Determination of lisinopril in pharmaceuticals by a kinetic spectrophotometric method
?akar Mira,Popovi? Gordana
Journal of the Serbian Chemical Society , 2012, DOI: 10.2298/jsc120131079c
Abstract: A kinetic spectrophotometric method for determination of lisinopril in pharmaceuticals has been developed. The method is based on activator action of lisinopril on Cu(II) ions catalysing the oxidation of nile blue A with hydrogen peroxide in borate buffer (pH 9.3). A decrease of the absorbance was recorded at 635 nm for 5 min at 25°C. The linearity was established applying the tangent method within the concentration range of lisinopril from 0.8-6.4 μg mL-1, the detection and quantification limits being 0.158 μg mL-1 and 0.480 μg mL-1, respectively. The method has been successfully applied in three brands of tablets containing lisinopril alone or in combination with hydrochlorothiazide.

Medicinski Pregled , 2012, DOI: 10.2298/mpns1212503s
Abstract: Introduction. The aim of the study was to analyze the prevalence of diabetic ketoacidosis during the period of 10 years (1999-2008) among children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in Montenegro. Material and Methods. A retrospective population-based incidence study was performed. The study participants were selected from two independent sources: the diabetes register and hospital records. The following parameters were measured before the first insulin injection: plasma glucose, blood gas analysis, electrolytes, creatinine, insulin, c-peptide, and HbA1c. Diabetic ketoacidosis was defined as pH <7.3 and severe diabetic ketoacidosis as pH <7.1. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS for Windows (version 17). Results. During the study period, 208 children <15 years of age (107 boys and 101 girls) were found to have newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes. The age- and sex-standardized incidence rate was 15.8/100,000 children/yr. Of these, 51 (24.5%) presented with diabetic ketoacidosis at the time of diagnosis and 8 (3.8%) had a severe form, and no one died. In children <5 years the prevalence was 30.4%. We found no statistically important correlation between diabetic ketoacidosis incidence, pH value and the age of children (p>0.05). There was also no significant difference in diabetic ketoacidosis incidence between the boys and girls (p>0.05). Conclusion. The frequency of diabetic ketoacidosis in children with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes in Montenegro is still high with a trend to decrease in the last ten years. In particular, children under 5 years of age are at a high risk of developing diabetic ketoacidosis at the onset.
Binding of coenzymes to yeast alcohol dehydrogenase
Journal of the Serbian Chemical Society , 2010,
Abstract: In this work, the binding of coenzymes to yeast alcohol dehydrogenase (EC were investigated. The main criterions were the change in the standard free energies for individual reaction steps, the internal equilibrium constants and the overall changes in the reaction free energies. The calculations were performed for the wild type enzyme at pH 6–9 and for 15 different mutant type enzymes, with single or double point mutations, at pH 7.3. The abundance of theoretical and experimental data enabled the binding of coenzymes to enzyme to be assessed in depth.

Molecules , 2010, DOI: 10.3390/molecules15074564
Abstract: In this study the effects of an aqueous suspension of a commercial preparation of the mushroom Coprinus comatus on oxidative stress induced in rats by alloxane and carbon tetrachloride was examined. The effects were estimated from changes in the biochemical parameters (xanthine oxidase, glutathione peroxidase and catalase activity, reduced glutathione content, and extent of lipid peroxidation) of liver homogenate as well as histological changes in the liver of the rats treated with alloxane and carbon tetrachloride. Two screening doses of alloxane sufficient to induce diabetes in rats did not have any significant effect on the examined biochemical parameters of liver homogenate or on the cytoarchitectonics of liver cross-sections. Treatment with carbon tetrachloride resulted in a significant increase in the intensity of lipid peroxidation and peroxydasis activity, as well as with decrease in catalase activity. Certain changes in liver cross sections were detected, such is lymphocyte infiltration of dilated sinusoid capillaries. Administration of Coprinus comatus suspension thus showed antioxidative potential, evidenced by an increase of antioxidative status of liver homogenate and prevention of histological changes in liver cross sections.
Dilemmas and Controversies in the Interpretation of Laboratory Results

