Abstract: The superior vena cava (SVC) is known to be a potential source of focal atrial tachycardias. Not uncommonly these tachycardias trigger atrial fibrillation or flutter. Focal ablation is safe and effective in eliminating arrhythmogenic foci within the SVC. We present the case of a patient with focal atrial tachycardia arising from the SVC. During presumably focal ablation inadvertent electrical isolation of the SVC from the right atrium was achieved, with restoration of sinus rhythm in the atria and persistence of the tachycardia within the SVC.
Tidal Interaction in High Mass X-ray Binaries

Abstract: Our aim is to investigate tidal interaction in High-Mass X-ray Binary stars in order to determine in which objects the rotation of the mass donors is synchronized or pseudosynchronized with the orbital motion of the compact companion. We calculate the pseudosynchronization period (P_ps) and compare it with the rotational period of the mass donors (P_rot). We find that (1) the Be/X-ray binaries are not synchronized, the mass donors rotate faster than the orbital period and the ratio P_ps/P_rot is 2-300; (2) the giant and supergiant systems are close to synchronization and for them the ratio P_ps/P_rot is 0.3-2.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of the market of financial services of the North American countries with the aim to analyse activity of credit union and comparison with the results of operation of credit unions of Ukraine. It determines principles of activity and models of credit unions, strengths and legislative support of development. The article provides results of comparative analysis of the system of credit unions of Canada, United States and Ukraine by main indicators, such as level of assets and liabilities, and number of credit unions and their clients in the context of the studied states. It separately considers a structure of target types of crediting in the context of the countries. It analyses activity of credit unions established by Ukrainian immigrants in the territory of Canada. It forms recommendations on support of domestic organisations at the state level using example of North American states. Статья посвящена исследованию рынка финансовых услуг стран Северной Америки с целью анализа деятельности кредитных союзов и сопоставления с результатами работы кредитных союзов Украины. Определены принципы деятельности и модели кредитных союзов, сильные стороны и законодательная поддержка развития. В статье приведены результаты сравнительного анализа системы кредитных союзов Канады, США и Украины по основным показателям, таким, как уровень активов и пассивов, количество кредитных союзов и их клиентов в разрезе исследуемых государств. Отдельно рассмотрена структура целевых видов кредитования в разрезе стран. Проанализирована деятельность кредитных союзов, основанных украинскими эмигрантами на территории Канады. Сформированы рекомендации по поддержке отечественных организаций на государственном уровне по примеру североамериканских государств.
Circumstellar discs in X/gamma-ray binaries: first results from the Echelle spectrograph

Abstract: Here we report our first spectral observations of Be/X-ray and gamma-ray binaries obtained with the new Echelle spectrograph of the National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen. For four objects (LSI+61303, gamma Cas, MWC 148, 4U 2206+54), we report the parameters and estimate the sizes of their circumstellar discs using different emission lines (H-alpha, H-beta, H-gamma, HeI and FeII). For MWC 148, we find that the compact object goes deeply through the disc. The flank inflections of H-alpha can be connected with inner ring formed at the periastron passage or radiation transfer effects. We point out an intriguing similarity between the optical emission lines of the $\gamma$-ray binary MWC 148 and the well known Be star $\gamma$ Cas.
A Dynamically Adaptive Sparse Grid Method for Quasi-Optimal Interpolation of Multidimensional Analytic Functions

Abstract: In this work we develop a dynamically adaptive sparse grids (SG) method for quasi-optimal interpolation of multidimensional analytic functions defined over a product of one dimensional bounded domains. The goal of such approach is to construct an interpolant in space that corresponds to the "best $M$-terms" based on sharp a priori estimate of polynomial coefficients. In the past, SG methods have been successful in achieving this, with a traditional construction that relies on the solution to a Knapsack problem: only the most profitable hierarchical surpluses are added to the SG. However, this approach requires additional sharp estimates related to the size of the analytic region and the norm of the interpolation operator, i.e., the Lebesgue constant. Instead, we present an iterative SG procedure that adaptively refines an estimate of the region and accounts for the effects of the Lebesgue constant. Our approach does not require any a priori knowledge of the analyticity or operator norm, is easily generalized to both affine and non-affine analytic functions, and can be applied to sparse grids build from one dimensional rules with arbitrary growth of the number of nodes. In several numerical examples, we utilize our dynamically adaptive SG to interpolate quantities of interest related to the solutions of parametrized elliptic and hyperbolic PDEs, and compare the performance of our quasi-optimal interpolant to several alternative SG schemes.
Social work at school: View into the past, view into the future

