Bioassays on selection and feeding responses of Holotrichia oblita adults to different plant species

Abstract: Bioassays on selection and feeding responses of Holotrichia oblita adults to different plant species were conducted both in laboratory and under field conditions. The selection response bioassay showed that the adults were significantly attracted to Ricinus communis. In paired tests of the field cages, more than 60% adults were attracted to R. communis plants, while only 35.55%, 34.45%, 33.35%, and 26.65% were attracted to plants of Glycine max, Arachis hypogaea, Ipomoea batatas, and Gossypium hirsutum, respectively. In the laboratory, the selection response percentage of the adults to R. communis leaves reached up to 93% in the presence of other host plant leaves and still arrived at 70% in the absence of other host plant leaves. Feeding deterrence bioassay showed that the adults preferred to I. batatas leaves with 229.90 ± 4.25 mg leaf consumption and 41.30 ± 5.19 mg faeces excretion after 12 h, followed by the leaves of G. hirsutum and A. hypogaea. The adult did not prefer leaves of R. communi with only 7.10 ± 0.23 mg leaf consumption and corresponding 4.00 ± 0.84 mg fecal excretion. In summary, all experimental results suggested that the attraction of H. oblita adults to R. communi is not triggered for feeding.
Effects of tobacco volatiles on ovipositing behaviors of two sibling Helicoverpa species and volatile chemical analysis

Abstract: Oligophagous Helicoverpa assulta (Guenée) and polyphagous H. armigera (Hübner) are two sibling species, with tobacco as the shared host-plant. The effects of plant volatiles from one variety of Nicotiana tabacum and four varieties of N. rustica on electrophysiological and behavioral responses of these two insect species were investigated in the laboratory. The results indicated that virgin and mated females of H. assulta elicited stronger EAG and behavioral responses to four tested N. rustica varieties than to N. tabacum, while H. armigera was reverse in responses. Females of the two Helicoverpa species responded more actively in EAG and behavioral experiments to the volatiles of tested tobacco varieties than males, so there were significant sexual differences of the two sibling species. The results of gas chromatography-mass spectrum (GC-MS) showed that, in comparison with K326, variety "makhorka" contained higher amount of nicotine, more sorts of green leaf volatiles and less amount of aromatic compounds, suggesting that the difference in sorts and relative concentrations of tobacco volatiles may lead to the different ovipositing preferences of two sibling Helicoverpa species to N. tabacum and N. rustica tobacco plants.

Abstract: 寡食性的烟夜蛾Helicoverpa assulta (Guenée)和广食性的棉铃虫Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner)是实夜蛾属的2近缘种昆虫,在它们的寄主植物中,只有烟草为其共同寄主,为明确它们对烟草挥发物嗅觉感受能力的差异,测定了这2种夜蛾的处女雌蛾、交配雌蛾及雄蛾对20种低浓度(1.0×10-5 mol · L-1)烟草挥发物的触角电位反应,并对其中6种化合物进行了剂量反应测定,结果表明,(1) 2种夜蛾对测试化合物均可产生EAG反应且反应趋势相似:对植物中普遍存在的绿叶气味、脂肪族和芳香族化合物的反应显著高于具有烟草"种"特异性的单萜类、倍半萜类和杂环化合物,表明2种夜蛾远距离定向时,对植物"种"的辨识能力均较差.(2) 2种夜蛾对脂肪族C6_化合物的EAG反应最强,碳链延长或缩短都会导致反应强度的降低.(3) 烟夜蛾对大多数化合物的EAG反应大于棉铃虫,表明在远距离寄主定向时其嗅觉感受器对寄主挥发物的感受能力强于棉铃虫.(4) 烟夜蛾交配雌蛾对β-水芹烯和桧烯的EAG反应高于其处女雌蛾和雄蛾,除此之外2种夜蛾的EAG反应未见显著的性别差异,推测β-水芹烯和桧烯可能是烟夜蛾在烟草上产卵的"信号"物质.(5) 剂量反应曲线表明,在测试的浓度范围内,2种夜蛾对6种类型化合物的EAG反应强度与其浓度呈正相关,且均未达到饱和.由此可知,与棉铃虫相比,烟夜蛾嗅觉神经系统在其寄主定向行为中所起的作用更重要、也更专化.
Effects of two tobacco species on experimental and natural population dynamics of Helicoverpa assulta Guenée

