Del arte dramático al arte poético: Técnicas para la lectura en inglés
Mendoza,Mirna;
Revista de Pedagogía , 2009,
Abstract: the differences between poetry and prose require distinct analytical approaches. this work compares the effectiveness of traditional or classic teaching techniques with the use of dramatization to improve reading comprehension of poetry among students of english as a foreign language. the current study is of the pre-experimental type, in which we determined the effectiveness of the aforementioned techniques in the comprehension of poetic texts in english by sixteen students of english literature at the national experimental university ?francisco de miranda? in falcon state, venezuela. data was collected through an initial diagnostic test followed by the application of the techniques before giving two post-tests. the results indicate that on comparing the levels of reading comprehension through the statistical test ?t? of student, a significant difference emerged (.000 less than 0.05) in favor of the dramatization technique with regard its effectiveness in comparison with the level of comprehension registered in the diagnostic test. on the other hand, the use of more traditional methods did not produce any significant statistical variation (.144 greater than 0.05). to achieve significant, cooperative and enjoyable learning, we thus recommend the use of dramatization in the classroom so that students may effectively comprehend poetic texts.
Internal audience: A key to success

University Museums and Collections Journal , 2009,
Abstract: The University of Adelaide (founded 1874) is a third oldest university in Australia. It has 23 collections that represent the wide range of its academic research across the arts and the sciences. A central challenge in utilizing these collections is the absence of a comprehensively representative museum. We have developed awareness of the university’s collections through strategic public programs of focused exhibitions, discussion forums and partnership events in a variety of locations. From 2004, the first year of Art & Heritage Collections operations, this program has enhanced key university activities while proving to be of significant interest to the general public. Our core audience at the outset was principally staff with an interest in culture. Students have been harder to entice, but we now attract a growing number – mostly higher degree candidates. The university community has thus provided an engaged audience for events. Further, university staff have come forward as volunteers within Art & Heritage Collections programs, their knowledge of the university proving to be a particular asset. The cycle of staff / audience member / volunteer has proved to be a particularly productive if unexpected aspect of our activities, significantly complementing our wider community outreach.

Diagnostic approach to peripheral solitary pulmonary lesions
?uri? Mirna
Medicinski Pregled , 2002, DOI: 10.2298/mpns0212501d
Abstract: Introduction Peripheral localization and lack of symptoms are reasons why it is difficult to establish the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions commonly of malignant nature. Therefore thoracotomy often represents a diagnostic and therapeutic method at the same time. There is a need to define an adequate and optimal diagnostic approach to these lesions in order to establish their etiology, if possible, at low costs. Material and methods This retrospective study included 50 patients with peripheral solitary pulmonary lesions (PSPL) who underwent thoracotomy at the Institute of Lung Diseases in Sremska Kamenica. In all patients both bronchoscopy and transthoracic puncture were performed prior to surgery. Having evaluated the diagnostic procedures, their proper sequence has then been applied in the prospective group of another 50 patients admitted to the Institute for similar lesions. Results In the retrospective group the etiology of PSPL was established by bronchoscopy in 4% and using transthoracic puncture in 58% of patients, with sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of 78.78%, 100% and 85.1%, respectively. In the prospective group, transthoracic puncture (TTP) provided the final diagnosis in 70% of patients, with 86.2% sensitivity, 100% specificity and 90% accuracy. Conclusion Transthoracic puncture is a method of choice in preoperative diagnostics of solitary peripheral pulmonary lesions, quite like thoracotomy in cases where applied diagnostic procedures were inefficient.
El corpus está conformado por la película The Saddest Music in the World (2003). Aquí se analiza la construcción del significado de la ironía con base en las oposiciones y semejanzas presentes en los efectos visuales y sonoros del mencionado film de este cineasta.

On $D$-spaces and Discrete Families of Sets
Mirna Dzamonja
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: We prove several reflection theorems on $D$-spaces, which are Hausdorff topological spaces $X$ in which for every open neighbourhood assignment $U$ there is a closed discrete subspace $D$ such that \[ \bigcup\{U(x): x\in D\}=X. \] The upwards reflection theorems are obtained in the presence of a forcing axiom, while most of the downwards reflection results use large cardinal assumptions. The combinatorial content of arguments showing that a given space is a $D$-space, can be formulated using the concept of discrete families. We note the connection between non-reflection arguments involving discrete families and the well known question of the existence of families allowing partial transversals without having a transversal themselves, and use it to give non-trivial instances of the incompactness phenomenon in the context of discretisations.

Prato,Ana; Mendoza,Mirna;
Enlace , 2006,
Abstract: the goal of this research was to determine what is the level of knowledge, use and opinion of high school english teachers, regarding web pages. the research was non experimental and descriptive. we applied a survey to the teachers of english as a foreign language, looking forward to contrast the level of interpretational analysis among teachers. the results reveal that the vast majority of those surveyed prove to have minimal requires knowledge, using web pages, as a mean to improve english teaching, displaying a favorable attitude with high acceptance in the incorporation of web pages to the educational process.

Abstract: the present work make a reflextion on the treatment they received religious spaces in the interior latin american colonial - xvi to xviii centuries -. we report the identification, selection, comparison and analysis of different aspects that constitute the specific colonial america. the analysis takes into account not only architectural and morphological features, but also social and historical icons, which allow a more complete picture of the solutions used in the interior design of these spaces.
