An Approach for Personalized Social Matching Systems by Using Ant Colony [PDF]

Abstract:

Personalized social matching systems can be seen as recommender systems that recommend people to others in the social networks, with desirable skills/characteristics. In this work, an algorithm based on Ant Colony is proposed to solve the optimization problem of clustering/matching people in a social network specifically designed for this purpose; during this process, their personal characteristics and preferences (and the degree of importance thereof) are taken into account. The numerical results indicate that the proposed algorithm can successfully perform clustering with a variable number of individuals.

Abstract: this article approaches the democratic management of public education in brazil. it seeks to assess how the education systems of the states, the federal district, and state capitals have been organized to meet the constitutional provisions that established democratic management as a public education principle, and at which level they adapted their legislation and rules, as well as their administrative framework, to participation demands. it analyzes the democratic management concepts vis-à-vis participation, principals assignment processes, the constitution and functioning of support committees within the schools, decentralization, and autonomy. it also mentions recent studies and research on the efforts and resistances found in the implementation of democratic management mechanisms in different education systems. it builds on the fact that the democratic management is adopted by the state as a means to achieve strategic targets and analyses the difficulties resulting from the implementation of such mechanisms, since these presuppose a high level of social participation but are sponsored by a state model strongly characterizes by patrimonialistic arrangements.

Abstract: this paper makes use of the concept of "event" in order to reflect on the processes through which social movements act and constitute themselves. the idea is to analyze the displacing potential that can be engendered by these collective agencies, which give life to participative practices that are essential to democracy. the discussion begins with a brief presentation of the concept of event, focusing especially on the ideas of louis quéré. in the sequence, it establishes some connections between the concept of "event" and social movements, highlighting the importance in this context of arendt？s notions of "action" and "new beginning". at this point the paper evidences that the public unfolding of a social movement struggle can be thought of as an "event", if one has in mind the meaning of such concept. finally, it discusses the recurrent process of crystallization of these collective agencies by means of their unification in a bureaucratized entity.

Abstract: this paper discusses the issue of political representation, by arguing the necessity of re-envisioning it so as to consider non-electoral forms of representation. it claims that civil society associations can be conceived of as representatives of a series of discourses, voices, opinions, perspectives and ideas. whilst this type of representation lacks formal mechanisms of authorization and accountability, its legitimacy may emerge from the effects of such associations and from their porosity to several interactional loci. the paper suggests that associations that are open to several discursive spheres are more prone to foster a discursive accountability, built within a broad process in which discourses clash in several communicative contexts. the idea of a deliberative system helps to understand the interconnections among these interactional loci, as it points to the possibility of a dynamic between partiality and generality, which is at the heart of political representation.

Abstract: brazilian oral hygiene institutions have promoted tooth extraction as a dental health practice. this article investigates the issue of dental loss within a rural drought area in the state of bahia. based on verbal information provided by local inhabitants, the author investigates dental extraction as perceived by the community, i.e., as a commonplace fact. the main goal is to analyze both representations of the oral cavity based on individual experiences and their associations with oral care practices, derived from the social reality in which they are immersed. the author considers the issues of both individual responsibility and that of government agencies and dentists.

Abstract: the implementation of primary health care as a strategy for organizing health care is undoubtedly important. there are already sufficient evidences that countries whose health systems are organized from the principles of primary care achieve better results on health with lower costs, higher level of user satisfaction and greater equity even in situations of great social inequity such as in brazil. strengthening primary care in brazil has been a gradual process, showed with the expansion of the coverage of family health teams in all states of the federation, nowadays we have 29,148 of family health teams, 228,412 community health workers and 17,588 oral health teams working throughout the country. there are multiple studies on family health strategy showing positive results that let no doubt about the success of this strategy. despite all the advances, challenges were placed ahead, the most important are: the challenge of training and permanent education, the challenge of consolidating the phc as system's coordinator and the challenge of communicating with society. we are on track, meet the challenges mentioned is an obligation of brazilian society in the maintenance of greater social inclusion's policy, which is the unified health system driven by the primary care/family health strategy.