Abstract: 烟夜蛾对黄花烟草的产卵趋性显著高于普通烟草,为明确亲代成虫的产卵选择行为对其后代种群增长的影响,分别在室内和自然条件下,应用生命表技术测定了两种烟草对烟夜蛾的生长发育和存活、食物的转化和利用以及种群增长的影响.结果表明:(1) 室内(26±1)℃、(75±5)% R.H和16L:8D光周期条件下,与普通烟草相比,黄花烟草上幼虫的发育历期显著延长,1~3龄各期幼虫的存活率及雌蛾产卵量显著降低,种群净增殖率(R0=16.1086)和内禀增长率(rm=0.0848)减小.(2) 6龄幼虫对两种烟草的相对取食量(RCR)和近似消化率(AD)无显著差异,但是对黄花烟草的利用率(ECI)、转化率(ECD)及其相对生长率(RGR)显著下降.(3) 第二代烟夜蛾在普通烟田的种群数量呈上升趋势(I=1.0325>1),而在黄花烟田呈下降趋势(I=0.6577<1),第三代烟夜蛾种群在两种烟田均呈下降趋势,但普通烟田的种群增长(I=0.4571)大于黄花烟田(I=0 3592).这些结果表明,黄花烟草较不适合烟夜蛾的繁殖和种群增长,其寄主适合性不如普通烟草.
Repellent effect of non-host vegetables and their extracts on Pieris rapae L.

Abstract: To evaluate the control effects of non-host vegetables on imported cabbage butterfly Pieris rapae, bioassays were conducted to investigate the repellent effects of 6 non-host vegetables such as tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum), fennel (Foeniculum vulgare), catnip (Nepeta cataria), lettuce (Lactuca sativa), coriander (Coriandrum sativum) and towel gourd (Luffa cylindrical) on the butterfly in laboratory and field experiments. Indoor bioassay results show that selection response percentage of adult butterfly to cabbage reduces after treated with non-host vegetable extracts. The selection response percentages of mated female butterfly to cabbages treated with catnip, fennel, tomato and lettuce extracts are particularly low, only 3.67%, 4.30%, 5.27% and 8.26% respectively. Egg numbers laid by adult butterflies in cabbage seedlings treated with non-host vegetable extracts significantly reduce as well. Repellent activities of tomato, fennel and catnip extracts are strongest. After one day of treatment, the percentages of no-choice oviposition repellent are 91.04%, 75.54% and 71.67%, and those of choice oviposition repellent are 94.64%, 79.66% and 78.96% respectively. Field test results show that the amount of butterfly eggs in per cabbage plant could drop by 68.80%, 62.62% and 55.09% respectively in intercropping filed of cabbage with tomato, fennel and catnip. Effective repellent distances of the three non-host vegetables are 4 m, 2 m and 2 m respectively. Therefore, imported cabbage butterfly could be repelled by intercropping non-host vegetables or spraying not-host vegetable extracts in the cabbage fields.
Exotic mesons from quantum chromodynamics with improved gluon and quark actions on the anisotropic lattice

