Abstract: Desde la aprobación de la Ley 39/2006 de Promoción de la Autonomía Personal y Atención a las Personas en Situación de Dependencia, se ha producido un aumento de la visibilidad social de las personas cuidadoras en Espa a. En este trabajo se reflexiona sobre las consecuencias de la labor del cuidador/a informal así como sobre algunas diferencias con respecto al trabajador/a profesional. Analizamos también aspectos que pueden ser positivos y novedosos en el proceso de cuidado: la accesibilidad y las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación. Para ello, hemos utilizado técnicas como el análisis documental, la revisión bibliográfica e información estadística y la matriz de análisis DAFO. Los resultados nos muestran que la mayoría de las cuidadoras informales son mujeres que no tienen igualdad de oportunidades con respecto a otros trabajadores y que necesitan también cuidados. The work of caregivers is paid special attention since the passing of the Law 39/2006 on the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Care for Dependent Persons in Spain. The present article compares the work of professional and informal caregivers, and considers the relevance of the Technologies of Information and Communication for this field. The paper provides a descriptive and prospective analysis of reality, using techniques such as document analysis, literature review, statistical information and the SWOT technique. The results show that most informal caregivers today are still women who should also be assisted in their task.

Abstract: Resumenpérdidas económicas directas e indirectas en ganadería, y representaun grave riesgo sanitario debido a los contactos entre personas yanimales infectados principalmente. Por lo que, se realizó un estudioretrospectivo de la rabia de animales de importancia económica, deacuerdo a los registros de los focos rábicos desde el a o 2001 al 2008analizando las características geográficas de la región. El Estado dePuebla a nivel sanitario está dividido en 10 Jurisdicciones Sanitarias(J.S.). Se presentaron 333 casos de rabia durante los a os de 2001 a2008 en el Estado, de los cuales el 52.9% de los casos correspondió arabia paralítica, de éstos 151 casos se presentaron en bovinos. Loscasos de rabia paralítica se han presentado en 6 J.S. y 95 localidades han sido afectadas que corresponden a 40 municipios; la J.S. No. 1 presentó mayor número de localidades afectadas y un mayor número de casos (117) durante el periodo de estudio. De acuerdo a las zonas sonde se han presentado los casos de rabia, se dedujo que losprincipales factores que influyen en la distribución del murciélagohematófago en el Estado de Puebla, son la disponibilidad de alimentoy hábitat, esto último está determinado por factores antropogénicoscomo la deforestación y la presencia de zonas ganaderas.SummaryBovine paralytic rabies is a viral disease that causes severe direct and indirect economic losses in livestock, also causes a serious health risk because of contact between people and infected animals. Because of this, We did a retrospective study of rabies in animals of economic importance, according to records of rabies outbreaks from 2001 to 2008, and we analyzed the geographical features of the region. The State of Puebla, in a health level, is divided into 10 health jurisdictions (HJ). As a result, 333 cases of rabies were reported during 2001 to 2008 in the State, of which 52.9% corresponded of paralytic rabies, of which 151 cases went for bovines. The paralytic rabies cases only had been presented in 6 Health Jurisdictions and 95 localities were affected which correspond to 40 municipalities: the H.J. number 1 reported the majority of the affected localities also the majority of the cases of rabies (117) during the years of study. According to areas where there have been cases of rabies, it appeared that the main factors that influence in the distribution of vampire bats in the State of Puebla, are the availability of shelter and food, this is determined by anthropogenic factors such as deforestation and the presence of livestock areas.
Cell dedifferentiation and epithelial to mesenchymal transitions during intestinal regeneration in H. glaberrima

Abstract: We have now obtained a monoclonal antibody that labels the mesothelium; the outer layer of the gut wall composed of peritoneocytes and myocytes. Using this antibody we studied the role of this tissue layer in the early stages of intestinal regeneration. We have now shown that the mesothelial cells of the mesentery, specifically the muscle component, undergo dedifferentiation from very early on in the regeneration process. Cell proliferation, on the other hand, increases much later, and mainly takes place in the mesothelium or coelomic epithelium of the regenerating intestinal rudiment. Moreover, we have found that the formation of the intestinal rudiment involves a novel regenerative mechanism where epithelial cells ingress into the connective tissue and acquire mesenchymal phenotypes.Our results strongly suggest that the dedifferentiating mesothelium provides the initial source of cells for the formation of the intestinal rudiment. At later stages, cell proliferation supplies additional cells necessary for the increase in size of the regenerate. Our data also shows that the mechanism of epithelial to mesenchymal transition provides many of the connective tissue cells found in the regenerating intestine. These results present some new and important information as to the cellular basis of organ regeneration and in particular to the process of regeneration of visceral organs.In recent years, investigators have shown a renewed interest in regenerative phenomena. In view that many "classical" model system organisms show limited regenerative capacities, research on non-traditional model systems has flourished. Abstract: En 1981, Cuba reportó la primera epidemia de dengue hemorrágico en las Américas, en la cual se reportaron más de 344 203 enfermos, con 10 312 casos graves y muy graves, y 158 fallecidos. En estos 30 a os con posterioridad a la epidemia, las acciones de vigilancia, control, e investigaciones realizadas han permitido que el país se mantenga libre de dengue aunque se han reportado epidemias y transmisiones que han sido interrumpidas. En este trabajo se resumen aspectos de interés relacionados con esta epidemia así como con la vigilancia de laboratorio y los resultados de algunas de las investigaciones realizadas. A Multiparameter Colloidal Titrations for the Determination of Cationic Polyelectrolytes  [PDF]

Abstract: In water treatment processes and conditioning drinking water, PEs are widely used; however, their environmental impact is still doubtful, since residual concentrations increase organic matter content and represents a potential health hazard. This paper demonstrates a multiparametric study of two colloidal titration methods: spectrophotometric and zeta potential end point detection. The first one was optimized to guarantee the accuracy of cationic commercial PE quantification. It includes the indicator dose optimization using analytical criteria for competing equilibria, a calibration curve for two ranges of CPE concentration (1 - 5 ppm and 5 - 100 ppm) and the interference study of flocculant and Sn in the CPE quantification. The second method provides a physicochemical validation of the electric surface phenomena occurring during the colloidal titration and the end point detection. As an additional contribution the zeta potential titration was discussed and proposed as an alternative method for quantifying CPE when the sample is metal free.

Abstract: In this paper is describing the physicochemical behavior of polyelectrolytes (PEs) used in waste water treatment with mono-, di- and trivalent metal ions as K+, Mg2+, Zn2+, Fe3+, Sn2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Al3+ and Cr3+. A coagulant polyelectrolyte Poly(vinyl sulfate) potassium salt (PVSK), and a commercial available Flocculant Trident 2756, were used as models for the study. The colloidal titration UV-Vis spectroscopy technique was successfully implemented in order to evaluate the complexation of PEs with Toluidine Blue O (OTB) and the ability of different metal ions to displace the OTB from the PE-OTB complex and form the PE-metal ion complex. Abstract: Microorganims of the bovine rumen fluid biocatalyzed the reduction of nitro-compound substrates to yield the respective amines. This enzymatic process, using ruminal contents, has rarely been reported in associa- tion with the bioreduction of nitro groups. The biotransformation reactions catalyzed by this system were de- pendent of both the electronic characteristics and the area/volume of the nitro-substrates confirming the processes are enzymatic. The semi-preparative scale biotransformation went by in good yield showing the rumen fluid may be employed in the synthesis of amines under very mild conditions and, moreover, it may have application in the bioremediation of nitro-compounds.
