Abstract: a report of the experience on the process of taking care and of teaching to take care of paraplegic people using the transpersonal caring theory of jean watson?s. it is a descriptive study, that involved six patients, two professors of nursing department of the federal university of ceará (ufc) and forty students registered in the discipline process of taking care ii. the collection of the data was carried out between april, 2000 and april, 2001, by means of semi-structured interviews that involved subjects related with inability and caring. for the application of the theory, nursing process stages were followed acording to alfaro le fevre (2000). the patients, professors and students, were considered partners in the relationship of taking care and teaching/learning to take care. the patients express that this new caring strategy generates satisfaction motivating the accomplishment of innovative practices, such as: alternative cares of the type play and hugs, visual contact and quiet attitude. the students were given bill of the importance of the planning of taking care of the paraplegic persons, for which, they offer more humanistic caring and of better quality. it was a moment of discovery, with the patients, and we contemplated on their styles of living, to be and to act and, together, we tried to understand the meaning of taking care of the paraplegic through our dialogues. thus, to apply the model of transpersonal caring in paraplegic inpatients, it was a way to extend the theory to the practice which represented a growth opportunity and autonomy of nursing in the hospital environment

Abstract: Relato de experiência sobre o processo de cuidar e de ensinar a cuidar de pessoas paraplégicas utilizando a teoria do cuidado transpessoal de Jean Watson. é um estudo descritivo, que envolveu seis pacientes, duas docentes do Departamento de Enfermagem da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) e quarenta alunos matriculados na disciplina Processo de Cuidar II. A coleta dos dados aconteceu no período de abril de 2000 a abril de 2001, mediante entrevistas semi-estruturada que envolveu quest es relativas à perda e ao cuidado. Para a aplica o da teoria, foram seguidas as etapas do processo de enfermagem preconizadas por Alfaro-Le Fevre (2000), tendo os pacientes, docentes e alunos, sido considerados parceiros na rela o ser cuidado e ensinar/aprender a cuidar. Os pacientes expressam que esta nova estratégia de cuidado gera satisfa o e incentivou a realiza o de práticas inovadoras, tais como: cuidados alternativos do tipo toque e abra os, contato visual e atitude calma. Os alunos, se deram conta da importancia do planejamento do cuidado com a pessoa paraplégica, para, assim, prestarem cuidados mais humanísticos e de melhor qualidade. Foi um momento de descobrimento, de exercício da intersubjetividade, pois, na medida em que interagíamos com os pacientes, aprendíamos e refletíamos sobre suas maneiras de viver, ser e agir e, juntos, procurávamos compreender o significado do cuidado ao paraplégico através de diálogos. Assim, aplicar o modelo de cuidado transpessoal em paraplégicos hospitalizados, foi uma maneira de estender a teoria à prática e representou uma oportunidade de crescimento e autonomia da enfermagem no cenário hospitalar Relato de experiencia sobre el proceso de cuidar y de ense ar a cuidar de personas parapléjicas, utilizando la teoría del cuidado transpersonal de Jean Watson. Es un estudio descriptivo que incluyó 6 pacientes, 2 docentes del Departamento de Enfermería de la Universidad Federal del Ceará (UFC) y 40 alumnos inscritos en la asignatura Proceso de Cuidar II. La recolección de los datos fue realizada en el período de abril de 2000 hasta abril de 2001, mediante entrevistas semi-estructuradas que incluyeron preguntas relativas a la incapacidad y al cuidado. Para la aplicación de esa teoría se siguieron las etapas del proceso de enfermería preconizadas por Alvaro-Le Fevre (2000), considerando a los pacientes, docentes y alumnos compa eros en la relación "ser cuidado, ense ar y aprender a cuidar". Abstract: the aim of this study was to discuss the experience of building an educational software about the auscultation of breathing sounds. in the process, lev semenovic vygotsky's pedagogic theoretical framework was used, and the content was delimited so as to encompass the auscultation method step by step. the objective of the auscultation was to classify normal and strange sounds and their particular stethoacoustic characteristics. for the development of the system was used 3d technology, including virtual personification of the patients, nurses and objects. a virtual environment for the auscultation using simulation procedures was used as well. it was concluded that initiatives such as that, although facing many difficulties, bring important contributions to teaching-learning of contents related to nursing education.

Abstract: this study presents reflection based on the data collected in a doctorate thesis concerning nursing care in intensive cardiologic therapy. the nurses and nurse helpers were asked what care is and if they observed the people who perform the care, executing the care procedures. it was evidenced that differences exist between what is said about the care and what is done in practice, or rather, between speech and reality. although they affirm that the care must privilege technical procedures and humanistic attitudes, the practice demonstrates the relevance given to the use of the devices and the attendance of the biologic necessities. we considered for this reflexion that this practice gives the responsibility of performing administrative-managerial and biological activities to the professionals. thus, it does not justify the mooring cables to the technical aspects of the care. the challenge presented to the citizens is to identify the instant where one must emphasize the objective dimensions or those of the existential area that express the diversity of human feelings.

