Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences , 2012,
Abstract: The purpose of the present study is to build the model to expectation of life (ex) associated with age for male of Bangladesh. For this, the expectation of life (ex) for male population of Bangladesh in the census years of 1974, 1981 and 1991 have been used in this study. A few mathematical models have been tried to fit to ex for male of Bangladesh and it is found that they follow polynomial models. The Cross Validity Prediction Power (CVPP) and F-test are also applied to these models to check the validity and significance of the models.

Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences , 2012,
Abstract: In this study an effort has been given attention to establish a mathematical relationship between rate of increase of food and rate of population growth of Malthus`s Theorem. It is seen that Malthus`s Theorem of rate of increase of food and rate of population growth follows positive exponential model. To verify the stability of the model, Cross Validity-Prediction Power (CVPP) is applied in this study. It is found that the coefficient of determination of the fitted model is 100% and the fitted model is also100% stable. And its all parameters are also highly significant.

Md. Rafiqul Islam
Pakistan Journal of Social Sciences , 2012,
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to observe the trends of some fertility measures of Bangladesh. For this, the secondary data of various Censuses of 1961, 1974, 1981 and 1991 and Islam (2003) have been used. Fertility measures such as crude birth rate (CBR) for male, female and both sexes, general fertility rate (GFR), child woman ratio (CWR), replacement index (J) and vital index (VI) have been estimated. And intercensal growth rate has also been estimated. The trends of these measures are observed in this study.
Bifidogenic Effect and the Immunity Power of Human Breast Milk
Md Rafiqul Islam
Delta Medical College Journal , 2013, DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/dmcj.v1i1.14972
Abstract: Bifidobacteria finds optimal living conditions for growth and overgrowth in the colonized part of the bowel when the chyme is rich in malabsorbed carbohydrate and poor in protein. Such condition is fulfilled with breastfeeding. Though the bifidogenic principle of human milk is attributed to the protein free fraction, the quality and quantity of its protein play an important role in the origination and maintenance of microflora .The low concentration of protein in human milk, the properties of this protein and the presence of specific proteins that inhibit competing microbes in the intestinal microflora are essential components of the bifidogenic principle of human milk. Due to the presence of immunological factors in breast milk like antimicrobial agents, anti-inflammatory agents, and immunomodulatory agents, human milk plays vital protective and defensive role when the infant’s immune apparatus is immature. It also contributes early childhood growth and development when the infant is absolutely dependent on his/her caregivers for provision of nutrition.

Beijing Law Review (BLR) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/blr.2013.44021
Abstract:

Maternity leave is an important benefit to the female employees and it plays important role to increase organizational loyalty, efficiency and job satisfaction, particularly in the Non-Government Organizations (NGOs). The objective of the study is to assess the laws and implementation of the maternity benefits at the diverse NGOs on different working echelon inBangladesh. Descriptive statistics and zero order correlation method have been performed using the data haul out from one hundred female employees experiencing at least one child at the different NGOs inKurigram District,Bangladesh. Among all female employees, salary structure and the managerial position are not satisfactory at NGOs in Bangladesh, although higher education of females plays an important role to get the job. In case of maternity benefits, all of them have got three or four months as maternity leave period and a significant number have not got any types of payment during maternity leave (27%), have not enjoyed maternity leave properly (24%), and have been terminated, sent away or expelled etc. due to maternity leave (19%). In addition, an inverse relation of duration of maternity leave with age (26.4%) and length of service (34.1%) has also been identified i.e., duration of maternity leave decreases with increasing employees’ age and length of services. In our study, evidently there are no NGO practices laws of maternity benefit properly in Bangladesh. Therefore, every NGO should administer and implement the Laws of maternity benefit properly.

World Journal of AIDS (WJA) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/wja.2014.44052
Abstract: The HIV/AIDS epidemic has grown on an unprecedented scale since it was first recognized, and presently it is considered as a well known global public health crisis. In making the health policy where millions of populations are at risk, it is necessary to understand the knowledge level about HIV/AIDS. So, this study aimed at to investigate the knowledge level about HIV/AIDS among the villagers. Data and necessary information were collected from one hundred villagers of Salmanpur from Comilla district, Bangladesh through a structured questionnaire. The collected data were used for univariate analysis, to carry out the description of the variables; and to justify the total score of knowledge about HIV/AIDS among the respondents, Cronbach’s alpha (α) was calculated. The results revealed that almost all the respondents (92.00%) were ever heard about HIV/AIDS and half of them (51.00%) were known it as a communicable disease. Majority of the respondents (62.00%) believed that it is caused by heterosexual relation as well as sex with HIV positive persons. However, a good number of respondents were found unaware about the major causes and preventive ways of AIDS. Less than half of the respondents (45.00%) had medium knowledge (α = 0.34 - 0.66) and only 36.00% had the enough knowledge about HIV/AIDS. The knowledge level is increasing with the increase of education level, and the respondents who involved in agricultural works are found the lowest knowledge level (47.00%) about HIV/AIDS. The villagers were known about HIV/AIDS but they do not have accurate information about the ways in which AIDS virus can or cannot be transmitted. Therefore, effective programs should be taken to increase the knowledge level about HIV/AIDS among the villagers in Bangladesh.
