Journal of Jahrom University of Medical Sciences , 2011,
Abstract: Introduction:Polycystic ovarian (pco) syndrome is one of the most prevalent (4-8%) endocrine glands disorders among women15-45 years old. In women with polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos), increased blood pressure and abnormal androgen are prevalent. In addition to the patients, their first degree relatives are exposed to some risk factors such as hypertension and hyperandrogenemia. Due to the high prevalence of pcos among women and its outcomes among their first degree relatives, it is necessary to recognize the high risk people. This study was conducted to survey hypertension and hyperandrogenemia in the first degree relatives of patients with polycystic ovarian syndromeMaterial and Methods:This is a case-control study in which 107 individuals as case group and 107 individuals as control group were selected from among the first degree relatives of women with polycystic ovarian syndrome in 2008. The participants filled in a questionnaire on demographics. Then their blood pressure was measured and blood samples were taken from all the participants in order to assay their serum androgens. After performing biochemical tests, data were gathered and analyzed by Chi square and Kapa tests with 95% confidence intervals and alpha coefficients 0.05. Results:The mean of the total androgens and high level blood pressure of the control group were much different from those of the case group (P<0.05).Conclusion:The first degree relatives of women suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome are probably exposed to abnormal blood pressure and hyperandrogenemia.

Open Journal of Ecology (OJE) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/oje.2016.66028
Abstract: The related issues to trade liberalization and its impact on the environmental quality have become important since late 1996. The previous studies have shown that there has not been consensus among the economists in this field. Paper is analyzing the effect of inter-industrial trade on the Iran’s air pollution. Also in this paper, the pollution haven hypothesis is tested in Iran. To study the effect of inter-industrial trade on the environment in two ways: 1) direct effect on the environment and 2) an indirect effect through growth and the effect of growth on the environment were examined. The model has been estimated by using the panel data method for Iran’s various industrial sectors over 1980-2014. The results show that inter-industrial trade has positive effect on Iran’s air pollution. Also, pollution haven hypothesis is valid in Iran.

Abstract: Natural resources and its condition have always had a key role in economic and social developments of different societies around the world and these resources are considered as natural capital and bankroll of economic growth and development for every country. In the present study, we have evaluated the outdoor recreational value of Lavizan Jungle Park of Tehran and its visitors’ willingness to pay per visit (WTP) by using Contingent Valuation method (CV) and two-dimensional choice questionnaires. We used 125 questionnaires and logit model in order to evaluate the WTP. The purpose of this study is to measure individuals’ willingness to pay for visiting and preserving the environment of Lavizan Park as well as indicating the relationship between influential factors on their WTP. Estimating the value of natural resources is very important in making environmental preservation policies because preserving these natural attractions, as a part of ecotourism, is highly important. Pakistan Journal of Nutrition , 2005,
Abstract: To investigate the prevalence of overweight and obesity based on Body Mass Index (BMI) values among children in Tehran. Cross-sectional survey of a randomized sample of school aged children in Tehran. A total of 3104 boys and girls in 3 aged groups with mean age 6, 8 and 10 years. The data consisted of parents-reported measures of height and weight that were obtained from questionnaires, and then BMI [weight (kg) / height (m)2] was calculated. The prevalence of overweight and obesity was higher than expected as related to recent Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) growth charts in comparison to a recent International Obesity Task Force (IOTF) approach. These differences were higher among Iranian girls than boys. While obesity prevalence might not be important as a definition of IOTF and CDC, but rapid increases of obesity in recent years are potentially dangerous. International authorities should accelerate the efforts regarding construction a global BMI reference data, based on obesity definition in developing countries.

