Abstract: [English]Entre os diversos projetos de pesquisa e extens o do Núcleo de Estudos Afro–Brasileiros - NEAB -da Universidade para o Desenvolvimento do Estado de Santa Catarina, está a Biblioteca de Referência do NEAB, que reúne livros, disserta es, vídeos e documentos relacionados aos aspectos históricos, culturais, sócio-econ micos e educacionais dos afro-descendentes e indígenas - especialmente Guaranis - em seu acervo. O objetivo é ser instrumento para estudos, pesquisas e dissemina o da informa o, com o intuito de facilitar o acesso a tal temática, para incrementar as suas atividades científicas e estimular, assim, a produ o do conhecimento através do fornecimento das informa es relevantes sobre a quest o. [Portuguese]Among the number of research projects and extension of the Nucleus of Afro-Brazilian Studies - NEAB - of the University for Development of the State of Santa Catarina, is the Reference Library of NEAB, which gathers books, dissertations, videos and historical documents aspects related to historical, cultural, socio-economic and educational of african-descendants and indigenous peoples - especially Guaranis-in its collection. Abstract: the natural brazilian clays f-101, f-117 and kaolin were characterized by chemical and textural analysis, xrd, and 27al and 29si mas-nmr. the f-101 clay is a smectite, while f-117 is an interstratified structure with smectite, kaolinite and mica as clay-minerals. kaolin is mainly kaolinite. f-101 and f-117 clays were more efficient catalysts for the coiodination of styrene and cyclohexene with water and alcohols to produce iodohydrins and b-iodoethers, respectively, than the kaolin and montmorillonite k-10 clay.

Abstract: burning mouth syndrome (bms) is a chronic condition characterized by burning sensation on a clinic normal oral mucosa. bms is not a rare condition, however, mechanisms involved in their development remains poorly understood. the aim of this paper was to carry out a review of literature about this syndrome, highlighting the main etiological factors as an approach to the management of this condition.

Abstract: this is the first report of the isolation and identification of the rabies virus in the frugivorous bat artibeus fimbriatus in the city of sao josé do rio preto, sao paulo state, brazil. the virus was isolated from an animal found in an urban area. the animal was found on the ground under a tree, still alive. diagnosis was made by direct immunofluorescence and intracerebral inoculation of mice.

Abstract: introduction: fetal calf serum (fcs) is commonly used as a supplement in the culture medium for fibroblast cells. this supplementation is far from ideal as sample quality varies from batch to batch and the composition of fcs is not completely known. in addition, fcs may be contaminated with viruses and/or prions and may also cause adverse immunologic responses in humans. due to these facts, a worldwide effort is being made to find alternatives for xenobiotic elements in cell cultures. human serum could be a safer alternative, especially for clinical application. methods: we investigated human serum as a substitute for fcs in human fibroblast culture. fresh human serum was obtained from 10 healthy volunteers. fibroblasts were cultivated in multiwell plates containing either dulbecco's modified eagle's medium (dmem) plus 10% fcs (d10) or dmem plus 10% human serum (d10h). cell counts were obtained between 24 and 264 hours of cultivation; results were expressed as the mean number of cells a± standard error of the mean to create cell proliferation curves. results: there was no statistical difference in fibroblast proliferation between the two groups. human serum supported human fibroblast growth and proliferation, suggesting that it may be a potential substitute for fcs in human cell culture. cells cultivated with human serum presented a different morphology, appearing smaller and more rounded as compared to cells cultivated in d10. conclusions: these results demonstrate that human serum can be substituted for fcs in human fibroblasts culture and that fibroblasts cultivated in the presence of human serum have a morphology that is similar to in vivo fibroblasts.

Abstract: Este estudo é parte da pesquisa realizada sobre a avalia o do processo de implementa o da política de autonomia escolar - proposta da reforma educativa implantada nas escolas estaduais de Minas Gerais - período de 1991 a 1998. Entre outros objetivos, tal estudo analisou a implementa o de medidas no sentido de se efetivar a política de autonomia escolar articulada a outras prioridades, assim identificadas: fortalecimento da dire o da escola, aperfei oamento e capacita o dos funcionários, avalia o do sistema educacional e integra o com os municípios. Por último, analisa os projetos e subprojetos do Programa Qualidade na Educa o Básica de Minas Gerias, eixo principal desta política. This study is part of the research accomplished about the evoluation of the process of implementation of the politics school autonomy - proposal of the educational reform implanted in the state schools of Minas Gerais - period from 1991 to 1998. Among other objectives, such a study analyzed the implementation of measures in the sense to carry out the politics of articulate school autonomy to other priorities, like this identified: invigoration of the direction of the school, improvement and the employees training, evaluation of the educational system and integration with the municipal districts. Last, it analyzes the projects and subprojects of the Programa Qualidade na Educa o Básica de Minas Gerais, main axis of this politics. Abstract: this study is a result of undergraduate student participation in the environmental chemistry discipline provided by the chemistry institute/ufba. the students were involved in the development of passive samplers, a project of the laquam (environmental analytical chemistry laboratory). the students' residences and other neighborhoods were used to create a passive sampling network, allowing the measurement of atmospheric levels of pollutants in urban areas and in those under industrial influence. the assembly of the passive samplers, including impregnation of filters and chemical analysis were part of the students' practice tasks. the results were analyzed taking into consideration the brazilian legislation.

Abstract: Neste trabalho pretende-se tratar da educa o pré-colonial, educa o colonial e educa o durante a luta de liberta o nacional da Guiné-Bissau. Antes da domina o colonial na Guiné-Bissau, n o havia institui o escolar tal como existe hoje. Portanto, a educa o consistia em aquisi o de conhecimentos e normas de comportamento como em qualquer sociedade. A ausência das institui es escolares na sociedade guineense tradicional n o significava a inexistência de ensino-aprendizagem, porque se tratava de uma cultura oral, que foi sobreposta pela cultura escrita européia. Neste trabajo pretiende si tratar de la educación pré-colonial, educación colonial e educación duranti la lucha de libartación naciaonal de Guine-Bissau. Antes de la dominación colonial na Guine-Bissau, no habia institución escolar como hay. Portanto, la educación consistia en aquisición de conocimientos y normas de comportamiento como en qualquiera sociedad. La ausencia de las institucines escolares na sociedad guineense tradicional no significaba la inexistencia de ensino-apredizaje, porque se trataba de una cultura oral que hay sobreposta pela cultura escrita europea.
