Mary Luz Botero
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2013,
Abstract: Unlike the press agency information flow, the figure of special correspondent appears to be the preferred way for the media to study in depth the problems of countries in conflict. The analysis of the articles by French journalists (Le Monde and Libération) shows the inclusion of subjectivity in their discourses, an expressive dimension which is a result of direct contact with Colombian realities which are difficult to understand. Our motivation to analyze the way Colombia is described in the French press is to try to understand how special correspondents use their own experiences on the spot, in order to provide an easier to comprehend view of what seems to be "the Colombian problem". From this point of view we propose to examine some writing strategies which are used to compose a normative narrative inside of which the knowledge, the information, but especially the emotional experience, take form in a synthesis of the event and personal experience with "the other".
MODELO MATEMáTICO APLICADO A LA CURVA DE LACTANCIA EN GANADO VACUNO DOBLE PROPóSITO
Botero,Luz; Vertel,Melba;
Revista MVZ Córdoba , 2006,
Abstract: objective. to select a mathematical model for the lactation curve of milk production in bovine females. materials and methods. during 11 months, the production of milk was studied in 500 bovine females double purpose bos taurus x bos indicus, at the savannas of the colombian low tropic. production was quantified in kilograms. data of milk production were included in time (dry-rainy) and number of lactations (first; second and third and, more than three). data make part of the cattle raising xb file, located in bolivar’s savanna, colombia, gathered from the year 1990 up to the 20000. the lineal simple, quadratic, lineal logarithmic, quadratic logarithmic, incomplete gamma, lineal hyperbolic and inverse polynomial models were applied to these data. nursings (first; second and third and, more than three). the data make part of the file of the cattle raising xb, located in bolívar’s savannas, colombia, gathered from the year 1990 up to the 2000. the parameters for the incomplete gamma and inverse polynomial models were estimated starting from the "gauss-newton" method to non lineal regression; the other ones were adjusted by lineal regression of the productions in function of the months in lactation by the minimum squares method. results. it was observed that the inverse polynomial model is the one that better characterizes the lactation curve, presenting the biggest values for the durbin-watson statistic and the coefficient of determination (r2) and about this model necessary information exists to obtain practical parameters from the lactation curve equation. conclusion. the mathematical polynomial model inverse is an excellent tool to approach the administration and desicions management of cattle double purpose.
MODELO MATEMáTICO APLICADO A LA CURVA DE LACTANCIA EN GANADO VACUNO DOBLE PROPóSITO

Revista MVZ Córdoba , 2006,
Abstract: hembras vacunas.
Luz Elena Botero,Sonia Agudelo
Iatreia , 2004,
Rincón,Luz Mary;
Forma y Función , 2007,
Abstract: the methodological model described here is based on developments in sociolinguistic research which have resulted from a constant concern for the design and implementation of techniques that reflect the language in its social context, departing from the dialectological tradition to the analysis of language. the present monograph is a description of the methodology used in the study of the main phonological, morph-syntactic, lexical and discourse features of the spanish of bucaramanga ( colombia ). the methodological approach presented here is based on the experience of previous studies in the collection, selection, and analysis of data and methodological improvement from these experiences to better converge on the linguistic system that is to be described: the vernacular, the language in use and not an idealized system. it is a model that may be applicable to the study of other varieties of spanish in colombia , as an alternative accepting the view that sociolinguistics has not yet arrived at the ideal method in the study of sociolinguistic phenomena in urban contexts.
Collective Actions in the Face of Violence. Disquisitions based on a Case Study: Comuna 13 in Medellín (Colombia)
Alzate Zuluaga, Mary Luz;
Frontera norte , 2010,
Abstract: this article contributes to the knowledge and visualization of the types and strategies of action that collective subjects produce to cope with violence in a context of internal armed conflict such as the kind that colombia has experienced for over forty years. it describes them as forms of political action that attempt to reverse, transform or alter the power relations that some attempt to impose through this type of violence. at the same time, it contributes to the emergence of a new public scenario that goes beyond essentialist sovereignties, transcending the interpretations of political action from a purely state-oriented approach and a general will.
ESBOZO TEóRICO DE LA ACCIóN POLíTICA COLECTIVA. EXPERIENCIAS COLECTIVAS ALTERNATIVAS FRENTE A LAS RELACIONES HEGEMóNICAS DE DOMINACIóN
áLZATE ZULUAGA,MARY LUZ;
Investigación y Desarrollo , 2008,
Abstract: this article analyzes the elements restructurings for the collective actions, identifying the central categories and the oriented ask for academics in diverse contemporaneous theories. between this elements there are: the perceived injustice, the believe in the action efficacy, the communication channels or links, the audiences changes, the political context for opportunities or threats, the identity constructive process and the frames meaning the real. in conclusion, the collective actions are multidimensional and meaning alternative politics projects and civil resistance front the hegemonic and dominance relationships.
Alzate Zuluaga,Mary Luz;
Estudios Políticos , 2010,
Abstract: this article discusses the way that press reports about the different expressions of civil resistance from tracking information registered on the local and national press about the cases of communes 8, 9 and 13 of the city of medellín during the years 2002-2006. the intention is to know how such practices have been described and interpreted, which are the absences and emphasized aspects with the emitted information, what power relations are legitimized, among other questions. there is an affirmation of the existence of a legitimate and spread discourse on the media consistent with the social and political hegemonic order in colombia. this discourse consist in the invisibility of the political message of denunciation and opposition to the armed actors and their war dynamics, and also consists in the minimization of the challenge represented by the collective practices produced daily in defense of the violated rights of the inhabitants of these deprived neighborhoods in search of recognition and justice against social and political exclusion.
Alzate Zuluaga, Mary Luz;
Estudios sociales (Hermosillo, Son.) , 2010,
Abstract: this article examines the issue of collective actions produced to address violence and armed conflict in colombia, first in the literature on the topic of violence and armed conflict and on the other hand, in the literature devoted to analysis social movement for peace and human rights. first, the findings are mentioned and generalizations about citizen behaviour and political culture in response to situations of violence and armed conflict. secondly, the main contributions on the rise and national dynamics of social movements for peace and human rights. and thirdly, the recent contributions of the studies that have described and analyzed various local collective action, some by way of experiences and collective manifestations of civil resistance, as accumulated other social and political face of violence produced in developing of internal armed conflict. the conclusion is that collective actors have mobilized despite threats against life and physical integrity, highlighting the recent review of the subject, the nature and relative momentary civil subordination against the armed power and despotic.
Blogging: A way to foster EFL writing
Quintero,Luz Mary;
Colombian Applied Linguistics Journal , 2008,
Abstract: this article reports on the results of an action-research project carried out with a group of first year university students from an "english program" at a public university in bogotá. the project aimed to gain insights into efl writing and to analyze the role that feedback played in the process of writing. the experience was implemented through the interaction of two groups of students, one from colombia and the other from canada, who interacted regularly by means of using blogs. students were provided with three different spaces: a personal blog in which they wrote about topics of personal interest, a group blog that allowed students to work and write cooperatively, and a debate blog that required the use of argumentative writing. the findings of this research suggest that efl writing is greatly developed when students feel part of a community to interact with and to share similar interests and language learning goals which are mediated, in this case, by technology. it was also found that by writing in blogs students not only developed their writing but more importantly, students have the possibility to portray and show their own selves through the written pieces they post. finally, the feedback was found to be benefcial in efl writing as it was a crucial ingredient that gave student-writers tools to scaffold in the writing process.