Seyed Mohamad Hosein Mosavi Jazayeri,Reza Amani
Pakistan Journal of Nutrition , 2004,
Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the nutritional knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) of male and female bodybuilding trainers in Ahwaz, one of the 7 major cities of Iran. KAP questionnaires which contained information about nutrients, food groups, using of supplements and ergogenic aids, were completed by trainers. Sixty three certified male bodybuilding trainers (37.9 2.7 y) and 30 certified female trainers (37.3 8.1 y) were recruited from all clubs of the city. All of the male and 47% of the female trainers have prescribed diet program for their trainees (P<0.001) and it showed that there was a significant (P<0.001) relationship between their diet prescription and their educational degrees. None of the female trainers neither use nor advise anabolic hormones such as Nandrolon; however 62% of the male trainers have advised hormones to their trainees while only 50% of them use hormones themselves. 96.8% of the trainers did not know that minerals and 88.2% did not know water are essential nutrients; and more than 90% did not realize that fat and sugars are as food groups. The training courses and educational levels of trainers are positively related to their practices. All of the trainers need more theoretical and applied nutritional education.

International Journal of Artificial Intelligence & Applications , 2012,
Abstract: QUANTUM EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHM (QEA) IS A NOVEL OPTIMIZATION ALGORITHM, PROPOSED FORCOMBINATORIAL PROBLEMS LIKE KNAPSACK AND TRAP PROBLEMS. WHILE FRACTAL IMAGE COMPRESSION IS INTHE CLASS OF NP-HARD PROBLEMS AND QEA IS HIGHLY SUITABLE FOR THE CLASS OF COMBINATORIALPROBLEMS, QEA IS NOT WIDELY USED IN FRACTAL IMAGE COMPRESSION YET. IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THEPERFORMANCE OF FRACTAL IMAGE COMPRESSION ALGORITHMS, THIS PAPER PROPOSES A DISTRIBUTED QEAWITH A NOVEL OPERATOR CALLED CYCLING QUANTUM EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHM. IN STANDARD QEA THEDIVERSITY IN THE POPULATION DECREASES ACROSS THE GENERATIONS. DECREASING THE DIVERSITY OF THEPOPULATION DECREASES THE EXPLORATION PERFORMANCE OF THE ALGORITHM AND CAUSES THE ALGORITHMTRAPPING IN THE LOCAL OPTIMA. IN THE PROPOSED ALGORITHM, THERE ARE SOME SUBPOPULATIONS SEARCHINGTHE SEARCH SPACE. AFTER THE SUBPOPULATIONS ARE TRAPPED IN A LOCAL OPTIMUM, THE BEST OBSERVEDPOSSIBLE SOLUTIONS IN THE SUBPOPULATIONS ARE EXCHANGED IN A CYCLIC MANNER. THE PROPOSEDALGORITHM IS USED IN FRACTAL IMAGE COMPRESSION AND EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ON SEVERAL IMAGES SHOWBETTER PERFORMANCE FOR THE PROPOSED ALGORITHM THAN GENETIC ALGORITHMS AND QEA. IN COMPARISONWITH CONVENTIONAL FRACTAL IMAGE COMPRESSION, THE PROPOSED ALGORITHM FINDS A SUITABLE SOLUTIONWITH MUCH LESS COMPUTATIONAL COMPLEXITY

Journal of Lasers in Medical Sciences , 2011,
Abstract: INTRODUCTION: Tooth pain and sensitization are the two main causes of discomfort after periodontal flap surgery. Effects of low level laser therapy for reducing pain have already been established; these kinds of lasers have been used for tooth desensitization as well. This controlled blind study sought to compare tooth pain and sensitization after 660nm laser irradiation in a split mouth and also in a control group after periodontal flap surgery. METHODS: Forty patients were enrolled in this study. In these entire patients periodontal flap surgery was done in the upper anterior segment. In the test group, by tossing of a coin the left or right side was determined for laser irradiation, so central incisor, lateral incisor and canine were irradiated by swiping motion of 660nm laser (AZOR, Russia) 25mW, 4.5 J, and 3 min every other day starting one day after surgery; and in collateral segment a placebo probe was put to blind the patients. In the control group, dressing was used after surgery. One, 3, 5 and 7 days after surgery for both groups visual analog score (VAS) for tooth pain and sensitization were recorded for both sides in each patient. RESULTS: In the laser group, both sides had lower VAS for pain than the control group (P< 0.05) after the first day. There was no statistical difference in the laser group between laser irradiated, or non-irradiated segment and for sensitization between groups. CONCLUSION: Pain can be reduced after periodontal surgery by using low level 660nm laser therapy. Lower pain in both sides in the laser group may be the result of the spread of mediators and neurotransmitters secreted after laser irradiation, or may be because of scattered radiation in the collateral part.

