Age structure of the population of Vojvodina according to territory and nation

Abstract: In the inter-census period, the process of ageing of the population of Vojvodina continued, and Vojvodina is in the stage of a deep demographic old age. The average age increased from 37,7 to 39,8 years, and the index of ageing from 71,0 to 94,1. Territorially speaking, the population of Vojvodina has a homogeneous age structure. All counties are in the stage of a deep demographic old age. Somewhat more favourable age structure is present in the South-Ba ki, Sremski and South- Banatski counties. Homogeneity is also present at the municipal level. Out of 45 municipalities, 39 belong to the phase of a deep demographic old age, 5 to a demographic old age, and 1 to the deepest demographic old age, while in the 1991 census 38 municipalities belonged to the phase of a demographic old age, and 7 to the phase of a deep demographic old age.
Scientific and Professional Work of Academician Aleksandar Marin i – Contribution to the Development of Telecommunications

Abstract: On the 12th of May 2011, professor Marin i left the scenes of life but deep and indelible traces of his creative work in science and education are still present, with the significance that continues to grow everyday. Contribution of professor Marin i to the development of telecommunications and electrical engineering in general, as well as the international reputation of our scientists, is tremendous. Considering his contribution to the development of the ETRAN Society (expert sections: Antennas and Propagation – AP, Microwave Technique – MT and Telecommunications) and the establishment of the National Society for Microwave Technique, Technology and Systems, a special section devoted to his rich professional and scientific work was held at the ETRAN 2012 Conference, within the MT expert section. This work represents an introduction of the aforementioned section. Here will be given a summary of the most important results in science and education of academician Marin i , a respected professor, great scientists and a highly remarkable man.
Radical surgery of the malignantlaryngeal tumors

Abstract: Modem therapeutical protocols for treatment of T3 and T 4 malignomas of the larynx are not adjusted, because there are attempts to treat these diseases with non-operative methods (such as chemo- and radiotherapy) in order to preserve the organ. The aim of the study was to establish today's results of the surgical treatment of patients with T3 and T4 laryngeal malignoma. We studied the group of patients with laryngeal carcinoma, who had undergone total laryngectomy, during the period of eight years (1990-1997). The patients' data was submitted from medical documentation, it was filled in specially designed questionnaires and was statistically reviewed. During this eight-year-period. 1054 total laryngectomies were done. The five-years survival rate, established in the group of patients who had undergone total laryngectomiy is 308/794 (39%). In the patient group where total laryngectomy was salvage surgery after radiotherapy, the five-years survival rate is 47/172 (27%). In the patient group where total laryngectomy was salvage surgery after conservative or reconstructive surgery, the five-years survival rate is 28/84 (33%). Despite diagnostical and therapeutical achievements, prognosis for T3 and T4 malygnoma of the larynx was not significantly approved in the last few decades.

Abstract: This paper presents some applications of neural networks in the microwave modeling. The applications are related to modeling of either passive or active structures and devices. Modeling is performed using not only simple multilayer perception network (MLP) but also advanced knowledge based neural network (KBNN) structures.

Abstract: The distributions of ratios of random variables are of interest in many areas of the sciences. In this brief paper, we present the joint probability density function (PDF) and PDF of maximum of ratios and for the cases where , , , and are Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami- , and Weibull distributed random variables. Random variables and , as well as random variables and , are correlated. Ascertaining on the suitability of the Weibull distribution to describe fading in both indoor and outdoor environments, special attention is dedicated to the case of Weibull random variables. For this case, analytical expressions for the joint PDF, PDF of maximum, PDF of minimum, and product moments of arbitrary number of ratios , are obtained. Random variables in numerator, , as well as random variables in denominator, , are exponentially correlated. To the best of the authors' knowledge, analytical expressions for the PDF of minimum and product moments of are novel in the open technical literature. The proposed mathematical analysis is complemented by various numerical results. An application of presented theoretical results is illustrated with respect to performance assessment of wireless systems. 1. Introduction Radio-wave propagation through wireless channels is a complicated phenomenon characterized by fading which is the result of multipath propagation. When a received signal envelope experiences fading during transmission, it fluctuates over time. Multivariate statistics is a useful mathematical tool for modeling and analyzing wireless channels. There is a very wide range of statistical models for fading channels [1] which their accuracy and veracity depend on propagation environment and communication scenario. Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami- , and Weibull are the most frequently applied models in the open technical literature. Fading can seriously degrade performance of wireless communications systems. Techniques that can be used to minimize the degradation effects due to fading have received a great deal of research interest. Diversity combining [1], which combines two or more replicas of the received signal, is a practical and powerful technique that can be used to alleviate the detrimental effects of fading and to improve the performance of wireless communications systems without increasing transmission power and bandwidth. Space diversity [2], achieved by using multiple antennas at the receiver, is the most common form of diversity. The most popular space diversity techniques are selection combining (SC), equal-gain combining (EGC), and maximal-ratio combining (MRC).
Quality of life and results of total androgen blockade alone and with radiotherapy in the treatment of nonmetastatic prostate cancer

Abstract: Introduction. Hormonal treatment of prostate cancer (CaP) in the form of total androgen blockade (TAB) with or without radiotherapy is applied in metastatic disease and in patients with nonmetastatic and localized disease as well. Objective. The aim of the study was to compare oncological results, residual and newly developed symptoms during treatment and the quality of life in patients with nonmetastatic CaP treated by using Tand in a group treated both with Tand radiotherapy (RT+TAB). Methods. Retrospective analysis of 126 patients with nonmetastatic CaP was performed. Follow-up was 36 months. Seventynine out of 126 patients were treated with Talone and 47 with Tand radiotherapy (TAB+RT). Overall survival, metabolic syndrome appearance and the frequency of nonmalignant complications during treatment were analyzed. Urinary, digestive and sexual symptoms were analyzed, as well as the overall health condition of the patients. Results. Fatal outcome and/or disease progression occurred in 29 out of 126 patients (23%). High risk patients were significantly more frequent in the TAB+RT group (p=0.04). Mortality rate was not different in both groups indicating that better results of treatment were achieved in patients treated with TAB+RT. Metabolic syndrome appeared in 51.6% of Tpatients and in 51.1 of TAB+RT patients, and was significantly more frequent at the end of the follow-up than at the beginning of the treatment (p=0.003 in Tand p=0.01 in TAB+RT group). Urinary symptoms were more frequent than digestive symptoms in both groups. The quality of life was slightly improved after the beginning of therapy to be followed by the tendency of gradual decrease. Conclusion. Both modalities of treatment were efficient. Therapy TAB+RT was more efficient in high risk patients. Metabolic syndrome was more frequent after a long-term administration of therapy than at the beginning. The quality of life was the most affected in sexually active patients.
The crime of aggression between consensus and contestation

Abstract: The efforts to define the crime of aggression as an international crime are accompanied by many problems. Some countries see it as a sign of salvation against foreign interference in internal affairs, while others see it as a limiting factor in achieving their own interests. In the battle between consensus and contestation every victory was a Pyrrhic one and the price of any compromise was high. However, after the Review Conference of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, which was held in 2010, we have many reasons for optimism. In this paper, the author presents the historical development of the crime of aggression from the theoretical discussion to its criminalization as an international crime. It is through a critical analysis of the norms in international documents and judgments of international courts based on them that we point to all the advantages and disadvantages of defining aggression. In his conclusion, the author predicts the future of the crime of aggression, bearing in mind the latest solutions in theory and practice of international criminal law.
