Transliterated Word Identification and Application to Query Translation Mining  [PDF]

Abstract: Query translation mining is a key technique in cross-language information retrieval and machine translation knowl-edge acquisition. For better performance, the queries are classified into transliterated words and non-transliterated words based on transliterated word identification model, and are further channeled to different mining processes. This paper is a pilot study on query classification for better translation mining performance, which is based on supervised classification and linguistic heuristics. The person name identification gets a precision of over 97%. Transliterated word translation mining shows satisfactory performance.
Evaluating Online Shopping Service Quality—SERVEGAL in Taiwan Tourism Industry  [PDF]

While SERVQUAL is the most extensively used measurements of service quality among industries nowadays and its five-dimension measured factors are investigated with respect to the customers’ reaction, E-SERVQUAL thus is developed amid traditional service industries to cope with the internet markets. Both two models use measured data based upon after purchased instead of pre- purchased which is considered as the main concern for service quality. Taking Magal’s instrument into account, which indicates three dimensions that possess the function of customers’ comments, customers’ demand and service planning to measure the service quality, we propose the SERVEGAL model to include customers’ recognition on service quality pre-purchasing. And a case study in tourism industry is applied to verify our proposal. The result of this study shows that SERVEGAL is not merely a service planning provider, but also a tool to accommodate with the customers’ expectation for service quality.

Analysis on Genetic Diversity of Radix Astragali by ISSR Markers  [PDF]

Abstract: Radix Astragali has been an important traditional Chinese herbal medicine for over 2000 years. It is derived from two plant species, namely, Astragalus mongholicus [Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge. var. mongholicus (Bge.) Hsiao] and Astragalus membranaceus [Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge.] (Leguminosae ), according to the Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China. In this study, the genetic diversity and genetic relationships of Radix Astragali in China were analyzed by Inter-Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) markers. A total of 25 highly polymorphic ISSR primers were selected to amplify 95 Radix Astragali samples. Among 273 DNA bands amplified, 213 are polymorphic (percentage of polymorphic bands: 78%). The average value of the amplified bands was 10.9 for each primer, and the number varied from 4 to 20. The genetic diversity of the 95 Radix Astragali samples was analyzed by using POPGENE 1.32 software. The Nei’s genetic diversity index (h) and Shannon’s information index (I ) were 0.3590 and 0.5308, respectively, which indicated the abundant genetic diversity of Radix Astragali . The level of genetic diversity in A. membranaceus (h: 0.3109, I : 0.4657) was slightly lower than that in A. mongholicus (h: 0.3364, I : 0.4969). Considering the average genetic similarity coefficient by NTSYS analysis to cluster the A. membranaceus of nine habitats and A. mongholicus of five habitats, Radix Astragali samples were clustered into two groups according to place of origin. This clustering is different from traditional clustering, which divides groups according to species. Results obtained from this study will provide a theoretical basis for the molecular study on germplasm resources of Radix Astragali .
Comprehensive Theoretical Studies on the Reaction of 1-Bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene with OH Free Radicals

Abstract: The potential energy surfaces (PES) for the reaction of 1-bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (CF 3CHCBrH) with hydroxyl (OH) free radicals is probed theoretically at the CCSD/aug-cc-pVDZ//B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. All the possible stationary and first-order saddle points along the reaction paths were verified by the vibrational analysis. The calculations account for all the product channels. Based on the calculated CCSD/aug-cc-pVDZ potential energy surface, the possible reaction mechanism is discussed. Six distinct reaction pathways of 1-bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (BTP) with OH are investigated. The geometries, reaction enthalpies and energy barriers are determined. Canonical transition-state theory with Wigner tunneling correction was used to predict the rate constants for the temperature range of 290–3,000 K without any artificial adjustment, and the computed rate constants for elementary channels can be accurately fitted with three-parameter Arrhenius expressions. OH addition reaction channel and the H atom abstraction channels related to the carbon-carbon double bond are found to be the main reaction channels for the reaction of 1-bromo-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (CF 3CHCBrH) with hydroxyl (OH) free radicals while the products leading to CF 3CHCH + BrOH and COHF 2CHCBrH + F play a negligible role.
The Impact of Macro Factors on the Profitability of China’s Commercial Banks in the Decade after WTO Accession  [PDF]

