Building Trust—One Gift at a Time
MaroServátka,Steven Tucker,Radovan Vadovi?
Games , 2011, DOI: 10.3390/g2040412
Abstract: This paper reports an experiment evaluating the effect of gift giving on building trust. We have nested our explorations in the standard version of the investment game. Our gift treatment includes a dictator stage in which the trustee decides whether to give a gift to the trustor before both of them proceed to play the investment game. We observe that in such case the majority of trustees offer their endowment to trustors. Consequently, receiving a gift significantly increases the amounts sent by trustors when controlling for the differences in payoffs created by it. Trustees are, however, not better off by giving a gift as the increase in the amount sent by trustors is not large enough to offset the trustees’ loss associated with the cost of giving a gift.
Algebraic Cryptanalysis of GOST Encryption Algorithm  [PDF]
Ludmila Babenko, Ekaterina Maro
Journal of Computer and Communications (JCC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jcc.2014.24002
Abstract:

This paper observes approaches to algebraic analysis of GOST 28147-89 encryption algorithm (also known as simply GOST), which is the basis of most secure information systems in Russia. The general idea of algebraic analysis is based on the representation of initial encryption algorithm as a system of multivariate quadratic equations, which define relations between a secret key and a cipher text. Extended linearization method is evaluated as a method for solving the nonlinear sys- tem of equations.

Acta Montanistica Slovaca , 2000,
Abstract: The occurence of crystaline located occuiring in pyroxenic andesite, is situated in the open pit for building materials near to Kremnica in iar n/ Hronom district. Calcit in a paragenesis with quartz creates different (in the form and size). Its genesis is related to the hydrotermal mineralization in the Kremnické vrchy. This locality is of mainly mineralogical - colectors importance.
Cíge - new field of chloropal and common opal
Barok Maro
Acta Montanistica Slovaca , 1999,
Abstract: In the open pits in surroudings of village Cíge in Prievidza district a new occurance of chloropal and common opal was found. The opal postvulkanic mineralization is related to the vulkanic komplex of the mountain range Vtá nik. The locality is composed of vulcanic rock and their pyroklastic, represented by particularly by andesite and rhyolit brekcia. The quality of the opals is variable. The resouces of the opals were calculated on the order of hundrens ( XOO ) kg of available materials. Local opals have also another utilization mostly for the individual jewel.
QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF DRAWING TUBES MICROSTRUCTURE
Maro? Martinkovi?
Materials Engineering , 2009,
Abstract: Final properties of forming pieces are affected by production, at first conditions of mechanical working. Application of stereology methods to statistic reconstruction of three-dimensional plastic deformed material structure by bulk forming led to detail analysis of material structure changes. The microstructure of cold drawing tubes from STN 411353 steel was analyzed. Grain boundaries orientation was measured on perpendicular and parallel section of tubes with different degree of deformation. Macroscopic deformation leads to grain boundaries deformation and these ones were compared.
UTILIZATION OF STEREOLOGY FOR QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF PLASTIC DEFORMATION OF FORMING PIECES
Maro? Martinkovi?
Materials Engineering , 2012,
Abstract: Mechanical working leads to final properties of forming pieces, which are affected by conditions of production technology. Utilization of stereology leads to the detail analysis of three-dimensional plastic deformed material structure by different forming technologies, e.g. forging, extruding, upsetting, metal spinning, drawing etc. The microstructure of cold drawing wires was analyzed. Grain boundaries orientation was measured on the parallel section of wire with a different degree of deformation and direct axis plastic deformation was evaluated in bulk formed part. The strain of probes on their sections was obtained using stereology by measurement of degree of grain boundary orientation which was converted to deformation using model of conversion of grain boundary orientation degree to deformation.
Climate Change and Its Influence on Agricultural Pest in Mexico  [PDF]
Carlos Contreras Servín, Guadalupe Galindo Mendoza
Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (ACS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/acs.2014.45082
Abstract: The present paper reviewed the researches of how they have affected agricultural pests in the territory of Mexico. It emphasizes that traditional climate models are not “predict” non-linear systems and are necessary to resort to the construction of scenarios for study. Some climate change models applied to Mexico used for this purpose obtained significant results. It showed that to better understand the ecology of pests and their hosts, it is necessary to further research the correlations between them and improve climate modeling and its consequences, to prioritize risks and improve the reliability of predictions and scenarios in the future.
The role of land-use visions for protection of forest landscapes: the Bia owie a Forest (Poland) El rol de las visiones del uso del suelo en la protección de los paisajes forestales: el bosque de Bialowieza (Polonia)
Barbara Bo??tka
Bosque (Valdivia) , 2012,
Abstract: The work concentrated on relations between the issues of use and protection that developed in the Polish part of the Bia owie a Forest last century, particularly during the post-war decades. Owing to extraordinary natural values, the area deserves very careful protection, however, negative impacts on the landscape have been widely observed. The changes involving perforation and fragmentation of forest cover caused by continuous logging are accompanied by spatial disorder in built areas and their vicinities resulting from tourism development. The aim of the research was to identify the underlying forces of negative tendencies and simultaneously, obstacles to progress in nature conservation of the area. Comparison of views and visions of land-use and management of the Forest showed that great differences in attitudes, applied perspectives and expectations to the Bia owie a Forest exist. The study revealed the importance of a socio-cultural dimension for a current stage of landscape evolution. This influence is connected with a steady pressure on wood exploitation and results, at least partially, from a strong position of forest administration in this area and from specific land-use visions emphasizing economic services of the forest. Noteworthy, actions undertaken across the country and numerous efforts to extend protection of the area have not succeeded so far. It is argued that underestimation of natural values expressed by local communities in addition to weaknesses of the state’s environmental law may bring serious hazards to the analysed landscape and affect the whole system of nature conservation in Poland.
Activation Policies under Conditions of Weak Governance: Czech and Slovak Cases Compared
Tomá? Sirovátka
Central European Journal of Public Policy , 2008,
Abstract: The paper examines how the governance framework and implementation conditions influenced the profile and impact of activation policies realized in the Czech and Slovak Republics during 2003–2006. The findings are based on institutional analysis, a series of case studies of local Employment Offices in the Czech Republic and an evaluation study of activation policies carried out in the Slovak Republic. We argue that under conditions of inadequate governance framework, the activation strategy of enforced participation implemented in Slovakia and the Czech Republic did not bring the intended effect in terms of increasing employability nd reducing long-term unemployment. In the Czech Republic, the strategy is being implemented inconsistently, in dependence on local conditions, in a very limited scope, and with ambiguous outcomes. In recent years, activation has been ever more powerfully shaped by the bottom-up policy—influenced to a greater extent by the principles of inclusive participation. In Slovakia, the strategy was implemented more consistently, and registered unemployment decreased significantly. However, this was mainly due to the threat effect of the massively implemented activation measures. Labor force survey data indicate feeble subsequent placements of the ‘activated’ in the open labor market.