Abstract: The practice of social work at school existed in the Republic of Slovenia in the past (the period of the SFRY). This paper presents the findings arising from that period, the reasons for abandoning that practice (the problems of management and the achieved educational level of the social workers at that time), as well as the theoretical assumptions forming the basis for reconsidering the possibility of its reintroduction both to primary and secondary schools. This paper presents the different theoretical models and paradigms they rely on (traditional or conservative, reformist, radical, system-ecological and social-constructivist), with special reference to the social-constructivist model of social work, which is also author's own orientation. The suggested models and theoretical assumptions that social work rests on are associated with the domains of work common to social work and school, and those are: on micro-level, the realm of socialization (socialization process) and educational work related to pupils (common both to school work and social work), on the level of school - work on establishing the psycho-social climate, especially within peer groups, youth subcultures, the relation towards authority, the presence of violence and offender's behavior at school. Also, significant common ground in the paper stems from the concept of decentralization, on the one hand, and the fact that school is an institution that develops numerous functions through meaningful connections with the context of the local community and the society.
La era del gas?

Abstract: La matriz energética global está experimentando cambios sustanciales. Pese a que la demanda petrolera mundial ha crecido ininterrumpidamente y a diversos ritmos en los últimos 150 a os, aproximadamente, otras fuentes de energía primaria han empezado a ganar paulatina y sostenida-mente espacio en el mercado energético mundial. Con un crecimiento de la demanda superior a la del petróleo y al de las fuentes renovables de energía, el gas natural se ha convertido en un impor-tante energético en la última década. El incremento de su participación el mercado energético y su combustión menos contaminante lo han colocado como una seria opción energética en el marco de la transición del petróleo hacia fuentes de energía menos contaminantes. Según estudios realizados por importantes organizaciones dedicadas al hecho energético, como la Agencia internacional de Energía, en las próximas dos décadas el uso del gas natural está proyectado para crecer aproxima-damente 3 veces más que la rata de consumo de petróleo. En la actualidad en consumo del gas natural, especialmente el metano, es equivalente a 33 millones de barriles diarios de petróleo. Dis-ponibilidad del recurso, costo y consideraciones ambientales favorecen el crecimiento seguro del gas en las aplicaciones industriales y generación de electricidad, así como en el sector doméstico o residencial.

Abstract: El presente trabajo representa, por un lado, un ejercicio de aproximación a algunas de las ideas predominantes a lo largo de la dilatada historia petrolera de Venezuela, que han constituido par-te del ideario de las posturas estatales y estatistas para la administración de los hidrocarburos, y del petróleo en particular, en el país. De ese conjunto de principios, en este ensayo se explora dos en particular: la propiedad estatal de los recursos del subsuelo y el uso del petróleo como instrumento de política exterior. Este último aspecto está delimitado temporalmente al presente gobierno del Presidente Hugo R. Chávez Frías, aun cuando se hacen alusiones retrospectivas a la permanencia de la noción a lo largo de la historia colonial y republicana en Venezuela.

It is obtained new behaviors of {\it warp factor}, constraints in that the strong brane has tension of positive sign and, new relations between the coupling constants $\kappa_4$, $\kappa_5$ and between the Higgs and Planck masses.
Orbital eccentricity of the symbiotic star MWC 560

Abstract: We present projected rotational velocity measurements of the red giant in the symbiotic star MWC 560 (V694 Mon), using the high-resolution spectroscopic observations with the FEROS spectrograph. We find that the projected rotational velocity of the red giant is vsini = 8.2 +/- 1.5 km/s, and estimate its rotational period to be P_rot = 144-306 days. Using the theoretical predictions of tidal interaction and pseudosynchronization, we estimate the orbital eccentricity e=0.68-0.82. We briefly discuss the connection of our results with the photometric variability of the object.