Journal of Medical Biochemistry , 2008, DOI: 10.2478/v10011-008-0006-3
Abstract: Concentration of many substances in blood is a good indicator of the physiologic state of a patient. It is usual that results obtained represent the real concentration of tested substances in a patient, that is, represent his physiological state. The influence of some factors indicates that this assumption is not always true. Mistakes owing to analytic factors are reduced to the least possible rate by using the quality control. Also, many nonanalytic factors can change the concentration of one or more substances in the sample, so the results obtained are not an indicator of the physiological state of the patient. Results of clinical-biochemical determination are interpreted by comparing with the reference values and so the conclusion is made by a comparison method. In order to perform this process properly, reference values for each specific parameter are necessary. Cyclic variations, physical activity, stress, and other factors significantly affect the obtained result analysis. In the interpretation of results, these specificities have to be considered, otherwise they will be interpreted as pathologic, which leads to wrong conclusions. Inadequate preparation of a patient for a certain analysis and disrespect for rules regarding preparation and sample analyzing can lead to drastic deviation of results from the real values. For those reasons there are certain dilemmas and controversies in the result interpretation.
Pareto’s optimum in models of general economic equilibrium with the asset market
Popovi? Zoran
Economic Annals , 2007, DOI: 10.2298/eka0773036p
Abstract: A model of the general economic equilibrium of sequential structures includes the asset market, where assets are instruments of sequential income redistribution. The model should explain relative prices of commodities, on one hand, and establish the asset pricing as an instrument of income redistribution, on the other, enabling the analysis of sequential income transfers. This paper mainly researches Pareto’s optimum of a defined mathematical model of the general economic equilibrium in both complete and incomplete asset markets. The existence of the latter partly disables an economic system to transfer income through time sequences properly, which results in equilibrium allocations not reaching Pareto’s optimum. .

Srpski Arhiv za Celokupno Lekarstvo , 2011, DOI: 10.2298/sarh1106353p
Abstract: Introduction. Closeness/intimacy and pornography are sometimes linked and frequently presented as competing with each other. They have been the subject of some research but many issues in the area remain controversial and indeterminate. Objective. The aim of this pilot study was to establish whether female pornography users and non-users’ ratings in terms of socio-emotional closeness differed, i.e. to examine the association between pornography use and aspects of socio-emotional closeness in a non-clinical sample of females. Methods. Sixty-six females participated in the study. Their actual and ideal socioemotional closeness was measured by the Perceived Interpersonal Closeness Scale/PICS, while their pornography use was examined by the Background and Pornography Use Information Questionnaire. Potential links between the two variables and comparisons with the relevant results obtained by males are presented. Results. The results showed that there were no significant differences between self-reported female pornography users and non-users in terms of total closeness numbers and scores and also in specific socioemotional closeness with the most significant adults in their lives (i.e., partners, closest friends, mothers and fathers). Conclusion. The results confirmed that there were differences between females and males’ approaches to pornography and closeness; females had lower interest in pornography and their use of it had not been associated with higher total closeness numbers and scores. Due to the participant group’s size (N) limitations, this sample was rather used for preliminary investigations that would enable some elementary insight into females’ relevant behaviours. Further investigations of pornography’s complex links with socio-emotional and sexual closeness on larger samples may allow more reliable comparisons between gender and pornography users groups.

Studii de Stiinta si Cultura , 2011,
Abstract: Romanian literature from Voivodina, conceived more than half century ago is a relatively young literature, but through these years from first written texts on this teritories until the following days it marked true artistic development, esteticaly and towards searching national identity. Starting with 5th decade of the last century in Yugoslav literature writers more and more use ideas of traditonalism and realism in their works. Such Romanian poetry of traditionalism writes one of the most famous writer of the last century in Voivodina, Ion Balan. Entered on line of traditionalism and autochthonism, poetry and prose 50's tried to cover the interwar literary gap and open the door again to Romanian literary word. Now we face a crossroads between the Serbian and Romanian literature. Romanian Poetry of Vojvodina uses first classical methods, traditional and a modern poetic language.
Transcultural Aspects in the Translation Process
Virginia Popovi
Studii de Stiinta si Cultura , 2012,
Abstract: This work deals with the translations of the well known Romanian literary works into Serbian language, as well as with the translations of Serbian works into Romanian language. Before nineteen sixties, Serbian literary circles were not familiar with the greatest literary works of Romanian literature. At the end of twentieth century, there were more and more translations of Romanian works, thus today, Serbian readers have a very rich collection of Romanian literature pieces translated into Serbian. Besides prose, poetry and theatre palys, Romanian literary critics and essays have been translated in recent years. This work deals with belletristic literature from its appearance in Serbia in 1940. until today.