Profitability of China’s commercial banks has increased significantly since it joined the World Trade Organization (WTO). Constantly advancing of deepening the reform and increasingly fierce of international competition make us to be concerned more about macroeconomic factors. This paper makes an empirical analysis with a panel of 10 Chinese listed banks during the period 1998- 2012 to make a study of the potential impact of external factors may bring to China’s capital market. The results confirm that macroeconomic do have a substantial influence to the earning power of commercial banks, according to which some suggestions are made at the end of the paper.

A Fast Fourth-Order Method for 3D Helmholtz Equation with Neumann Boundary  [PDF]

Abstract: We present fast fourth-order finite difference scheme for 3D Helmholtz equation with Neumann boundary condition. We employ the discrete Fourier transform operator and divide the problem into some independent subproblems. By means of the Gaussian elimination in the vertical direction, the problem is reduced into a small system on the top layer of the domain. The procedure for solving the numerical solutions is accelerated by the sparsity of Fourier operator under the space complexity of O(M3). Furthermore, the method makes it possible to solve the 3D Helmholtz equation with large grid number. The accuracy and efficiency of the method are validated by two test examples which have exact solutions.
Investigation of adsorption of surfactant at the air-water interface with quantum chemistry method

Abstract: Density functional theory (DFT) of quantum chemistry was used to optimize the configuration of the anionic surfactant complexes CH3(CH2)7OSO 3 (H2O)n (n=0–6) and calculate their molecular frequencies at the B3LYP/6-311+G* level. The interaction of CH3(CH2)7OSO 3 with 1 to 6 water molecules was investigated at the air-water interface with DFT. The results revealed that the hydration shell was formed in the form of H-bond between the hydrophilic group of CH3(CH2)7OSO 3 and 6 waters. The strength of H-bonds belongs to medium. Binding free energy revealed that the hydration shell was stable. The increase of the number of water molecules will cause increases of the total charge of hydrophilic group and S10-O9-C8 bond angle, but decreases of the alkyl chain length and the bond lengths of S10-O11, S10-O12 as well as S10-O13, respectively.
Review on the Research for Addition and Subtraction Word Problem Solving

Abstract: Addition and subtraction word problems refer to a type of mathematical word problems that can be solved by applying addition and subtraction. They can be mainly classified into three categories: combine, change and compare. There are four types of methods to investigate the mental processes: solving problem, recalling and constructing problems, building simulation model of computer, and recording eye-movement. Previous research found that the mental processes could be significantly affected by these factors: semantic type, age, phrase and sentence, narrating format, context personalization, the structure of problem text, number size, the type of unknown set and strategies to solve problems. Researchers mainly proposed two theoretical explanations for the mental processes: mathematical knowledge applying model and language comprehension model .

Abstract: 探讨的问题是部总知识是否制约着算术文字题的解答过程。小学4年级学生(192人)和大学生(178人)被要求解答一步加法文字题。实验结果发现,正确列式方式受到已知客体集合具体特征的系统性影响,尤其是随着年龄的提高和练习程度的深入,这种影响越来越明显。这是部总知识作用假设所不能解释的。现根据集合在心理表征中的位置和表征强度解释结果,并在此基础上讨论了研究的实践意义。

Abstract: Students tend to make some mistakes when solving referent unknown compare problems. At present,people explained this phenomenon mainly from the aspects of relational transferring and keyword strategy.This article proposed concept-driving hypothesis, which means related background knowledge achvated by information presented in the text of problems can influence the representation of problems. Four experiments were made upon this hypothesis. The main results were: (1) Students constructed compared quality unknown problems mainly or firstly in the talk of constructing word problems, (2) The different orders of solving compared quality unknown problems and referent unknown problems had different interference between them; (3) The level of processing data would influence the way of concept-driving.In the end of this anicle, the authors discussed about the implication of this research on instruction.