Journal of Dental Medicine , 2013,
Abstract: Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sealing ability of different thicknesses of orthograde MTA plugs in comparison with 5 mm gutta-percha.Materials and Methods: Fifty extracted single rooted human teeth were collected. After root canal preparation, the samples were randomly divided into 4 experimental (n=10) and two control groups (n=5). In group 1, the apical 5 mm of the canals were obturated using laterally condensed gutta-percha and sealer AH26. Groups 2, 3and 4 received 2, 3 and 4-mm thick orthograde MTA plug, respectively. Thereafter, the coronal portion of specimens was exposed to the microbial solution containing streptococcus sanguis and the root tips were placed in phenol red lactose broth. The color changes were observed within 60 days. The data were analyzed with Fisher exact test. Results: The leakage was found in all samples (100%) in group 1 and 72.7%, 30.8% and 50% of the samples in groups 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Significant difference was found between 3 mm thickness of MTA plug and gutta percha and sealer (P=0.02).Conclusion: According to the findings, it seems that 3 mm thickness of orthograde MTA plug had better sealing ability than the other thicknesses of MTA plug as well as the 5 mm of gutta-percha.

Iranian Journal of Radiology , 2011,
Abstract: Background/Objective: Obstruction of solitary"nkidney is a serious problem because it usually leads"nto elevation of serum creatinin. Tests using iodinated"ncontrast materials are contraindicated. Doppler"nultrasound (DU) with measurement of the renal"nresistive index (RI) is useful in this regard. Obstruction"nleads to changes in the hemodynamics of the kidney"nwith increase in the RI."nPatients and Methods: The study included 41 healthy"nlive kidney donors. There were 38 males and three"nfemales with a mean age of 30 years. DU of the two"nkidneys was done the day before nephrectomy with"nmeasurement of the RI of each kidney in three levels"n(main, interlobar and interlobular). After nephrectomy,"nthe RI of the remaining kidney was measured on days"n7 and 90. The mean RI of the remaining kidney before"nnephrectomy was compared with values at different"ntime points after nephrectomy."nResults: The left kidney was selected for nephrectomy"nin 35 donors and the right one was used in the"nremaining six. There was difference between the mean"nRI of the right and left kidneys before nephrectomy"nin the interlobar and interlobular artery level. The"nmean RI of the remaining kidney increased 90 days"nafter nephrectomy but not at the seventh day. There"nwas no difference between the mean RI in three levels"nbefore nephrectomy and on day 7. The mean RI of"nthe left remaining kidney after the right nephrectomy"n(six donors) was compared with the right remaining"nkidney after the left nephrectomy (35 donors). The"ndifference of RI was statistically signiificant only in"nthe main artery level on day 90."nKeywords: Resistive Index(RI), Live Donor"nNephrectomy, Single Kidney

Iranian Journal of Pediatrics , 2009,
Abstract: Background:The oculocerebrorenal syndrome of Lowe (OCRL) is a rare x-linked recessive disorder first described in 1952. This syndrome is characterized by ocular involvement, mental retardation and kidney disease. The causative gene is OCRL1. Survival rarely exceeds 40 years. Case Presentation:A 13-year-old boy was referred because of short stature. In physical examination his height was 108.2 cm. He had poor growth, psychomotor retardation, severe hypotonia, congenital cataract which was operated on earlier in life, searching nystagmus, anti social behavior and used foul language. He had been on treatment for renal tubular acidosis (Fanconi syndrome) since 8 month of age. Conclusion:The possibility of OCRL should be considered in boys with cataracts and glumerolar disease. As the condition can be diagnosed in first months of life, early treatment can prevent patients from various complications.
