Effect of lamellar nanostructures on the second harmonic generation of polymethylmethacrylate films doped with 4-(4-nitrophenylazo)aniline chromophores

Physics , 2011,
Abstract: The kinetics of the orientation of Disperse Orange 3 molecules embedded in amorphous and nanostructured Polymethylmethacrylate films was studied under the effect of an intense electrostatic poling field. Non-centrosymmetric chromophore distributions were obtained in Polymethylmethacrylate films by Corona poling technique. These distributions depends on the Corona poling time. The changes in the orientation of the Disperse Orange 3 molecules were followed by in-situ transmitted Second Harmonic Generation measurements. The Second Harmonic Generation signal was recorded as function of time at several temperatures; it was fitted as function of the Corona poling time, considering matrix-chromophore interactions. The Polymethylmethacrylate films were nanostructured by the incorporation of an anionic surfactant, the Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate. The lamellar nanostructures in the films were identified by X-ray diffraction measurements.
Virtudes y pecados políticos (Italia, siglos XIII-XV)
Guglielmi,Nilda;
Temas medievales , 2005,
Abstract: on ground of earlier research, the author analyzes political virtues and sins which can be recognized in the italian communes. nilda guglielmi concludes that law was the exogenous factor which conferred coherence to the community, while virtue was an endogenous ethical component which achieved harmony among the citizens. with examples at hand the author illustrates different ways in which these ideals become apparent in actions carried out by certain communal governments.
Sobre la Vita de Cristina de Markyate
Guglielmi,Nilda;
Temas medievales , 2007,
Abstract: the article analyses the vita of an english mystic born shortly after the norman conquest of anglo-saxon england. therefore the article is divided into two sections, the first one devoted to historical points and the second one to spiritual ones. the first section stresses the fact that in the vita the anglo-saxons are pictured positively as opposed to the normans who are called "strangers" and portrayed negatively. in the same section interesting information about society in general and family structures in particular is examined. in the second section the author studies the phases of the mystic's religious vocation and spiritual perfection. the detailed account of these includes all the typical topoi of mystics' biographies in general. in short, the vita is an important document for a better understanding of post-norman england.
Guglielmi,Nilda;
Temas medievales , 2009,
Abstract: in the following pages we continue the translation of christina of markyate's vita. for the purpose we used the latin version edited by c. h. talbot, the life of christina of markyate. a twelfth century recluse, oxford, clarendon press, 1959. our translation has been examined side by side with the english translation by c. h. talbot. we have also used the footnotes of his edition, but only those that helped us in identifying persons and places. the first part of the translation of the vita has been published in volume 15-16 of temas medievales, pp. 11-47.
Transitional Maps in Shadow Lines: A Response to Silvia Albertazzi Mappe transizionali in Shadow Lines. Response a Silvia Albertazzi
Marina Guglielmi
Between , 2011,
Abstract: My response to Silvia Albertazzi’s paper on The Shadow Lines by Amitav Ghosh focuses on a key element of the discourse: the function and use of the map in the definition of subjectivity. The first step I take is to identify the presence of a relationship between the individual subject and that of the collective in Ghosh’s novel. From there forward, the relationship between real and imaginary becomes critical to the analysis of the question of the construction of the self in the narrator. The real/imaginary dichotomy acquires meaning when placed in contact with the notion of the borders lying between the external world and the internal world. The concept of the Transitional Object developed by Donald W. Winnicott is used in this context to formulate the hypothesis of representation in the Ghosh’s novel, of transitional maps which facilitate the passage of the character of the internal world (the self) to the external world (the non-me). Using maps such as these, the narrative representation of the connection between internal space and external space contributes to the literary construction of the physical features of the individual subject. NIR-IT: un lustro al servizio della rete
L. Guglielmi
I servizi Internet: varietà o caos?
L. Guglielmi
Three unsolved problems in physics of Pc1 magnetospheric waves
A. Guglielmi
Physics , 2014,
Abstract: In this paper we analyzed the open problems in the physics of ultra-low-frequency electromagnetic waves Pc1, which also known as the "pearls" (frequency range 0.2 -5 Hz). A number of theoretical problems arose because the standard model of excitation and propagation of waves in the magnetosphere, the foundations of which were laid half a century ago, is unable to explain observable properties of Pc1. In this article the problems are formulated and discussed in context of the general physics of geoelectromagnetic waves. In addition, one problem of experimental character is considered. The essence of the problem is that the observations testify in favor of the idea of some human impact on the Pc1 oscillation mode, but difficulties in interpreting of observations indicate the need for further experimental research.
