EFQM model. The priority of effectiveness of Enablers criteria on hospital's performance are as follows: processes criteria, partners and resources, leadership, People, policies and strategies.
SELF- ASSESSMENT WITH REGARD TO EFQM MODEL AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ITS CRITERIA AND ORGANIZATION'S PERFORMANCE

Abstract: The main purpose of the present study is to assess a hospital's Performance assessment with regard to EFQM model and then determining the relationship between nine criteria and Organizational model of excellence with hospital's Performance. The research method was Survey –Correlation and the selected sample included all managers and 203 employees were selected. To collect data a standard questionnaire of Performance assessment, and two questionnaires of relationship assessment one for Enablers criteria and another for results` criteria with Organizational Performance. For self- assessment performance, Radar logic and for hypothesis testing, Pearson correlation coefficient, factor analysis, and T-test was employed. Research Findings show that the received points regarding self- assessment of the hospital's performance(from 1000 points) was 562.2(Enablers criteria= 319.2 and results` criteria= 243) respectively, from among them, people criterion received the highest(%69.1) and Society's criterion received the lowest(%36). So the results showed that all research hypotheses were accepted and there was a significant relationship between hospital's Performance and nine criteria EFQM model. The priority of effectiveness of Enablers criteria on hospital's performance are as follows: processes criteria, partners and resources, leadership, People, policies and strategies and results` criteria includes: people results, Key performance results, customers and society results.
ASSESSMENT OF EFFECT OF EMPOWERMENT ON EMPLOYEES PERFORMANCE

Abstract: The main purpose of this paper is to determining the effect of Empowerment implementation by considering the three factors of delegation, implementation of participating management, encouragement and giving reward and also determination of classification of priority and importance of effect of each factor with employee’s performance improvement in Golestan Telecommunication Company in Iran. The research method has been descriptive and causal comparative and statistical sample under study was 226 people in order to collecteddata, two questionnaires and existing documents about rate of employee performance were used in two periods of time before and after Empowerment implementation. The tools validity with Content method and their Reliability by Cornbach method coefficients 0.98, 0.95 has been confirmed. In order to analyze the data, Spearman correlation method, Wilcoxon tests method, and multiple regressions, were used. Findings showedthat there is significant difference between rate of employee’s performance before and after Empowerment implementing, by the way Empowerment implementing emphasizing the factors, delegation, participating management and encouragement and giving reward cause employee’s performance to improve.
A Comparison of ANN and HSPF Models for Runoff Simulation in Balkhichai River Watershed, Iran  [PDF]

Abstract: In this study, the capability of two different types of models including Hydrological Simulation Program-Fortran (HSPF) as a process-based model and ANN as a data-driven model in simulating runoff was evaluated. The considered area is the Balkhichai River watershed in northwest of Iran. HSPF is a semi-distributed deterministic, continuous and physically-based model that can simulate the hydrologic cycle, associated water quality and quantity and process on pervious and impervious land surfaces and streams. Artificial neural network (ANN) is probably the most successful learning machine technique with flexible mathematical structure which is capable of identifying complex non-linear relationships between input and output data without attempting to reach the understanding of the nature of the phenomena. Statistical approach depending on cross-, auto- and partial-autocorrelation of the observed data is used as a good alternative to the trial and error method in identifying model inputs. The performances of ANN and HSPF models in calibration and validation stages are compared with the observed runoff values in order to identify the best fit forecasting model based upon a number of selected performance criteria. Results of runoff simulation indicated that the simulated runoff by ANN was generally closer to the observed values than those predicted by HSPF.

Abstract:

Black microcolonial fungi and black yeasts are inhabitants of extreme environments like vulcanic, desert and polar regions, where they are exposed to enhanced temperature alterations and desiccation. They have developed, therefore, extraordinary biologic characteristics which are mainly based on the expression of proteins, however, these are rarely studied and known. The review article presented here is focused on the obstacles and solutions for the proteomic analyses of this very particular fungal species.

