Cultivos Tropicales , 2011,
Abstract: in our country, the corn is cultivated from the time of the aboriginal ones and it constitutes a basic food in the human nutrition, of the livestock and the birds; it is the second cereal of importance and has high consumption preference for the population. in cuba, six races of corn exist with a high diversity, which has been broadly studied. the present work was carried out in a sample of 106 local varieties, these local varieties were included conserved in situ in peasants' properties and conserved ex situ. the objective of the study was to evaluate the degree of variability of the collection; using for it 16 characters. the obtained results allowed to detect the existence of variability in the sample. it was demonstrated that the evaluated collection of corn presented variability due to the difference among genotypes, to the plurality of origins, handling and environmental conditions in that this cultivation is developed in cuba. also, in the studied collection, the variability of the evaluated characters is moderate, due to the selection that the peasants carry out on them. the most variable characters were the incidence of spodoptera frugiperda (smith), height to the superior ear and weight of a hundred seeds.

Revista Cubana de Cirug?-a , 2004,
Abstract: the brain tumors are a real complex problem for most of the professionals devoted to their diagnosis and treatment. the patient with a brain tumor is a scientific, ethical and emotional challenge for the radiologist and the neurosurgeon. since the discovery of the x-rays in 1895, radiology and later neuroradiology, as a discipline, have been unquestionably useful in the detection of injuries. during the last decades, the development attained by the neuroimaging techniques has allowed to make an accurate diagnosis and to determine the exact location of the tumor, the structural perilesional details, the evidence of damage of the hematoencephalic barrier, the brain edema, and the degree of tumoral malignity through the functional imaging studies. in this paper, we pretend to make a general review on the most used diagnostic methods in the detection of glial tumors, an indispensable previous step to treat them and to have a prognosis

The brain tumors are a real complex problem for most of the professionals devoted to their diagnosis and treatment. Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2002,
Abstract: In this article, the political and strategic pertinence of the EZLN to transcend its territorial confinementin Chiapas and its discursive confinement out of the institutional parameters of the political arena is discussed. The mass mobilisation of supporters and indigenous leaders of the EZLN from San Cristóbal de las Casas towards México City is the means used by the Zapatistas to under go such phenomenal task. From the relessons can be drawn regarding the way in which it exposed the institutional coherence, the openness and will to negotiate of Zedillo (1994-2000) and Fox (2000-2006) administrations.

Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2019.103020
Abstract: This paper shows the results of the assessment of impairment suffered by elements of electronic equipment by environmental effects in different climatic zones of Mexico. For this study, evaluated devices were evaluated that are mostly exposed under different climatic conditions of operation, to determine the degree of damage suffered which leads to malfunction, reduced service life and loss of information in some cases. The main contribution is to identify the causes of the deterioration to delay the effect of atmospheric corrosion deterioration in electronic components. The Mexican Republic has a wide range of climates and subclimates over its territory, sampling was performed for each one of the most representative regions, by their nature tend to be more conducive to the release of corrosive effect on the computer and electronic devices. For the determination of existing impairment in electronic equipment, a methodology is proposed for the evaluation of samples taken from each region, determining the degree of corrosion that exists in these devices. It should be noted that according to the literature, the main pollutants that lead to the deterioration caused by corrosive environmental phenomena are SO2, NOx, CO, CO2, coupled with the presence of ozone and chloride, characteristic of the coastal region, combined with the percent relative humidity (% HR), and temperature cycles as reported by environmental monitoring systems in Mexico. With the study of atmospheric corrosivity in electronic devices has been determined: 1) Design and operation of chamber to accelerated atmospheric corrosion testing. 2) Identification of electronic components with increased susceptibility to corrosive phenomena under typical environmental different regions of Mexico. 3) Correlation of damage suffered in electronic equipment under typical operating conditions and accelerated tests. 4) Determining the degree of atmospheric corrosion on electronic equipment. 5) Construction of atmospheric corrosivity map for Mexico in electronic devices.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of depressive symptoms on resting EEG and their corre- lation with endogenous hormone levels in postmenopausal women without a diagnosis of major depress- sion. Fifty postmenopausal women aged 48 to 60 years were assessed for depressive symptoms using the Beck Depression Inventory. EEG activity was recorded during rest with eyes closed in 23 participants with minimal and 27 with moderate depressive symptoms. Relative power for delta, theta, alpha1, alpha2, beta1 and beta2 were analyzed and compared between women with minimal and moderate depressive symptoms. Hormonal levels of estrone, estradiol, progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone and lu- teinizing hormone were obtained and correlated with the EEG parameters. The women with moderate de- pressive symptoms showed more relative alpha1power (p = .01) and less relative beta 2 power (p = .03). Relative theta and alpha2 power, estradiol levels and menopausal years were predictors of depressive symptoms. Progesterone was negatively correlated with the theta band (p = .005) and positively correlated with the beta2 band (p = .02) in women with moderate depressive symptoms. Estrone was negatively cor- related with the alpha2 band (p = .05), and estradiol was positively correlated with the theta band (p = .02) and negatively correlated with the beta2 band (p = .05) in women with minimal depressive symptoms. These findings suggest that slow and fast EEG relative power, menopausal status and estrogen levels pre- dict depressive symptoms and that progesterone is related with moderate depression.

Revista de la Facultad de Medicina , 2001,
Abstract: the scientific literature does not show a clear effect of a diet rich in palm oil on the plasma content of lipoproteins, triglycerides and cholesterol, some of the reports are in disagreement. the aim of this work was to study the effect of palm oil on triglycerides and cholesterol content on plasma in lipoproteins and fatty acid composition in plasma lipids. the experiment was carreid out in new zealand male rabbits, fed with a diet 10% (wt/wt) fat content during 9 weeks. the fats used were corn oil (control group) or palm iol (experimental group). the animals were anaesthetized after 12 hour of starvation, fatty acid composition on triglycerides, cholesterol plasmatic and lipoproteins levels were determined. the animals fed with palm oil showed a not significant increase in very low density lipoprotein (vldl) and plasma triglycerides and cholesterol. palm oil diet showed high relation of satured/poliinsatured fatty acids and increased the contend of palmitic acid in plasma triglycerides with reduction of linoleic acids in this lipids fraction; however, the cholesteryl ester fatty acids did not change between corn oil and palm oil diet. the non significant increase in plasma triglycerides and vldl content of the palm oil group must be taken into account in the dietetic control of type iv hiperlipidemic patient.