Abstract: Una reflexión basada en los datos recolectados de una tesis de doctorado sobre el cuidado de enfermería en la terapia intensiva cardiológica. Se preguntó a las enfermeras y auxiliares de enfermería lo que es el cuidado y se observó a los cuidadores ejecutando el cuidar. Se constató que existen diferencias entre lo que se dice y lo que se hace en la práctica, es decir, entre la retórica y la realidad. Aunque, aseguren que el cuidado debe privilegiar procedimientos técnicos y actitudes humanísticas, la práctica muestra la importancia dada a la manipulación de los aparatos y a la atención de las necesidades biológicas. Se consideró para ello que la práctica que impone a los profesionales la ejecución de las actividades administrativo-gerenciales y las del dominio biológico no justifica estar atado a los aspectos técnicos del cuidado. El desafío presentado a los sujetos es de identificar el momento en que estar deben enfatizar las dimensiones objetivas o aquellas de la instancia existencial que expresan la diversidad de los sentimientos humanos en dicho contexto.
Structural organization of the social representations to care

Abstract: It was aimed, in this study, to identify the social representations of the care, starting from the determination of the central nucleus and peripheral system. One hundred diabetics had been part of the research, registered in a Basic Unit of Health of Jequié-BA. Evocations free from words were collected produced starting from stimulate inductor - to take care of somebody. The results had evidenced that the structure of the social representations of the care has as central element the affective aspects and as peripheral system, cognitive elements. It was concluded that for the diabetics the affective attributes are indispensable to the practical of the care.

Abstract: the research in nursing contributes for the profession strengthening and for the elaboration of specialized, specific and updated knowledge body, turning it to social relevance. it must be analyzed to ponder about knowledge in a way to make it more suitable. the goal was to analyze researches published in six nursing periodicals - qualis international - from 1998 to 2005. 40 studies were found, mainly accomplished in the southeastern region, originated from tests and essays by teachers' authorship. the privileged set of themes was life experience and company of hiv/aids carriers. it was decided for the necessity of the researches scope expansion, in order to assist the area demands.
Integrative review of the nursing interventions used for the early detection of cervical uterine cancer

Abstract: in a national program to combat cervical uterine cancer (cuc) four basic elements should exist: primary prevention, early detection, diagnosis/treatment and palliative care. of these, early detection is the most effective modality. one of the purposes of evidence-based practice (ebp) is to encourage the use of research results with the assistance provided, reinforcing the importance of research for clinical practice. this study aimed to evaluate the evidence available in the literature regarding effective nursing interventions for the early detection of cuc. the selection of articles was performed in the databases: scopus, pubmed, cinahl, lilacs and cochrane. the sample of this review consisted of seven articles, with evidence levels 1, 2 or 3. the behavioral, cognitive and social interventions, showed positive effects in the early detection of cuc, especially the interactive cognitive interventions. it is suggested, when appropriate, to use a combination of interventions in order to obtain a more effective result.
Rehabilitation process experience after a cerebral vascular accident: a qualitative study

Abstract: We tried to learn the process of cerebrovascular accident holders’ rehabilitation and identify factors that make this process difficult. Twelve individuals living in the city of Sobral-Ce participated in this study. Data were collected by means of consultations to medical registers and semi-structured interviews, carried out in residences, along the months of October and November, 2004. The statements highlighted that the rehabilitation process is permeated by financial difficulties, by lack of infra-structure in medical care, and, it is restricted to medical follow-up. It was proven, yet, that the family performs an important role towards those taken by the cerebrovascular accident and that it determines changes in life style. It was inferred that health professionals must fight for the implantation of public policies that make rehabilitation easier, and, that nurses must center their operation in education for health and in systematized assistance, favoring home care essential for rehabilitation.

Abstract: The objective of this bibliographical study was to analyze trends of use of the nursing assistance systematization languages in the dissertations and theses published in the catalogs of the Center of Study and Research in Nursing, in the period from 1979 to 2004. The sample was composed of 98 abstracts that constituted research about assistance systemization or that contemplated theories with own language to a nursing process. It was observed: The concentration of studies in the Southeast and Northeast regions; The utilization of the Nanda as nursing language; The application of the Basic Human Needs Theory; The development of studies about profile and validation of diagnosis. The trends of utilization of the founded languages in this study, as well as the evidenced gaps show the need of better knowledge and comprehension to nursing process elements that give base to the classifications at its utilization in the practice, in the research and in the teaching.