Report of 23 cases of choledochal cyst from two hospitals, Mofid and Taleghani in Tehran (1986-2004)

Abstract: Background: Choledochal cyst is a congenital disorder of biliary tract. It is rare in western but more common in Asian countries. Most studies have been case reports but in this study for assessment of surgical method of treatment and late complications, patients were followed for 18 years. Methods: This retrospective study was done based on 23 patients profiles with diagnosis of choledochal cyst who have been admitted in two hospitals, Mofid and Taleghani in Tehran during 1986-2004. Diagnosis was based on imaging and intraoperative findings variables for assessment were age, sex, cyst type, clinical picture and surgical method of treatment.Results: 70% of cases were female. Type I (sacular and fusiform, 74%) was the most common type, 70% of cases were between 1-5 years old, sonography was the most common imaging technic, that used for diagnosis (100% of cases), Icter was the most common clinical picture found in 70% of cases, surgical procedures and method in 70% of cases was standard and 30% of patients underwent palliative procedures.Conclusion: Although this study shows similarity in age, sex, common type, diagnostic and treatment methods with another centers and countries, but it shows necessity of surgeon’s encouragement to use standard surgical method for decreasing late complications of disease.
Studying Thermoelectric Power Behaviors of Bi2Te3 Nanoparticles Prepared by Thermal Evaporation  [PDF]

Abstract: Thin films of Bismuth Telluride (Bi2Te3) are prepared by thermal evaporation from nanopowders on the glass substrates. The XRD patterns of films show that all the films are polycrystalline and the crystalline increased by annealing temperature. Measuring of the thermoelectric power of thin films in the temperature range 300 to 380 K shows that Seebeck Coefficients have both negative and positive values, indicating that the films have both n-type and p-type conductivity. The re-crystallization of films is done by annealing from 130°C to 175°C and Seebeck Coefficient varied from -150 to 100 μV/K.
Deriving to an Optimum Policy for Designing the Operating Parameters of Mahshahr Gas Turbine Power Plant Using a Self Learning Pareto Strategy

Abstract: In the last decades, analyzing and optimizing the power plants based on thermodynamic laws and intelligent control techniques absorb an incremental interest of researchers. This is because deriving the efficient operating parameters for designing and optimizing the performance of power plants will lead to an acceptable investment and avoiding from discarding the energy. However, there are a few areas of application of mathematical optimization method. Optimizing the governing equations and designing parameters of power plants simultaneously leads to a multi-objective problem in industry. Some of these objectives are nonlinear, non-convex and multi-modal with different type of real life engineering constraints. In this paper a new method called Synchronous Parallel Shuffling Self Organized Pareto Strategy Algorithm (SPSSOPSA) is presented which synthesized evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence techniques and Time Adaptive Self Organizing Map(TASOM) simultaneously incorporating with a data shuffling behavior. Thereafter it will be applied to verifying the optimum decision making for parameter designing of Mahshahr power plant that produced about 117MW electricity, sited in Iran, as a multi-objective and multi-modal problem. The results show the deep relation of the unit cost on the change of the operating parameters. Sequential Competitive Facility Location Problem in a Discrete Planar Space

Abstract: In this paper, there are two competitors in a planar market. The first competitor, called, the leader, opens new facilities. After that, the second competitor, the follower, reacts to the leader’s action and opens r new facilities. The leader and the follower have got some facilities in advance in this market. The optimal locations for leader and follower are chosen among predefined candidate locations. In this paper, it is assumed that the demand is inelastic. Considering the huff model, customers share their demand among all facilities, probabilistically. The leader’s objective function is the maximization of its market share after the follower’s new facilities entry. The leader and follower problems are solved via an exact solution method. THE STUDY OF BARRIERS TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN MEN AND WOMEN

Abstract: The present study aims to investigate the barriers to individual entrepreneurship as well as comparing them in men and women population. This study was applied, correlation-survey method. Using field method, the data are collected from 113 men entrepreneurs and 65 women entrepreneurs. One questionnaire whose validity and reliability is verified by content and Cranach’s methods is also used to collect the research data. To analyze the data, T-test and ANOVA are used. The results indicated that there is a meaningful difference between individual and environmental barriers to entrepreneurship and order of effectiveness of barriers in men and women.