Abstract: Hybrid (exotic) mesons, which are important predictions of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), are states of quarks and anti-quarks bound by excited gluons. First principle lattice study of such states would help us understand the role of ``dynamical'' color in low energy QCD and provide valuable information for experimental search for these new particles. In this paper, we apply both improved gluon and quark actions to the hybrid mesons, which might be much more efficient than the previous works in reducing lattice spacing error and finite volume effect. Quenched simulations were done at $\beta=2.6$ and on a $\xi=3$ anisotropic $12^3\times36$ lattice using our PC cluster. We obtain $2013 \pm 26 \pm 71$ MeV for the mass of the $1^{-+}$ hybrid meson ${\bar q}qg$ in the light quark sector, and $4369 \pm 37 \pm 99$Mev in the charm quark sector; the mass splitting between the $1^{-+}$ hybrid meson ${\bar c}c g$ in the charm quark sector and the spin averaged S-wave charmonium mass is estimated to be $1302 \pm 37 \pm 99$ MeV. As a byproduct, we obtain $1438 \pm 32 \pm 57$ MeV for the mass of a P-wave $1^{++}$ ${\bar u}u$ or ${\bar d}d$ meson and $1499 \pm 28 \pm 65$ MeV for the mass of a P-wave $1^{++}$ ${\bar s}s$ meson, which are comparable to their experimental value 1426 MeV for the $f_1(1420)$ meson. The first error is statistical, and the second one is systematical. The mixing of the hybrid meson with a four quark state is also discussed.
Hybrid mesons from anisotropic lattice QCD with the clover and improved gauge actions

Abstract: We study hybrid mesons from the clover and improved gauge actions at $\beta=2.6$ on the anisotropic $12^3\times36$ lattice using our PC cluster. We estimate the mass of $1^{-+}$ light quark hybrid as well as the mass of the charmonium hybrid. The improvement of both quark and gluonic actions, first applied to the hybrid mesons, is shown to be more efficient in reducing the lattice spacing and finite volume errors.

Abstract: A The α-ethylphenylamine tartaric acid salts 1a-1d were synthesized from R-(+)/S-(-)-α-ethylphenylamine by reacting with (2S,3S)-(+)/(2R,3R)-(-) dihydrobutanedioic acid. They were used as the catalysts in cyanosilylation of prochiral aldehydes to give the corresponding cyanohydrin trimethylsilyl ethers in moderate conversion at room temperature.
Adsorption Control Performance of Phosphorus Removal from Agricultural Non-Point Source Pollution by Nano-Aperture Lanthanum-modified Active Alumina

Abstract: It is great significance to control the phosphorus pollution from agricultural non-point source pollution. In this study, adsorption control performance of phosphorus removal from agricultural non-point source pollution by manual nano-aperture Lanthanum-modified active alumina was a great inspiring from urban-rural-integration-area. About 10 to 30 nanometers aperture on granule surfaces from the active alumina (&gamma-Al2 O3 which average sphere diameters is 3 mm, was formed after modification from Lanthanum (III) chloride. Results show that the adsorption performance of phosphorus removal by using nano-aperture Lanthanum-modified active alumina was much higher percent 50% than active alumina under the optimum condition of pH (pH = 4), adsorption time (12 h) and adsorption dosage of Lanthanum-modified active alumina (0.2 g/50 mL). The adsorption performance of phosphorus removal by nano-aperture Lanthanum-modified active alumina can reach the percentage of 96 from water samples in agricultural non-point source pollution. The adsorption kinetic accorded with the Pseudo-Second-order Kinetic Equations (R2 = 0.9955). The isothermal adsorption property was described by the Langmuir Equation (R2 = 0.9982) which the biggest adsorption capacity was 0.257 mg/g. The average removal efficiency of phosphorus from general farmland, corn field, paddy field, vegetable land was above 92%. It is very evident that the nano-aperture Lanthanum-modified active alumina will be a promising material for phosphorus removal control from agricultural non-point source pollution.
Approach of automated testing generation in regression testing

Abstract: In general, software regression testing applied existing set of test cases for testing. The critical issue would be how to apply the test case efficaciously. This paper did research on expanding existing set of test case, including to change the executing order of test case automatically and to increase or decrease the numbers of executing test cases. Proposed an approach of generation new set of test case automatically based on existing set of test case. The experiment proves that the new test file can run under the testing environment successfully and implement expanding and reducing the scope of testing as well as the time of testing. It provided a useful automated tool for regression testing.
